Purgatory- Chapter 2- Empty yet Full

~~One Week Later, back in Charlotte, NC~~

Calyx had corrected the matters going on in New York. She wanted to see Leandro. For some reason she was having a bad case of home sickness. When she arrived home she saw a stack of mail packed in the mailbox, all from informants. She went inside and began opening and reading them. All of them were saying “I'm sorry” or “He will be missed.” Now she was confused. Something was up. She looked up at the clock. Leandro was very late to get home.

Then she received a knock on the door. She was silently praying it was Leandro because she was getting seriously worried. Much to her dismay, a girl and somewhat of a friend of hers was at her door.

“Hey Calyx” Renata looked towards her feet like a child who was being scolded by its mother. Calyx knew this was not a good thing. Renata usually had an emotionless face, like hers. Heck almost all Lucifers were cold people in general. She then immediately knew something had happened to Leandro.

“Is he okay?” Renata was surprised when she heard Calyx's voice. It was barley a whisper.

“I'm sorry but we did what we could,” That was all Calyx needed to hear, for she began to back up into a wall, before she passed out.

Calyx was used to hearing about Lucifers dying or people dying, but never had felt the pain of mourning. Her mind was still trying to process those words. “We couldn't save him” were the only thing her mind was processing. It was almost as if her mind was trying to find a way around the meaning of the sentence. She refused to believe it. She realized that she could have saved him, if she had stayed. Her body felt cold. She only felt empty, now. No emotions were going through her mind. She was numb, but it wasn't the first time that she shut down. This happened before, the day she died.

She woke up a few hours later in her room. Her mind suddenly processed everything that happened. She looked around herself. Her room was almost exactly as she left it. Somewhere in the back of her mind she thought `The only thing missing is Leandro.'

Speaking of missing she began to get up to find Renata, then she heard the door open. “Whoa chiquitina slow down there.” She refused to let her up.

“How” was the only word she was able to form. Renata did not want to explain how he died, she just told her that it was time to eat. She was worried. Calyx had been in a daze ever since she woke up.

Calyx finally made it downstairs. She was having trouble walking. Renata was really getting worried. She had never seen Calyx so broken.

`She's not broken, she's numb.' She tried to make Calyx eat, but no avail. She couldn't even look at anything directly, she always looked in a faraway place. Renata pulled Calyx's chin up so she could look at her directly.

“Wake up! For fuck's sake, Calyx, I understand he's dead but you can't just give up now.” Calyx looked at her.

“I am awake.” She looked like she was ready to crumble to bits and pieces.

“I don't intend to give up now, he must know first.” Renata was confused. Calyx was talking as if she had made perfect sense.

`Has she lost her mother fucking mind?' She looked up at Calyx.

“Calyx, are you okay? You're starting to scare me.” She looked up and smiled.

“Who was it that killed him.” It seemed more of a demand than a question.

Renata was scared out of her mind. She didn't know Calyx's history but she knew that she was one of world's strongest Lucifers. “S-Sergeant De La Luna, of the Hunter force.” Calyx smiled.

“The fool, he should know that I never forgot. Nor will I ever.” She went upstairs, then gathered some things. Later that night she left. Renata retrieved her phone.

“Fatin? She finally lost it. Seriously? How could you... fine. Okay, bye.”

~~The Next Day, West Meck High School Auditorium. Calyx's POV~~

I knew one of the scientists worked at this school as a Chemistry teacher. It was time to set my plan into action.

“Jido Raidon, I presume?” He was confused. I could smell it in him.

“Sorry, no one here by that name.” He obviously hadn't seen me because I was wearing my modified version of the Hunter force uniform. I stepped off the wall and smiled.

“Wa-who are you?” I simply smiled again.

“You know me very well, don't you, Dr. Raidon?” He gave me an odd look. “Don't give me that stare. You have to remember me. I am experiment 433713. You're failed experiment, because I miraculously died at birth.” He laughed at me. He obviously thought that my powers have not manifested, so I did the very thing that people feared about me, I laughed. That's when he realized I wasn't joking. He tried to run, but I had frozen him in place.

“No! No! Please let me live!” Dr. Raidon pleaded for his life. “En paz descanse” I kissed him on the lips. A few seconds later, the wind itself seemed to slit his throat through his jugular vein. With gloved hands, I dropped an envelope on to his deceased body. Around the envelope was one of my favorite rosaries.

~~Somewhere in NC on someone's rooftop~~

She didn't pity the man. She couldn't pity him. He thought of people as objects, or things that could easily be indisposed of, replaceable.

“If only people were replaceable.” She seemed to remember who she was for a moment. A second later she was back as the stoic façade she had maintained all her life. She needed to eat. It had been a good while since she last ate and was beginning to feel woozy. She decided to go to a restaurant out towards Concord. She decided to go a very expensive Japanese restaurant.

`The less like me this place is the better.' She finally arrived hours later because she needed to find a vehicle to get there. People were thought of as crazy if they thought they could live in NC without some form of transportation.

The woman greeted her as soon as she got passed the doors. Calyx merely looked at her. She simply responded “Seating for one, private smoking area.”

The waitress seemed to get the hint. `Good, so I won't be bothered as much as I expected.' She got her drink and ordered. If Calyx was paying attention she would have realized she ordered something with fish. She hated fish. She ate her food and left. She needed to find a place to sleep. She didn't trust anyone. She decided on sleeping in her car. She knew something in her mind snapped when she saw the picture with Leandro and herself in her car. She ended up crying herself to sleep.

~~The Next Morning In her car~~

She woke up feeling like shit. She remembered what she had eaten the night before. Unfortunately, she also remembered her disgust of fish. She ran out of her car and to the closest trashed can and relieved her stomach from the infernal sea creatures. She wondered what came over her when she decided on going to an Asian cuisine restaurant, let alone, eating actual fish.

`Must have been a slight lapse of sanity.' She went back to her car and instead of driving somewhere else she stayed in her car listening to some of her music remembering Leandro.

She began to remember all of the guardian fights that they fought together. She may have been one of the strongest guardians, but his `go-go happily ever after' personality was very deceptive.

He was good at manipulating people. She remembered when they were little and didn't trust each other. He actually got her to reveal herself in her true Lucifer form. That was a rare thing. She remembered when they first kissed. She was eleven and he was thirteen. They were trying to avoid the guardian force. They managed to escape them, but they didn't come up for air anytime soon. It took them a good while to process what they had done. After that they seemed to just comfort one another with their presence.

“But I'm not going to feel your presence anymore, aren't I?” She thought that loneliness was always here only comfort.

“I had only been lying to myself, haven't I. ¿Porque tenias que morir? ¿Porque me dejaste sola? ¿Tu me prometiste.” She seemed to be pleading more than asking why. Her façade had finally given in. She began to cry again.

After a few minutes she just let the tears fall. `What's the point? My emotions and body aren't going to listen to me. She finally regained her senses and left her car. She began walking around. She needed to find a way to maintain money and live a somewhat normal life. She needed to look into her talents. She needed to think of one that no one knew about. `Performance,' was her first thought. The only person who knew this thought she was dead.

When her father designed her he intended to make the perfect being. Calyx was supposed to be the temptress. She could lure anyone into a bed unintentionally. She was able to anything that would turn a person on. She hated that attribute about herself.

“Perfect being, my ass. He wanted me to be a damn whore.” She decided against that, either way it would give her too a much attention, that and some unwanted admirers. She kept walking. Somehow she ended up at the mall. She didn't care. She saw an ice-skating ring and then saw the help wanted sign. She decided to go with it. She knew how to ice-skate, but not many others knew that. She filled out her application and left. They would contact her at a later date.

She got back to her car a little while later and decided to call a few people in New York. She needed some favors to be done. After she was done with that, she went to go buy another pack of cigarettes. At the ABC store she saw someone she hadn't seen in ages. She didn't want to see him but he already turned around.

“Calyx?” She was scared. “How have you been? I know you recognize me.” She wanted to run away so badly.

“Hey Sergeant Knite.” She decided she needed to tell him. She maintained her façade.

“I need to speak with you. This is very important.” He followed her out to her car.

“He's dead.” Sergeant Knite knew what she was talking about. “I knew he wouldn't last his whole life hiding.” She had never seen the old man look so weary. She let him sit there contemplating whatever thoughts were processing through his head. A few moments later he looked up at her.

“You were in love with him weren't you?” She looked at her feet. “I still am in love with him” He began to chuckle a bit.

“Don't you remember what you said when you two first met?” She arched her brow a bit in confusion.

“Guess not. I thought you would. You're a mirror you know, or you are as dense as your father?” He chuckled a bit.

“Don't remind me about the bastard” He noticed that her voice was a little colder. “Do you hate him, Calyx?” There seemed to be a pregnant silence.

“No,” he smiled. `So she finally forgave him.' He was about to speak when she interrupted him.

“I don't hate him. I loathe him. Rotting in hell is too kind a punishment.” He frowned. He knew it was too good to be true.

“Live at my house for a while. I know that the Lucifers are after you considering you killed an innocent.” She didn't question him. She knew he had his ways of figuring things out.

~~Sergeant Knite's House~~

“Calyx, are you okay?” Her only response was to pass out cold on the floor. “Shit, I knew something was wrong.”

He carried her over to one of his spare bedrooms. He tapped her lightly on the face. “Calyx, Calyx, you need to wake up.” He sighed. She was finally coming to.

“Shit, that's the fucking second time I've blacked out.” He looked at her with worried eyes. He couldn't help it. She was like his daughter, hell she is his daughter-in-law.

“I want you to get checked out. It's not normal for you to black out at all.” She hated doctors. She had bad experiences with them. She hated anything with a PhD. Her father was a prime example. Even though she was against it, she agreed. She owed this man big time.

~~14 Years ago, on the Appalachian Trail~~
“Sorry, I created you only to be taken from what you got a little while later.” Angel shot her and left her.

His only wishes were that she would die and never return. He reached his house again. He saw that his friend, Mateo Knite, was at his house. Mateo was known for being too kind and too soft.

“It's done,” was all he said. He could hear Cairo in the other room crying. She knew it had to be done, but he felt torn apart for murdering his own kin and for society's sake at that.

“Mateo, It's what had to be done.” His friend had been very mad at him from the moment he heard that he was using his own kin as an experiment. “Whatever.” was his simple and clad response.

Secretly, Mateo drove his way over to the Appalachian Trail. He knew that if this child was so strong, she would still be alive. He didn't want to see a baby destroyed for being born into a world who didn't care. Mateo never told Angel, but he had an illegal Lucifer son himself, but he didn't want him and Calyx to meet just yet. He needed to know this little girl before he could trust her.

`There she is.' His Demon nose had picked up a scent similar to Cairo and Angel, along with a lot of blood. He was expecting the worst case scenario, but when he saw her, she seemed to be fine. Sure, she was surrounded in blood, but he didn't see any injuries.

She was defiantly stronger than Rai and Rei, her brother and sister. Rai, her brother was obviously a mirror. Rei, her sister seemed to be able to control her powers after only a few minutes of being born—never the less, have any powers so soon after being born.

He picked up baby Calyx and settled her in his car. When he went to go sit in the driver's seat he noticed a teenaged girl sitting with baby Calyx in her lap. She had long black hair, with almost white eyes. She had and ethereal beauty to her. “Thanks” was all she said before she disappeared. He smiled. He knew exactly who she was. Little Calyx was stronger than her daddy expected.

~~After Calyx's Visit with a Doctor~~

“So what did the doctor say?” He didn't want to put her through more hell after Leandro died, but he had to tell her one way or another.

“You need to promise me you won't do anything stupid, okay?” She gave him a confused stare. She was uncomfortable. She couldn't read him, so she just nodded.

“Calyx, you are pregnant. You are only about three weeks along, and I think I can safely assume that, that is Leandro's child.” Her mind was going crazy trying to process all of this knew information. She managed to break down into tears in Mateo's arms. She then said something he hasn't heard her say in years.

“Daddy, help me.”
