Romancing Lucifer
Contract 24: Vow

“We should gather Yaone and the Flower Prince to help carry
out the plans. We're going to need their help,” Lucifer's cog
wheels began to turn. If they were going to pull this off, they no
doubt needed help. As soon as they decided to make a move, they
might need backup in case the situation gets a little precarious.
Besides, it was always good to have fall men and they were perfect
for the job.
“Let me guess, I have to go and do it, right?” Seraj
asked in a monotone voice. He had a feeling that it was going to be
all on him. If Lucifer had his way it would be, anyway. That was
what they made the pact about, right?
“You have modern technology on your side. It's not like you
have to walk down there. You can always call her,” the dark
angel knew that luring her in might be a good plan of action. Even
if she didn't want to come there, Lucifer had ways of making such
arrangements.
“You know that isn't the point. As soon as I call her, she's
going to shove in my face how she told me so and I was right. Do
you think I want that? I already hear it from you every day,”
Seraj complained. The last thing he wanted was that pretentious
blonde gloating about her malevolent plans actually working. God
only knew she didn't need to have an even bigger ego than she
did.
“Then you should feel immune to it being said again. You can
tune her out, just like you do me. Don't be such a weakling,”
Lucifer didn't understand what the big deal was? Words only held
promise when reinforced by actions, even he knew that. If Seraj
couldn't handle simple teasing, he would never see him as his
equal, much less something that was more worthy than the status of
a fuck toy.
The Nepali boy simply let out a sigh of irritation and gave into
the corrupt angel's demands. “Fine, I'll do it.” With
that, he stalked off into the next room and grabbed the phone.
Orange eyes glared into the object, as if he were almost trying to
burn a hole into it with his vision. A million thoughts swam
through the confines of his mind.
`I can't believe I'm about to admit defeat to her. Of all of the
people in the world, why did it have to be her? Come on, Seraj just
dial the number. You can do it. No one can do it but
you…Well, Lucifer could but he's being a bastard. I'm going
to die of embarrassment if I tell her I'm in love with Lucifer and
everything she said was true. Plus, it's awkward talking to someone
who was practically in love with the guy before.' He took a
deep breath as the thoughts left his mind and he sighed deeply.
This was it. It was time to finally bow out of this situation as
gracefully as he could.
It was time to let Yaone have her glory.
He wasn't prepared for this kind of gloating.
“Well, here goes nothing,” Seraj dialed the number and
waited for the blonde to answer.
Soon, Yaone answered the phone.
“Hello?”
“Hey, it's Seraj,”
“I haven't heard from you in a while. How have things
been?” Yaone seemed genuinely interested in his life, which
made what he was about to say all the worse in hindsight.
“Lucifer wanted me to tell you to come over here, and bring
your little flower friend with you,” for now, Seraj was going
to prolong this event as long as he could.
“Am I in trouble again?” She didn't really like the
tone of Seraj's voice. Granted, he was always a bit on the grouchy
side, but when he said things in that defeated tone of irritation
it made her feel uneasy.
“Not that I'm aware of. Then again, I know how Lucifer can
be. You never know with that guy,” Seraj didn't think about
there being underlying motives behind this little meeting. Then
again, he didn't know why he wasn't expecting it from the corrupt
angel. Maybe he was getting too comfortable with him again. One
would think that he would anticipate such things, but maybe he
simply normalized them. Either way it wasn't good.
What was wrong with him?
Then again…what wasn't wrong with him at this point?
The list would be far shorter.
“That's for sure,” Yaone agreed wholeheartedly on that
fact, “so, you never did answer my question. How have you
been?”
“I don't want to talk about it,” Seraj's voice was
deadpanned. He really hoped that she would change the subject, but
he knew her way better than that. Yaone was going to push this
subject; it wouldn't be typical of her to do otherwise. At this
point he might as well start feeling like he was held at gunpoint
because he basically was.
“I can always ask Lucifer,” Yaone's smile was projected
in her tone as she spoke slyly to him. She was going to get an
answer one day or another. She knew that if he wasn't speaking,
then there was something that he was hiding. Yaone wanted to know
what it was.
“I hate you,” Seraj predicted this. He didn't want to
be right, however.
“So,” Yaone paused and propped her head in her hand
with a deviant smile, “I'm waiting.” She wanted him to
give her the goods. Whatever he was hiding was undoubtedly a good
secret.
“I decided to go through with it,” he might as well
admit it. There really was no sense in even trying to fight it
anymore. He officially gave up on that and doing so would simply
prolong the inevitable.
“So, you're going to be Lucifer's bride?” She seemed a
little caught off guard by it. Of course she would be. Yaone
thought Seraj would play his little defiant games longer than this.
It was certainly an event she hadn't seen.
“No,” Seraj squinted and his frown grew deeper as did
the discomfort in his voice, “we're going to be
partners.” Why did she have to make him go in depth like
this?
Seraj was convinced that she was just doing it to make him suffer
more than he already was. This girl was on Lucifer's side, after
all. She was his former lover.
“Partners in crime or partners in some other kind of
way?” This was really amusing. Yaone was going to dig and dig
at him until he finally caved in and gave her the goods. Seraj
should know better than to fight against her investigative
skills.
“I told him that I loved him,” he might as well just
come out with it. Whatever Yaone wanted, she got and he knew it all
too well. Seraj was going to let her win this once, she would
eventually find out anyway.
The other end of the phone was silent, besides a few sharp noises
that were caused by her hands fumbling with the phone. That
revelation put her through so much shock that she nearly dropped
her phone in disbelief. It was hard for Yaone to even keep it in
her hands. Kazuza, who had been standing nearby her blinked and
cast her a confused glance.
“Are you serious? You actually gave into him?” Yaone
could hardly believe what he was saying. Never in a million years
did she expect him to say that, especially considering the fight
that he put up and how determined he was to go against the
grain.
“We had a talk, so I agreed to be with him. What? Are you
going to rub it in my face? You got what you wanted, be glad.
Right?” Seraj really wasn't in the mood to put up with her
shit. If she was going to make fun of him, then she might as well
get it over with. She could go ahead and talk about how he finally
gave into her one true religion or about how she was right, or any
manner of topic that she pleased. He just wanted to get this round
of humiliation over with.
“Yeah, I'm shocked but…I thought you were going to
fight this until the end? You know, never give into Lucifer?”
She was genuinely surprised by this. It almost seemed foreign how
unreal this moment was, and she was in shock from it all.
“Do you think this is a joke? I genuinely love him,”
Seraj wasn't sure which was more offensive, the fact that she
seemed to mock him or the fact that there was the chance that she
still might call him pathetic for being so easily manipulated.
“You do?” Yaone questioned.
“I hate to admit it but, he finally seduced me,” he
hated admitting that more than anything. He was just waiting for
whatever smartass comment she had in store for him.
“This is working better than I expected,” Yaone placed
a finger to her lips with a smile. Everything was going according
to plan. The fact that he had already given in by now was all the
better.
“Shove it,” Seraj growled.
“So, are you going to kill her?” Surely that meant that
he would go through with the plan.
“I have to. Do you think he's going to let me get away with
not doing it now?” Seraj already agreed to the pact, and
solidified it by everything he had just said to the dark angel only
moments before. He not only wasn't going to go back on his word, he
couldn't. In order to prove himself to Lucifer and be the lover
that the angel wanted he was going to keep his vows to him.
“This is your fault, you know?” Yaone didn't even care
about being that guy; she was going to tell him exactly how
it was. He was going to shove it in his face once more and continue
to rub salt in his wounds. The facts were just the facts and they
were undeniable.
“I know and I hate it. I don't even want to do this anymore.
It seems…wrong,” Seraj couldn't help but to carry it
out. He regretted his decision but he wanted to please Lucifer. Was
he willing to take a life? He was to make his own better, as
selfish as it was. Seraj would also do it if it made his bond
strong with Lucifer. There were more benefits to it than now and
not to mention, she was going to ultimately die by the time this
was all over with. Him biding time was just him prolonging her life
and he could only do that so long.
“You didn't care about that at first,” Yaone pointed
out, “you reap what you sow. Besides, you're not the only one
in this. I'm in this, too. I'm trying to get out of a pact, just
like you.”
Did he forget?
“That's different,” he knew about her pact. She didn't
need to compare their tribulations or even try to act like she
understood him, because she clearly did not.
“I'm just doing what will better me. Understand it's nothing
special,” Yaone wasn't beneath throwing him under the bus to
get herself out of her issues. She was certain that if Seraj was in
her predicament that he would do the same to her. If he was already
considering killing Sajani then he would do the same to her.
“You're a real bitch,” Seraj couldn't help but grind
his teeth in irritation. He really hated talking to her.
“I probably am, but you still chose to hang around me.”
That was his fault, really. Much like Lucifer, he had the
opportunity to get away from her.
“I don't have a choice with that, either. Besides, I can
relate to you in a sick, sad way, and…I want to help you out
now that I know what to do about it.” As much as she
irritated him, Seraj knew why she was like that, and truth be told
they both benefitted from him taking the place she once desired as
Lucifer's bride. If he did, then she would be free of her pact. If
he helped her, then it would be the one good thing that came out of
his bad experience with this pact…that and everything he's
done with the dark angel.
“You're too nice to me. I'd consider loving you if it wasn't
for your situation. Damn, I gave Lucifer a good one.” What a
shame, really. Yaone didn't realize what a good man he was until
she gave him away. Then again, she had an affinity for doing such
things, didn't she?
Seraj felt his cheeks grow hot from her little comment. He felt
frustrated from her when she wasn't pissing him off. It wasn't like
he couldn't admit that she wasn't attractive. “Just…get
your ass over here.”
“I'll be on my way, bye,” Yaone hung up the phone and
turned to see Kazuza standing behind her.
“Was that the one you've chosen for Lucifer?” He
asked.
“Yes, it's time to exact the plan,” the blonde smiled a
little. Now would be the time to get what she had wanted. It was
time for Yaone to be happy after all of these years.
“He actually wants to go through with it? I'm shocked,”
Kazuza didn't anticipate that happening. It seemed that things were
going according to his lady's plans. No doubt she'd be pleased at
the advancements.
“I am too. I wonder what made him change his mind,” she
knew that loving Lucifer was definitely something that caused the
change but she was interested in what led up to those events more
than anything. The last she knew he hated Lucifer and would never
think of doing such things with him, nonetheless admitting that he
loved him.
“I'm sure Lucifer was working his charms really good on him.
After all, he is the chosen one,” there was no doubt accord
to Kazuza. Lucifer and Seraj had an intertwined destiny and
whatever the dark angel wanted he would get. In return, he would
have the thing he so desired as well.
“Whatever happened, things are working in my favor,” a
dark smile crossed the blonde's red lips as she turned to the
monochrome prince. “We need to get ready for the final phase.
We're going to kill Sajani and that guy who's putting her up to
attacking us.” Only after that will she be free of her pact.
She didn't think Seraj could do the job, anyway. He might love
Lucifer, but she hardly found him the kind of man to have the balls
to actually pull through with murder. If he did, well she'd be more
than shocked but if not she'd be there to make sure the dirty work
was carried out.
Above all things, Yaone couldn't afford to fail.
“So…it's time. We're going to have to pack a few
things. This is going to be a long mission, Kazuza was ready to
endure the harsh trials ahead of him, but he knew that his lady
would need more than enough nutrients to keep up that wonderful
life force she had. Worry crossed his face at the thought of a few
things.
“Why do you look so worried? I feel like there's something
that I'm not quite getting,” Yaone didn't really get it. Why
was Kazuza like this? He had always been for some reason,
occasionally casting her worried expressions, especially when she
fell ill which had been more than usual lately.
“Don't you feel strange when you're around me?” He
wanted to know if she figured it out yet. Chances were that she had
not.
“What?” Yaone arched an eyebrow. She really didn't get
what he was talking about.
“Do you feel strange?” Kazuza repeated the
question.
“I've been a little more worn out than usual. Are you telling
me that I should worry about that?” Yaone was really clueless
as to why her prince was inquiring such things. The girl had been
feeling under the weather and weaker than usual, but she simply had
written it off as an illness or the fact that stress was probably
making her body wear down at a quicker rate than usual and
everything would pass. Was this matter more serious than she had
thought? If so, why didn't Kazuza tell her about this before?
The pink-haired flower glanced to the ground with a visage of
sympathy. “It's my fault.”
“Wait, what are you doing to me? Did Lucifer put you up to
this?” There had to be a reason. If there wasn't, then she
didn't know what she was going to do, but above everything she
wasn't going to be pleased. Why did Kazuza feel that he had to keep
things secret from her about something like this? He'd better have
a damned good explanation.
“I was created especially for you,” Kazuza began to
explain before he was interrupted.
“Yeah, I get that. Lucifer made you from one of those flowers
that he found in hell.” Yaone knew Kazuza's origin story. He
didn't need to repeat it. What the hell did it have to do with her
sudden weak spells?
“Do you remember what he said?” Kazuza was a little
curious.
“Yeah, he said I have to take care of you or you'll
die,” Yaone thought they were pretty simple instructions. She
had been taking care of him. Hell, that's why he was alive now,
right? Wasn't that the point of the two of them living
together?
“I depend on you,” the flower prince tried to push the
point.
“I really don't know what you're getting at. Is this some
kind of cryptic message or something?” If Kazuza wanted to
tell her something, she wished that he would have just told her
instead of making her play a guessing game. Yaone was a little
unamused that he would take her on such a meaningless journey.
“I am a parasitic being…Well, or you could call me
symbiotic. Depends on what you think of my powers,” Kazuza
was going to be honest about all of this. He really didn't know
what she was going to think of him. A part of him was afraid of how
she would view him, but it wasn't as if it mattered now that
everything was out on the table.
“You powers?” Yaone was beyond confused. She didn't
like where any of this was going. The only person she even knew
with supernatural powers was Lucifer. It made sense than he would
create a supernatural being, but why would he give her one like
this? Was this to further her punishment? “Is that why I've
been feeling weird lately? What the hell have you been doing to
me?”
She wanted explanations and she wanted them now.
“I have to drain your energy in order to live. That's how
you've been taking care of me. I literally need your energy in
order to live. However, if you don't replenish your energy, then it
very well could kill both of us,” Kazuza hung his head. He
should have told her earlier instead of putting her in such a
state, but he didn't want her to turn him down or try to return him
to Lucifer. In truth, Kazuza was very happy that he was granted
life and he wanted to be the best servant he possibly could. He
truly loved Yaone and would do anything for her, but he didn't want
her rejecting him or throwing him away. To do so would erase his
existence.
Yaone was silent for a while and looked thoughtful, “That
makes sense now…” Blue eyes befell her hand and a frown
tugged at her pink lips as she slowly flexed the appendage.
“That's why I've been feeling lackadaisical lately.”
She then glanced towards Kazuza. “Lucifer did this to punish
me, didn't he?”
“I have a feeling that he more than likely did,” the
pink-haired male averted his vision. It was painful to say, but he
knew it was more than likely the truth of his existence. “Do
you hate me for that?”
A part of him didn't want to hear the answer, but he knew it was
best to hear it now. This was the moment that would define the rest
of their relationship. He felt his body tense and his breath
hitched in his throat. Kazuza was nervous, more so than he had ever
been in his short life.
“Your life is literally in my hands because of him,”
Yaone clenched her hand. Her sights never left it.
“It's going to take a great toll on you if we run into any
complications. Are you willing to take that kind of risk?”
Kazuza had to know this above anything else. He didn't want to
accidentally kill her, or kill her on purpose either.
“I don't care,” her eyes turned piercing as she looked
at him with determination. “I have to see his plans out until
the end. It's the least I can do.” There was no way that she
could die. She wasn't going to allow herself to after all she had
gone through.
“I'm such a burden to you,” Kazuza sighed. He felt like
he was dead weight, especially because he could only live off of
life energy and she was so determined to get out of her pact with
Lucifer. He felt as if he hindered her from doing any of that.
Baggage. That's all he was.
“Lucifer did this so I could grow to love you. He wanted my
hands to cultivate you into someone appropriate for me and if I
stopped caring or didn't think you turned out to my liking then
your blood would be on my hands,” Yaone knew exactly what
Lucifer was trying to do. It was the very same concept that applied
to Seraj.
You get what you wish for.
She wanted so desperately for someone to love her, and when Lucifer didn't work he gave her someone that she could mold to her liking. If she created a monster or someone she disliked, then she would have to kill him, but she would live with knowing that she not only figuratively killed someone but literally killed them as well.
It was the cruelest form of irony.
“I couldn't imagine a life without you. I would rather wither
and die.” If Yaone could not love him, then he not only
failed her, but he had no purpose. Kazuza's only purpose was to be
a perfect partner for the blonde and if he could not then he would
rather her snuff out his life.
“Kazuza…do you mean that or are you just saying that
because you have to put up with me?” Of course he would love
her. She was his only option, right? Looking at it that way only
made her heart fill with sorrow.
“I genuinely mean it. My love for you is hardly fake. You
give everything to keep me alive. It's because of you that I can
function. You're so giving and even now when I told you my secret,
you still aren't mad at me,” Kazuza's feelings were more than
real and if she needed him to prove that to her then he would. He
wasn't above going through great lengths just to gain that love.
Anything she wanted, anything at all would be hers if she so
wished.
“Oh, I'm a little pissed, but at the same time,” she
smiled a little and wrapped her arms around him. “It's not
your fault. It's not the laws of your creation that I should be
angry at - it's your creator. Do you know what the funny thing is?
I can't even be mad at him. I'm the one who did this. It's my own
stupid decisions that made me end up like this.”
Yaone was taking responsibility for her actions. She knew that
becoming the corrupt angel's bride had nothing but repercussions if
she failed him. As a result she would live with her screw ups and
try to rectify them as much as she could.
Sure, she could have blamed Kazuza for her misery, but that was
like blaming a child for someone becoming a parent. It wasn't his
fault that he was created, or even created with that crippling
ability of his. If anything, Yaone felt sorry that the flower
prince had to be pulled into her situation. It was hardly fun for
him. He only knew what she taught him, he literally lived for her
and for someone who had already done so much for her, and she found
it hard to be angry.
“Yaone…as thanks for taking care of me and giving me
your very life force just to keep me alive, I will defeat them so
you can be free of the dark angel's grasp.” Kazuza placed a
hand over his chest and gave her a quaint bow when she pulled away
from the hug. More than anything, he wanted to make her dreams
become a reality.
More than anything, he wanted to see her smile.
“You drain my life force, don't you? Is there any way to gain
it back?” The fact that she now knew that worried her. From
what she knew, life force didn't seem like something she could
replenish.
“Proper eating and sleep should do the trick. Human bodies
constantly store energy, so it shouldn't be a problem as long as I
don't have to drain too much. The last thing I want to do is
accidentally kill you.” If he did that, then he too would
die. Kazuza also didn't want to kill the girl that he loved so
dearly. He didn't know what he would do if her blood were to so
much as touch his hands.
Yaone placed a hand on his shoulder in an attempt to chide his
worries. “I don't want that, either. I want to
live.”
Kazuza looked as if he were in deep thought for a few moments
before an idea hit him. “If we get put into that situation, I
and drain my enemy's energy and give it to you.”
“You can do that?” The blonde asked.
The flower prince smiled, “of course I can. My main power is
to absorb attacks, energy and life force from others. Besides
leeching off of you, I can feed from others. When I get my fill,
any extra energy I receive will go back to you.” That was the
true meaning of their symbiosis. He could be as helpful to her as
she was to him.
“Well, that's pretty cool. I guess those little spells of
yours have some kind of perks,” Yaone smiled. At least all
didn't seem as dim as it was made out to be. Maybe things wouldn't
be that bad between the two of them.
Kazuza smiled, “I feel a lot better having told you. I
thought for sure you'd hate me or even want to kill me.” Now
he could rest easy without those secrets bearing on him, and having
to feel like he had to sneak around just to zap her energy for his
consumption. Now they could have a deeper understanding between
them.
Yaone blinked a little and sighed. “What kind of person do
you take me for?”
Of course she was a Satanist but she wasn't just some cruel,
ruthless bitch who was in this for herself and nothing else. She
did have a heart, although it had been twisted over time, it was
still bigger than people like Lucifer or even Seraj.
“Not everyone is as they seem. Mr. Seraj has changed
dramatically. Sometimes, people have odd ways of shocking you, so I
can never be too sure. Better safe than sorry,” Kazuza
understood that people changed. There was always a chance for
redemption as funny as that idea seemed coming from someone like
him. He had faith that Kazuza could overcome her issues and free
herself from Lucifer.
“I can assure you I'm not like that. Besides, killing you
might have also killed me.” Yaone was glad she didn't make
that stupid decision, not that she would have considered it.
Knowing him, Lucifer set it up that way as well. Everything that
was done had consequences, even if it seemed as if one was getting
what they wanted.”Lucifer wasn't too descriptive about what
he had planned with all of that. I know that angel can be full of
nasty tricks.”
“Should we head off now?” Kazuza hated to cut off their
conversation but he knew if he didn't they would talk forever and
not get anything done. He didn't want to be counterproductive.
“Yeah, I think I'm ready,” Yaone turned away from
him.
“Are you sure?” Her answer didn't sound too
positive.
“I can run back here if I need anything. Do you know the way
to Seraj's house?” She wanted to make sure that he didn't get
lost.
“Not completely,” Kazuza felt a little embarrassed by
that fact. He really felt as if he should have known it, but he
just hadn't been there enough to really know the route enough to
memorize it properly. “I haven't been there too many times,
but you're going with me. You can show me.”
Yaone sighed, but he was right. She might as well show him. He'd
never learn otherwise. “I forget that you're literally a
child sometimes.” Just then an idea hit her. “Wait,
before we go, do you need any energy?” She had completely
forgotten to ask him about that.
“I'm fine for now,” the flower said as he walked
towards the door. Yaone followed him as the two headed down the
road to Seraj's house.
XxXxXxXxXx
Seraj walked back into the room after hanging up the phone and saw
Lucifer sitting around on the bed he was once resting peacefully
on, his black wings were stretched out and took up a large portion
of the room. Black feathers had sheen like an oil spill as beams of
sunlight danced off of them.
“I told her. She's on her way here,” Seraj informed the
dark angel.
“I take it she told you so?” That conversation was
pretty long. He figured that something must have happened between
now and then.
“Yeah, she did. Do you honestly think I want to talk about
that right now?” Seraj frowned and snapped at him. He was
suffering enough without that angel rubbing acid into his
wounds.
Lucifer arose from the bed, minding his wings as he walked over to
the boy and stared down at him with those black eyes with mint
green irises. “You look like you're dreading this,” his
voice was full of amusement rather than sympathy.
“Shut up, Seraj growled. He was already tired of his
shit.
Suddenly, the boy felt fingers caress his chin and tip it up to
look at him. “I love that suffering on your face.”
There was nothing more satisfying to a sadist than the look of pure
pain.
Orange eyes glared daggers into the angel's body. “I don't
want to know about you getting off to my pain.”
Lucifer bent down and claimed his lips for a moment before pulling
back. “Be glad I even bothered with you.” Did he really
need to remind him that he never really said yes to his little
request about belonging to him? It wasn't as if it mattered anyway,
humans should know that they were toys in the hands of the
divine…or in this case the antichrist.
“Ugh,” Seraj groaned and averted his eyes, “I
almost wished I was disappointed.” However, he couldn't be
with the taste of sin hanging onto his lips.
“You'll be thanking me in the end.” That Lucifer would
make sure of.
“I doubt that,” the Nepali boy scowled.
“You won't,” Lucifer smiled and stared at the boy for a
few moments before his attention was diverted to a knock at the
door. The angel turned his head and he and the human boy stared at
the door for a few moments before looking at each other.
“You answer it,” Seraj had done enough for the day.
That lazy angel could get the door for once.
“What if it isn't them?” Lucifer was a little hesitant
considering he was still healing.
“I'm not expecting anyone else. Besides, you killed all of my
friends. I'm pretty sure no one would dare show up because everyone
I get close to dies,” Seraj squinted at the angel and gave
him a dark look of malice. Who the hell else was going to show up?
At this point, he literally had no one.
“That's your fault,” the angel decided to rub even more
acid into his wounds. At this point it was eating through his
bones. A prang of guilt stabbed the boy in the heart, because he
knew that it was true. He had essentially traded multiple lives to
prolong the life or a girl he ultimately was going to kill anyway.
Nothing felt more hopeless than this situation.
“Just go,” Seraj snapped. Right now, he just wanted
