Purgatory- Chapter 1- Absolution
Calyx was a slightly different Lucifer. She was known as the `Absolution.' She was able to `borrow' her adult form. Meaning she could disguise herself in her as a 26 year old version of herself. She was able to heal like no other. She could return from the grave, long after her heart stopped beating. She was almost identical to her father in almost every aspect. She knew that if she kept her own name, it would be obvious as to who she was. From the moment she was born, she was as intelligent as any adult human, and her knowledge would only grow as the years passed by. She decided to go by the name, Alexa Sky. Instead of keeping her hair long, she cut her hair short, approximately mid neck length. She was able to pass as a human for the most part. She merely had to dissipate her wings. Unlike her father's white wings, she seemed to acquire black wings altogether, though they did have a reddish tinge to them. Either way she could not socialize amongst society just yet.
For four years she hid in Jamaica, Queens, NYC. I mean, it wasn't unusual to see a four year old walk around unattended. By the age of five, she secretly enrolled herself in elementary school to learn how young children behaved and how adults act towards each other in the work place.
`Humans' lives were so simplistic, so worthless. All they did was live through the day. Not really living, not really secure on their future.' Then again, those made her consider her purpose in life.
`What am I supposed to do in life?' Then she noticed that humans tend to believe in a higher being.
`A God?' Later on she began to read the Bible. She began to see why they believed in `God,' it was their sense of security. It was what made them feel they had a true purpose in life. It made her believe she had a purpose.
Another few years passed by and she met another secret Lucifer, Leandro. Apparently his parents were in an illegal affair. They had abandoned him by the age of eight. They decided that they could trust each other and they worked together to survive.
~~7 Years Later In Charlotte, North Carolina~~
“Hey man, how did your schedule come out” Asked a 16 year old 5' 11” red headed boy.
“Not as bad as I thought, although I don't want chorus. I don't need them to put two and two together” The second person tied its hair back because it was getting in the way.
“Alex, how long do you think till they figure it out?”
Alex crossed his arms for a second, “I'd give it, umm,” he stood there for a while, “about a year and a half or so. It would all depend on how many guardian fights go on here.”
Alexa and Leandro had moved from place to place all over the country each year to hide themselves. This year they disguised themselves as two students at West Mecklenburg High School. They chose it because with an open field campus, it was easy to escape if ever caught. Plus, this school had quite a reputation on their hands for having reckless kids. Who would think that two Lucifers would risk it? Not to mention that they were looking for a boy and a `girl.' Alexa decided to cross dress for a while just to throw off the guardian force in their search. They decided to sleep on their questions. When you were hiding from people more secretive than the CIA, you couldn't ask too many questions.
The next morning they visited other Lucifers for help in getting school supplies. They couldn't really get anything on their own considering the fact that most workplaces now ask for blood tests proving that they are what they say. They traveled throughout the city from informant to informant. They got everything they needed. All they needed to do now was show up at the bus stop the next day. They had called up the school to see what time the bus would arrive at the bus stop the next day.
“Leo, we seriously need to get to sleep. The bus will be at our stop at five-thirty.” Leo grabbed Calyx by the waist and pulled her down to his bed.
“I know, I know. Can you sleep here with me tonight?” He put on a puppy face. “Fine, but this is going to be the last time, also you need to watch your wandering hands. If I find them were they were last time, you won't make it to school still a man.”
Leo gulped he knew she wasn't joking. Last time he had slipped one of his hands over one of her breasts and the other hand snuck its way in between her legs. That was a choice he regretted, for he was knock out cold for three days, outside with the November chill as his only company.
Over the years the two had become lovers and cared for each other deeply. Over the years Leandro had grown into a hyperactive young man. Calyx grew up with a personality quite opposite to his. She was a cold, cruel, uncaring person who could leave another in the cruelest of situations, and appear unfazed. It was funny that they were lovers. If you didn't know their genders you would question who was the female in the relationship. They started their relationship quite young, in junior high for that matter. They had to separate for a few years since he was two years older and she was still in Junior high and he was already in high school. Soon enough, however, they had gotten back together to move on to another place.
Even though they didn't need to go to school because their knowledge surpassed common public school, they were trying to collect more illegal Lucifers so they could create a fourth side to the war. They were succeeding, but little things would force them back into hiding. Leandro cannot bear to see another person hurting for something that cannot be helped. Sometimes Lucifers would be caught by a guardian officer on patrol, and Leandro would fight for their safety and they would have to hide again.
~~The Next Day at the bus stop on the corner of Oakdale Rd. and Old Plank Rd. ~~
“Jeeze, who is sane enough to wake up at this hour to go to a damned school?” He looked at `Alex', who wasn't even paying attention.
`He' seemed more interested in `his' music. “Can't we fly over there?” That got Alex's attention. “Are you fucking crazy? Do you know how stupid you just sounded?” Alex lit up a cigarette.
“You come up with the stupidest things sometimes, I swear. Then you wonder why I began smoking.” She spoke with no form of emotion. “Put out your cigarette. The bus is here.” Alex threw the cigarette and stomped on it.
The bus driver looked at them “You goin' to West Meck?” They nodded. The woman seemed to dislike them. “Get on.” Was her rough reply.
They stepped in the bus going to the fourth seat closest to the back. Alex heard Leo mutter “Stupid human” under his breath and she smacked him over the head.
“Stop acting like an asswipe and act like one of those supposed `stupid humans' because we need more recruits.” He looked at her, and then he opened his mouth as if he was to say something before she interrupted him.
“Tu quiere dormir en el mueble?” He then quickly shut his mouth. He looked at her and he went back to his music. The ride to school was uneventful. Then the classes themselves were a joke. In world history they did a warm up and did nothing else. Afterwards Alex had computer applications 1, while Leo had gym/health.
Alex did not like computer applications at all. The teacher was a known demon/witch/Lucifer hater. She had posters all over her room that were screaming “Bitch” in Alex's eyes. She didn't like Alex because he had grey eyes like a demon she supposedly knew. She didn't care what the teacher thought. She just let karma wrap itself around her.
By the end of the day, Leo and Alex had a fan club. They were a bunch of preppy whores, who thought they would be a good fuck. Leo being the nice guy tried to turn them down nicely. Alex on the other hand got rid of them with a nice little comment.
“Bitch, get the fuck off me. Who knows how many guys you've fucked today, let alone, this year.” His fan club soon turned into a hate club.
Alex reminded herself never to date a human ever. They had no purpose to her. They were too quick to judge a person. Leo just looked at her and simply pats her back saying “I feel ya' man.”
That night they received a phone call that was not desired. “Shit, these dumbasses need my help in NY. I'll be back in a few days. Can you manage without me?” He nodded his head.
He needed her to go. He was a high priority mirror. He could see into his past as well as his future. He didn't want her to see his pain. She may have acted as if nothing fazed her, but he knew that the things happening were bound to catch up with her. She was on the verge of a mental breakdown.
“When do you leave?” Calyx was worried. He had never sounded so serious. She loved him so much, but would never allow it to show on her exterior.
“In the morning” She was on the verge of crying. He had rarely ever seen her show emotion. That meant she was really stressed. She then sat facing him, on his lap. He pulled her down for kiss. `Her lips are so warm. I should make this a night for her to remember, especially since this will be our last together.' The last words she would hear from him that night would be “Amoure”.
