The people in white were quick to react. They ran toward me, in a panic, I threw the mans corpse at them, and made for the exit. I dashed down the corridor, my heart pounding against my rib cage. There was no time to look back to see if I was being chased, I just had to keep running forward. At the other end of the corridor was a door, similar to that of a cell door. I tried my luck with the handle, it was unlocked. On the other side it looked like the exact same corridor, I kept running, at the end of this corridor the door was exactly the same as the last one, luckily it was also unlocked. On the other side of this door was an elevator. I pressed the button for the main floor. When I looked to see if I was being chased I noticed no one was following me. I watched the lights above the elevator door light up, B3, B2, B1, M. The doors slid open, to reveal some sort of lobby. A round room, with another elevator on the opposite side of the one I was in, clear glass doors leading out of the building, and a desk across from the glass doors. A group of men were standing near the desk, when one of them spotted me. "An escapee, seize him!" The men drew guns out of their belts. I made for the door, bullets speeding past my head. The glass doors had shattered into a million pieces when I reached them. The building seemed to be in the middle of a dense forest, with a single path leading toward the back of the building. I sprinted into the forest, with the men not far behind me, still firing their guns at me. I ran in a zig zag pattern, and changed my direction slightly from time to time. The adrenaline was coarsing through my veins, giving me great stamina. I could feel the sweat pouring into my eyes, burning them. Darkness began to fall, making visibility low for myself, and my pursuers. The sound of bullets and the men shouting began to die down, but still I could hear them. I climbed up the nearest tree once I came to realize they couldn't see me anymore.
I could hear the men walking on the underbrush beneath me. I feared that they may sense me near by. I held my breath, while they walked underneath me. I remained in the tree that night, shivering from the sweat that clung to my body from the long run. My feet and arm are in pain, although I do not know why.
Once the sun had risen above the horizon, I examined myself. Shards of glass and bits of wood were embedded in my feet. A bullet must have grazed my arm while I was being chased, I hadn't noticed. I took out as much of the glass and twig as I could. My feet began to bleed a little as a result. I tore off some of the tattered garb i had been wearing, and wrapped sore my feet, along with the wound on my arm, this would have to suffice for now.
I have no idea what to do now. I know nothing of this new place. The air is cool and sweet, the sky is a pale blue, the vegetation is damp from the night, and there are trees as far as the eye can see. All I know was that I want to get as far away as I can from that building I was in. I climbed down from the limb of the tree, the forest floor was soft from the dew. I took a quick glance around me to see if there was anything suspicious to be seen, there was nothing at all. There are so many colours around me, reds, oranges, yellows, browns. It's all so beautiful. Such a dramatic change from the colourless cell. The only thing left for me to do is walk, this forest can't go on forever.
I walked cautiously in the opposite direction I came from the night before. The forest was perfectly still, perfectly quiet, except my feet making a quiet crunching noise against the forest floor. Once I was sure that I was alone, I relaxed, and walked more freely. I began to wonder about the people in white, if there are more of them, and what's beyond this forest.
