Chapter 5
I'm unsure how long I've been walking for exactly. I tend to drift in and out of thinking. I hadn't even noticed that the clouds had rolled in.
I reached a short wooden fence. On the other side of it was a yellowing field. In the distance I could see a red barn, and a small white house surrounded by a white fence. I began walking toward the house, the grass was soft on my feet. I was nearly at the front door when my knees gave out on me. I feel forward onto my knees. I stayed in that position for sometime, until a middle aged man appeared from within the barn, brandishing a pistol at me. I tried to get up, so I could take cover, that only resulted in me falling face first into the gravel. The man lowered his weapon, and rushed over to me. He set me up, put my arm around his neck, and walked me inside the house.
I blacked out.
I awoke to sun on my face. I was in small room consisting of a bed, dresser, and book shelf. I slowly sat up and put aside the blanket that was placed on me. A light refreshing breeze was coming from the open window above the bed. I heard the door creak open, I turned my attention to who was entering.
It was not the man for before, but a woman. She had long flowing brown hair, with hazel eyes to match. She was dressed in a corsette type dress, carrying neatly folded clothes.
"I hope I didn't wake you." She asked.
"No, not at all."
She smiled at me
"I came to bring you some fresh clothes to change into." She handed the pile to me.
"Thank you."
"I'll leave you then to change." She walked out of the room, closing the creaking door behind her.
I threw off the dirty tattered gown that I had been wearing, and replaced them with black pants, a white button up shirt, suspenders, and black shoes.
I sat on the bed to tie my shoes.
