Purgatory- Chapter Six- Reconciliation

 

 

~~Last Time~~

They left Fatin in the room shortly to speak about other matters. “Luna, do you remember that assignment that you received on the kid that doesn't know what he is?”

 

She thought of it as a minor case because it was one kid; one kid doesn't do much. “Yeah, what is so important about Blaise?” She knew it had to be important. He never called her Luna when it came down to her assignments.

 

“If the kid gets caught, we all go down. He's a friend of Maria's if something happens to him, Maria will have to go out of hiding and she's our major informant. I know you don't want to deal with her, but you can't change some of the bad habits that run in my family. You need to get the kid, tell him, train him, and then let him back into the real world. If something were to happen to him, all of the Lucifers go down with him.”

 

Calyx seemed to loose her cool for a minute when she heard that she needed to come in contact with Maria, again. “She's not allowed near Fatin. Maria has too much surrounding her as it is, and if they find her as a traitor, she's going to point straight at us. Leandro's half sister or not, she's not pulling any of us into hell with her anytime soon.”

 

~~Mateo's Guest Room, Calyx's P.O.V. ~~

 

“Fatin, wake up.” I knew she wouldn't be too nice if she woke up and I wasn't here. She stirred a little, but didn't wake. I decided that it would be best if I just let her sleep. I wrote a quick note and left. When I got in my car, I got my cell phone and dialed Renata's number.

 

/Hello? /

 

“Why the fuck did you lie to me?”

 

/What do you mean? /

 

“Just tell me were in the name of all seven hells is Lucas.”

 

/He said he needed to go to Concord Mills for some reason; what the hell is going on Calyx? What did he do? /

 

“No ahora.”

 

/Okay. Anyways, I think he's on a date with some girl. I think her name's Christiana, or something. /

 

“Thanks, I have to go. I'll call you back to tell you later. Bye.”

 

I drove my car over to Concord Mills, before I got out of my car I put a black bandana on, because I still haven't died my hair. I sniffed around until I got a whiff of his scent. I found him making out with the so-called “Christiana” girl.

I watched them step outside. I moment or two later I went out the same way. I looked around and saw no one. Good. I walked up to him pushed the girl out of the way, and smashed him into the wall.

“¿Como te atreviste a acercarte de ella? ¡La violaste! ¿Como le pudiste acer algo asi?”

The girl was looking annoyed. I didn't really care about her. I could tell she was human. I turned around to get a clear look of Christiana and I knew that she understood what was going on. I kept my usual façade.

“How's Maria doing? Is she finally speaking?”

That was when she noticed who I was. “Luna?”

I noticed her get a little nervous. I was a little mad at myself for not taking enough precaution. She knew every word I said. Christiana was a helper at the psychiatric hospital.

The patient she took care of was Malak Diorio. Malak Diorio was a false name for Maria Knite. She was trying to avoid my question. I didn't really care.

“Tell Malak to take care of her friend, Blaise.”

“You're an informant?” Had the jackass been any louder he would've given us a one-way ticket to a Guardian cell.

“Yes, dumb ass. You remember Maria, right? This is her warden and our second most important informant.” He was in shock for a moment.

“In other words: You would rather die than to deal with Maria if you did anything to her.” Chris gave me an odd look. “The bastard here raped a witch in my care and now she's pregnant and he's trying to run.”

She was about to turn about to leave before I put a hand on her shoulder and stopped her. “Diga a Maria que venga a mi casa esta noche. Si dice no, dile que e sobre su amigo Blaise.” She gave a curt nod and left.

I turned over to look at Lucas. I saw that no one was around so I punched him into the concrete wall behind him. I turned around and went to my car and left, but not before I “borrowed” his keys—with no intention of returning them anyways.

 

The world was a small place; I hated it that way. I drove off to a place I haven't been to in a while.

~~A Few Moments Later, Church Of Incarnation~~

I haven't been to this church in North Carolina yet. I'm the last person you would think of as religious, but I'm strangely attracted to the study of a higher being. I did something that I hadn't done in a while. I prayed.

Apparently, there was going to be Mass soon because more people were entering. I probably looked very peculiar to them because I looked as if I just robbed Hot Topic—, which I did.

I completed my prayers and walked towards the exit in the back. I got into my car and left. I don't want to deal with Maria, especially because I don't know how she would react with Fatin.

Maria was Leandro's eighteen year-old half sister. Mateo, being the young fool he was, messed around with a human eighteen years ago.

Her mother was one of our informants, but she was not part of the guardian force. She was part of the U.S. C.I.A. Aruna was what exactly what her name meant: Radiance.

When Maria was fifteen her mother was on one of her assignments; unfortunately Maria had gotten in the middle of the quarrel. Her mother was brutally raped and killed in front of her. Maria herself had gotten raped, but she escaped with minor injuries. However, Maria has a constant reminder of that event named Kala.

Kala is her daughter. She is a beautiful little girl, who looks just like her mother. She has wavy strawberry blonde hair with dark midnight eyes. The only difference between Maria and her daughter was their personalities. Maria never spoke and never responded. She only killed when she got her orders.

Kala was only two and a half but already had more interesting vocabulary than a sailor. Her daughter was a mean little bitch. Kala Knite was a two and a half year-old mean little opinionated girl, and she had a loud voice to boot.

Maria was not a complete human like her mother. Since Mateo is her father, she is half demon, but like her mother, she is also half-human. No one knows that Maria is half demon, which allows her to be part of the U.S. C.I.A. without being noticed.

Maria was a tricky person. Ever since the incident with her mother, she hadn't spoken a word ever again—that is till I started dating her two years ago. I was the first person she ever spoke to. I never understood why.

 

We dated for a few months at the same time as I was dating Leandro. Leandro never knew about that. For some reason she broke up with me after a few months later. I didn't really care. I thought `If it's over, it's over' three months after our breakup she came running back for a second chance. I blew her off because I didn't want to complicate my life anymore.

Maria was the type of psychiatric patient that shouldn't have needed too much attention—that was until we found out that she has certain attributes that usually only Lucifers would have. She was able to control her sanity too. That was not a good thing because Maria was a very vengeful person, hence why I didn't want her near Fatin.

I finally reached Mateo's house once again. When I got inside, I saw Mateo. “Is she awake yet?” He shook his head no. I went to her room to see how she was. She was just waking up when I got to her room.

I threw the note out and sat at the corner of the room. “How long was I out?” I mentally counted the time from the time I got to Mateo's house earlier that day till the time that it was when I got home.

“You were out for five hours or so.” I needed to get dressed into my uniform before Maria showed up—if she showed up at all.

“I'll be back in a little while. I need to go take a shower. Go hang out with dad for a while, okay?” She nodded and left to the next room. A few moments later, I left to the bathroom.

~~Mateo's Den Mateo's P.O.V. ~~

I saw Fatin come into my den. “Calyx sent me. She said that she was going to take a shower.” I gave a simple nod and told her to sit down. I was already pulling out photo albums of Calyx and Leandro. I wanted to know the girl before I let Calyx get herself into anything she shouldn't have.

~~In the Shower, Calyx's P.O.V. ~~

I was hoping that the old man would tell Fatin about Maria and the situation. There was too much going on in my life at once. I remembered some times with Maria but I didn't really care for any of those times.

The past is the past so you can never have it back. I thought about Leandro for a while but stopped myself. I didn't want to make myself feel worse.

I was reliving my past for the moment. I remembered from the moment of my birth, to the time that Angel shot me, to when I met Leandro, to the time he died, till now. I live for everyone to die.

Everyone has had something bad happen in their life when they meet me. I was born. I was killed. I met Mateo. He lost his wife. I met Leandro. Leandro died. I met Fatin. She was raped. I met Maria. Maria lost everything.

I stopped myself from thinking so much about how miserable I was. I didn't know why it felt as if everyone depended on me; all I knew was that I had to help them.

I stepped out of the shower and dried off. I changed my hair color to its usual black and I got a pair of scissors to cut my hair.

I didn't cut it as short as I usually did, but I kept it long enough so that I could still tie it. I dressed in the same uniform I was wearing when I met Fatin.

I lied on my bed trying to think of other things. That's when I realized I started rubbing my belly. So much had been going on that I completely forgot that I've been pregnant the whole time.

I hated how jumbled all these problems have gotten. One thing was for sure, at some point in time I needed to go see Angel and Cairo.

They had the right to know that they would be grandparents. I don't think that Cairo would try anything, but Angel was a different matter. I retrieved my bible and began praying again.

~~In the Den, Fatin's P.O.V. ~~

I was looking through the photo albums that Calyx's father had. He had a story for each and every one, but he wasn't in any of them. “Do you not like taking pictures? You're not in any of them.”

He didn't seem too surprised at my question. “I wasn't anywhere near them at these times. I can't always keep Lucifers around. They were pretty much on their own since they were about eight years old.” I knew that Lucifers had to live life on their own, but never did I know that they were so young when they did.

For a moment, he seemed to stare off into space. “Tonight, you will be meeting my daughter, Maria. I give you a warning: Do not go anywhere alone with her. Do not try to argue with her, and please, please do not tell her that you and Calyx are together.”

I didn't understand why, but I wasn't about to argue with a person who already knows her.

“Maria is Calyx's ex-girlfriend. They had some issues in the past. If Maria tries anything that gets you mad, ignore it. Calyx knows how to handle herself.” I heard footsteps from outside the den, so I turned around.

Calyx was standing at the door wearing the uniform from when I first met her. What caught my eyes wasn't her outfit, it was the fact that her hair was shorter, and it was jet black. “Fatin let's go. The faster Maria comes and goes, the more sanity I have left by the end of the night.”

~~Calyx's House, Rai's P.O.V. ~~

I wondered where Calyx and Fatin had gone. The thing I did most of the day was watch my sister's television. I went to my father's job during his break and did a little searching on the Knite family and their history in the records. I came about two records: Alexa Knite and Leo Knite. I had to laugh at the fact that almost all the information was incorrect. The profiles read:

By the time I finished reading, I was on the floor dieing of laughter. I wondered who put down that Calyx had borderline personality disorder. After about ten minutes of researching and laughing, I went to Wal-Mart and got some clothes since I couldn't go back and get my clothes from Mina's house. I got back to Calyx's house and changed clothes.

 

I went downstairs to get something to eat when I heard the doorbell. When I got to the door and looked outside, I saw this really hot girl. She had strawberry blonde hair and dark blue eyes that was a rare thing to see nowadays. I opened the door. “Hi. Who are you looking for?”

 

I got no answer. Instead, she shoved me into the wall and sat herself down on the couch after she closed the door. I tried to get up, but she grabbed the butter knife off the table and pinned me by my shirt into the wall.

 

 

~~Calyx's Car, Fatin's P.O.V. ~~

 

I didn't know who this Maria girl was but she had Calyx on her toes. When we got in the driveway, I noticed that there was a car already parked. Calyx hadn't said a word or changed expressions the whole time. When Calyx made it to the door she didn't even bother taking out her keys. I found that odd until she turned the knob; I realized that it wasn't locked. I thought that was odd considering the first day I met her she locked about three locks and four deadbolts.

 

When we stepped inside, I had to laugh when I saw Rai. He was pinned to the wall by the collar of his shirt with a butter knife. I've seen people get in funny situations but, Jeeze; it was a freaking butter knife.

 

A moment later, I realized that there was someone else in the house. That's when I saw a gorgeous girl with long, wavy, and light hair. She looked to be in her late teens, maybe her early twenties, but you could never really guess how old a Being, Lucifer, or Hunter was. I saw Calyx speak up. “It's been a long time, hasn't it Maria?”

 

So this was the ever-famous Maria, eh? She looked human, but that usually turned out to be a lie nowadays. It was a long time before Maria said anything.

 

“¿Quien es esa niña?”

 

I gave her an odd look. I knew she was talking about me. I guess she thought I didn't know Spanish. She looked almost as if she were inspecting me. She stood up; I noticed that she wasn't tall at all but there was something familiar about her. One thing was for sure, she was giving me an odd feeling.

 

She seemed human, but at the same time not human. “What does all of this have to do with Blaise and why is that witch here?” It sounded more like a demand than a question.

 

Calyx never seemed like the type of person who cared about what another person said but, she proved me wrong.

 

“This is my new girlfriend. What about you? Have you finally bedded Christiana?” Her words stung a little when she treated me and whoever that Chris girl was, like property.

 

I ignored them for the most part after that. I decided it might have been a good idea if I helped Rai get out of the wall. When I tugged on the knife I realized how deep in it was. It took me a good five minutes to get the knife out of the wall. It looked like it was going to be war, but before I could say anything Rai took me upstairs to my room.

 

“It may be best if you stay in here for a while.” I wanted to know why because no one was telling me anything.

 

“What's going on?” He looked as if he was going to say something that he was going to regret.

 

“I might have gone through Calyx's mind and…” He paused for a moment or so before trying to jumble everything out so I wouldn't understand him.

 

“She'skindamaybeCalyx'slastgirlfriendbeforesheendedupwi thLeandro.”

 

It upset me when I realized I left her there… with her… alone.

 

~~~Downstairs, Calyx's P.O.V. ~~~

 

I didn't want to talk to Maria, but I had to. I needed to tell her that: 1) Her brother is dead, 2) She was going to be an aunt, and 3) She needs to tell her friend something. She was not going to be happy about this at all.

 

“Leandro was killed the other week.” That seemed to have caught her attention.

 

“I know that wasn't the only reason you called me here.” I had to tell her the rest. “You need to tell Blaise he's not human.”

 

She gave me a look that said “I'm not buying it.” I was going to have to tell her at some point.

 

“I'm pregnant.” That really caught her attention; she looked as if I was going to have that butter knife she used on Rai, through my head. After a moment she seemed to have calmed down. She seemed a little upset. She moved up closer to me.

 

She was really getting a little too close. “I still want you back. Don't think that any of my feelings have changed for you. I still love you.”

~~~Translations~~~

No Ahora- Not now.

“¿Como te atreviste a acercarte de ella? ¡La violaste! ¿Como le pudiste acer algo asi?”- How dare you go anywhere near her? You raped her! How could you do something like that?
