Purgatory- Chapter Ten- Guide To Reality

~~Calyx's House, Early Morning~~

“Everybody get you lazy butts up. Today is the day and you all should know what to expect” Calyx went to every bedroom of her home waking everyone up.

“Sis, be merciful, it's three fifteen in the morning! What is five more minutes?” Instead of standing and listening to her brother whine she lifted up the mattress, brother and all, and plopped him on the floor.

“Garage, now. Lord knows when the last time you trained and if anything goes wrong, you need to be on your toes.”

Lucas and Rai stood in the garage still in their sleepwear and semi conscious. When Calyx saw this she punched Rai in the face and kicked Lucas in the stomach.

“Wake your lazy asses up. You think that I'm going to be everywhere saving your butts? Guess what, I can only be in one place at once at the moment, so I suggest that you all grow some balls and learn how to fight.” Neither of them really heard her because Rai was now literally half conscience and Lucas was hacking up blood from the minor internal bleeding.

“I have never seen anything so pathetic in my life. Especially you Lucas, you have been part of the Lucifers since you were nine! You should know by now that, this is the way I wake people up.” Her harsh training continued till about six-thirty in the morning.

“Never again will I train with my sister.” By the time Rai had finished training with Calyx he had a black eye, at least six broken ribs, a broken jaw, a fractured leg, internal hemorrhaging, three broken toes and was very sore to say the least. Lucas on the other hand, had faired ever so slightly better.

“At least I knew what to expect.”

“When you two regain consciousness take a shower. You both reek of old blood.” Calyx went upstairs to check up on Fatin.

When Calyx arrived upstairs she saw that she was still sleeping and decided to sit and watch her for a while. `She may not realize it but she reminds me so much of Leandro…'

She played with a few strands of her hair. After a moment or two she grabbed her uniform and headed for the shower.

~~Back Downstairs~~

“Is Calyx always this harsh?” Rai then realized that he was talking to himself.

Lucas was either dead or in a deep sleep. He checked for a pulse and found that he was still amongst the living. Rai didn't understand why he had to train if he wasn't even going to be there. He realized that he was already healing and should probably start washing up. Lucky for him he had his own bathroom.

A while after Rai left Lucas finally woke up. “Son of a-,” he decided not to finish his comment knowing that Calyx had the ears of a bat. If she heard him she would probably knock him back out for language.

Calyx was officially in military mode. He began to go upstairs and saw Calyx on her way down already in uniform. “Lucas, get dressed and get moving we only have fifteen minutes to crash the school meeting.”

He gave her a slight nod and kept walking, but the fact that the chain on her shoulder was larger, did not go unnoticed. He stopped mid-step.

“When did you up-rank?” She seemed colder when in military mode and her voice seemed more emotionless instead of her usual sarcasm. “When I killed Raidon the rest of the crew found out and a while later it was approved that I should go up a few levels.” He arched his eyebrow.

“A few?” She nodded. “I'm officially one the Brigade Generals” Lucas was still in a haze. “I can access a crew at any point. I don't really need to do field work anymore, but I decided to wrap up this case.”

He was surprised that they allowed her to rank up that many levels. “Am I allowed to keep my hair in it's real hair color now?” She nodded and kept walking.

~~At the School~~

“Welcome, students. I know you all are probably wondering why we're having this meeting. Due to the increase in guardian fights and bystander death toll, we have decided to add an extra class to the curriculum. This class is called “Key Class.” In other words we will begin training students to open the armory like the original “Key Soldiers.” The difference about this class is that if you receive it you are not allowed to pull out. Also you cannot choose whether you want this class or not. We are picking those in the best physical condition to be in this class considering that most of the passwords are a form of arrhythmic gymnastics—without the ribbons and frilly thin—“ The school advisor was not able to finish due to the fact that two people had just destroyed some of the auditorium doors.

“Good morning students. My name is Alexa Knite; this is a guardian fight.” Just as planned, Maria was on the sidelines with Blaise and Chris.

The armory fighters were pathetic. Good thing Maria said that Calyx was allowed to kill the soldiers she was fighting because even if she had let them live they would have lived the rest of their mortal lives as vegetables.

Calyx showed no remorse as she tore the limbs off of the fools whom had the audacity to think that they were any competition towards her. Lucas grabbed Blaise by the shoulder to give the illusion that Blaise was a hostage. Calyx stopped fighting and allowed them to surround her and making it seem as if she couldn't hold them back.

“Step off or you'll have to live the rest of your life as a woman.” They backed off a little, some knowing her reputation as a Lucifer. Calyxes took one step back dug the heel of her stiletto into the ground and drug it forward. The large crack began to glow darkly.

“Black holes, a funny thing about them are that they take you somewhere else. They can take you where you want to go if you want to use them.” At that moment Lucas—with Blaise and hand, walked straight into it only for it to close right after he stepped in.

“You can step out now old man. You can't attack me with a hostage back at home and you won't for the sake of Rai. I suggest that we have a bit of a personal talk don't you think?” Out of the crowd of mortified students, stood Angel.

“Where the hell is my son?” Calyx changed outfits from her uniform to a simple wife beater and jeans. She had the advantage of being a Lucifer and didn't even have to blink to change.

“He's safe and sound. He's with us voluntarily. Don't worry Fatin is safe too. You'd be surprised to find out who's been helping me throughout this.” He was loosing his patience. She had told him to show up only for her to try to make a fool out of him.

“What does who's helping you have to do with my son.?”

Calyx chuckled a bit and sat down on the floor. “Why don't you step out?” To everyone's surprise, a tall graceful looking woman stepped out from the crowd.

“Cairo?”

~~Back At The House~~

“Ah! Ugh!” Blaise screamed the whole way which was around two seconds and the landing wasn't too much fun when you have a hostage that was trying to fight to get away from you.

“Blaise, calm down! We only did this for your own good.” Blaise stopped moving and sat there confused for a moment.

“Isn't this Rey's room?” Lucas got up, and went to the door.

“Rai get your butt up here!” Lucas sat back down after that and a white-haired Rey stepped into the room.

“Rey? Did they kidnap you too? And what's with the hair?” Rai sat down on the floor creating a triangle next to Blaise and Lucas.

“Actually my name is Rai. This is my roommate/sisters indentured servant, Lucas. The mean girl that planned to kidnap you was my sister Calyx.” Blaise sat there for a moment.

“You mean that, that lady out there fighting was Martina?” Lucas let out a sigh in defeat and decided to take over since Rai kept confusing him more.

“Rey is actually Rai, Martina's real name is Fatin, Gabrielle is actually Calyx, Malak is actually Maria, and Christiana is still Christiana and that should cover everyone.” Blaise just sat there trying to absorb all the information given to him by Lucas.

“Wait a minute, Malak is part of this too?” He received a unanimous nod from the two other guys.

“One more question? Why am I here?” Rai and Lucas had a stupefied look on there face. The next moment he heard Martina/Fatin speak from the doorway.

“Why don't we let Calyx tell you? Would you like something to eat in the meantime?”

~~Back in The Auditorium~~

“Cairo? Cairo, what are you doing here?” She stood next to Calyx with her arms crossed. You could definitely tell that they were mother and daughter. They had the same exact face except that Cairo looked kinder and maternal. The only two things that made them different appearance-wise was height—Calyx being taller, like her father—and there eyes, Calyx had her father's almost silver eyes, while Cairo had a dark gray/navy blue eyes.

“You are a sick son of a bitch. First you kill one of my children the very day she was born. You join the hunters and kill those that share similar to yours, you deny your own child, you threaten to fight her, and you think I'm going to be a stereotype wife? Scratch that—ex-wife, all of this to keep up your damned reputation? No wonder my son ran from you.”

Calyx stood on the sideline. After that day that she decided that she needed to call Maria, she also decided that maybe it wasn't her place to fight her father. She thought it would be best if the person who suffered the most—her mother—should be the one to let him have it. After her mother's little speech she walked straight up in front of him and punched him.

`So that's whom I got my punch from,' after the first punch the guards with him stood up, only to be knocked out by an almost invisible wind leaving the only the warring family of three and the students.

“Cairo, I'll be leaving now. I leave a ransom notice later in the week. For now I can assure you the boy's safety. As for you Angel, step out of my way. I believe we have won this fight. If I am mistaken, someone please step forward and prove it so.” No one moved from their current positions.

Calyx walked passed Angel and left the school grounds. By the time the back up guards came, Cairo finished putting Angel in a critical state and had left without a trace.

~~Back at The House~~

“Is my girlfriend or any of the idiots home?” Calyx stood downstairs waiting for the others to come down. She had already changed into jeans and a large black t-shirt. Shuffling was heard upstairs and Rai, Lucas, Fatin, and a very befuddled Blaise come down the stairs with munchies at hand and in their mouths.

Fatin went right next to Calyx and let her arms hang around Calyx's waist. “Did you two idiots not explain to him why he's here?” Her mood seemed to be lighter. No one really understood why, in reality, she was ecstatic from watching her mother beat up Angel.

“Yeah but we thought that you'd be the best person to do so.” She rolled her eyes.

“Okay, 1st of all, we need to leave now. 2nd Blaise you're and illegal Lucifer. 3rd Lucas you're a dumb-ass and 4th Rai that includes you.”

They all began grabbing bags and dumping them in the two cars. “Okay, the seating arrangements are as follow: Fatin and Blaise in my car, and Lucas and Rai in Lucas' car. Understood?” The group nodded before entering their designated car. After a few moments they were on the road.

“So Blaise, what don't you understand?” He sat meekly in the back. “Everything. Tell me why I'm here and what going on.” He looked confused but didn't put up a struggle.

“Okay, you're adopted correct? Your parents tried to be smart and hide you in an orphanage so you wouldn't have to run your whole life, like Rai, Lucas and I have done. If you remember, I did a little role playing as Gabrielle Knite. In reality Fatin is my girlfriend and Rai is my twin. Malak, your friend was also helping us. You were being targeted by the Guardians and we had no other choice but to kidnap you. I hope you didn't have an attachment to your foster mother.” He nodded dumbly not really knowing what she was talking about.

“There is, however, one main rule with me. Mind reading is completely off limits. We barely have privacy as it is and we'd like to think that we can confide in our thoughts.”
He tilted his head to the side in confusion, “but I don't know how to read minds.” Fatin giggled a bit while Calyx maintained a small smile.

“Think again, a few nights ago you read through my thick headed brother's thoughts. You knew about his uniform fitting, and other things.” By the time Calyx finished talking Fatin had tears in her eyes from laughing.

`Who wouldn't laugh at the fact that my little brother had a crush?' Things quieted down after a moment or so, only for Calyx to comment one more time before the long trip continued.

“Take a nap, the ride to the northern half of the Appalachian trail is a long one.”
