Running, Running, Running, That's all I'd been doing for a while. I was sick of it, but it was better then being caught by them the pigs who killed my sweet twin sister. I looked up at the sight of those familiar blue headlights that belonged to Jason's “pimped out” hummer, more like, beat-down-with-scratched-paint-and-one-taillight- with-blue-lights-and-a-horrible-green-interior hummer. I peeked out of the rotting boards that covered the windows of this room, my late aunt's attic, it was amazing this place wasn't condemned, after all, Jason and I almost died coming up those evil stairs that I swear were out to get her.

I almost laughed when I heard Jason trip on those evil stairs, almost. There was no time for humor when a powerful family like mine wanted me dead, as Jason put it. I didn't realize how hard it was to run from the Nadir's, whose size opposed their name. I brushed my dark hair away from my olive face, my light, honey-golden eyes, too sweet for my family; my mother never hesitated to remark about how I didn't fit in. My mother, the person who led the headhunt.

I sighed and looked up at Jason, and jumped, startled, I hadn't noticed him come in, “Jason. . .” I started, my voice smooth, yet cracked from my crying earlier, I was still slightly upset, I always was. Jason had told me that he was worried that my “sweet voice” had begun to turn sour from all my crying. I'd almost hated him for it, but, it was impossible to hate him, after all, we'd known each other since we were little, and he'd never sell me out to her family, I'd hoped.

“Yes?” He answered, a surprisingly light, velvety voice for someone his size, at six foot five, he towered over me due to the fact he had a foot and five inches on my small five foot frame. His light, shaggy hair contrasting his “military” build and dark tan. I'd always teased him for being so intimidating, but now, I was thankful for his size, because most of the goons my family sent were as little as half his size, the only one they had to worry about was Krieger, who had three inches and a hundred pounds on Jason.

“Nothing, Nothing. . .” I said, and smiled when I saw what was in his hands, “Orange Vanilla Sherbet!” I tackled, well, attempted to tackle him and failed miserably, but for orange vanilla sherbet, I'd tackle just about anyone to get it. Grinning, Jason held the sherbet above his head, forcing me to jump for it in a vain attempt to reach high enough to grab the beloved treat.

After a few minutes, and several vain attempts to gain the sherbet, I finally got fed up, and kicked Jason in the shin, as he stumbled a bit, I grabbed the sherbet and ran to the corner of the room. Holding the sherbet protectively, waving a pencil threatingly, as if I really believed the pencil, which was about the size of Jason's middle finger, would do me much good at all.

Jason just waved me off, and chuckled lightly “You silly girl, when will you learn that you could've just said please?” “When a snowball has a chance in the underworld, Jason” I responded, smiling as I licked some sherbet off my fingers, having been too impatient for a taste to wait for a spoon. Jason sighed “You know . . . there was a spork in the bag” I looked at him in mock horror, “A spork?! You dare bring me that evil creation of doom?! How dare you!” I threw the spork at him, and Jason just laughed, then froze as his cell phone buzzed, alerting him of the nearby Nadir's.

I didn't have a chance to finish my ice cream before Jason was throwing my bag over his shoulder and grabbing my hand, he was in a hurry, that meant that they'd breached his borders, that meant they were only thirty feet away, and likely, would be there before he got I in the car if they'd stayed a second longer, before I knew it, I was in the beat up hummer, and Jason was starting the car, and driving away just as the wooden wall broke down, they'd never come that close before . . . I'd thought, never been so much in danger, as when I saw the monster Krieger break down that wall, hoping to capture me.
