Night Pains

“Huuhhhh….” The girl lying on the bed lets a long audible sigh escape her lips letting out a breath she didn't know she was holding.

“Everything O.K.? I heard you `sigh' and that's never a good thing.” The man lying next to her said. “Yeah I'm fine, just thinking.” She replied in a distant tone. “About what?”
“Nothing in particular.” This however was a lie. She had been thinking that once again after their lovemaking she felt nothing but emptiness inside and wondered if it was her inabilities or his.

“Well I'm going to hop in the shower real quick. Wanna join?” He gave her a sly smile “Nah, I'm good but you go on ahead.” Once he was gone and she could hear the water running she began to try to `satisfy' herself. After a few minutes of her menstruations she gave up hope and climbed out of bed looking for her night cloths.
She wondered if some of the seeping loneliness she was feeling inside was normal after such a long relationship with one person. She didn't expect the passion to stay in a relationship forever, but at her young age of mid 20's she didn't expect to not be able to get off at all! Maybe that's just how it is for some, she couldn't really expect all the romance novels she reads to be reflected in real life. After living with someone for 5 years this was to be expected. She loved Jack more then life but wished sometimes he would be more like the leading men she reads about. He wasn't the jealous sort. Seeing her talk to another guy or even comment on how handsome another man is only elicits and sight shrug. He's not the romantic by any means. The most he's done on Valentines Day or their anniversary is take her to dinner, which they do anyway once a month or more. It's not like he's not sweet. He helps around the house, drives everywhere because he knows it makes her nervous to dive. He gets her meds when she's in pain, all the loving things some ones does for another.
“Meh, I need to stop thinking like this!” she mumbles as she steps out of the bedroom into the living room. “Sometimes I just wish things could be a bit more exciting!”

BLAM!!!

Lightning illuminates the faintly dark room. In the corner stands a shrouded figure of a man with glowing golden eyes.
