Chapter 9:
Aiko put down her fork with a satisfied sigh.
“I'll take that as a sign that the food was good?” Matthew asked her, amusement in his voice.
Aiko looked up to see a smile lighting his face and offered him one of her own. “Amazingly good! It's the best pasta I've ever tasted.”
“Good,” Matthew said, standing up and heading for the kitchen. “But, I hope you still have room for desert.”
“Always!” she called out as he disappeared into the kitchen.
A minute later he came back, carrying two plates of perfect looking chocolate swirl cheesecake. Setting one plate in front of her and one in front of him he sat down.
Quickly she took a bite; it was delicious. “Mmm… this is great. Did you make it too?”
“Umm… no,” he looked sheepish. “My attempt at making dessert kind of flopped. Anyways it looked horrendous.”
Aiko set her fork down. “I want some,” she stated.
“Some of the cake I made?” he asked, looking incredulous.
“Yes, you put some of your time and effort into it and I won't let it go to waste,” she said adamantly.
“Are you sure?” Matthew questioned warily. She nodded. “All right.”
He was out of the room and back a minute later with only one plate in his hands. He set it in front of her and she stared at it. Clearly the cake had fallen while baking, but other then that it looked like a chocolate cake and smelled like it too.
“You don't have to eat it,” he informed her, noticing a grimace on her face.
She ignored his warnings and took a good bite out of it. Matthew held his breath for her reaction. Would she throw up from it? Would she throw it in his face? Oh, he just knew he was never going to see her again. Then he heard a surprising noise.
“Mmm…”
He was so shocked that he listened closer. And sure enough there was the sound again. “Mmm…”
“Is it good?” he finally asked.
“Mm hm,” she said, savoring the rich, moist bite in her mouth. She heard him let out the breath he was holding and she decided to let him have a bite. “Here.”
She held out the fork to him, completely intending on feeding him. Hesitantly he took the offered bite, and then leaned back. The rich taste of chocolate hit him instantly.
“Mm… that is good,” he concluded.
“See.” She smiled. “I'm going to eat this all.”
He chuckled. “And what about the cheesecake?”
“I'll eat that too. I don't know how you figured out that cheesecake and chocolate are my most favorite things in the world,” she replied.
He smiled. “I must have read your mind.”
“Maybe… but you should have known that I wouldn't care about what something looks like,” she chided.
He put his elbows on the table and held his head up in his hands. He looked at her thoughtfully. “No you're right. I'll remember that for future reference.”
“You definitely do that,” she said taking another enjoyable bite.

“So did you decide on what movie you want to watch yet?” Matthew asked the girl who was snuggled into his shoulder.
“Mm,” was her reply as she moved in closer. “It's a hard decision, X2 or American Sweethearts.”
He looked down at her, her face showed a thoughtful scowl. She looked too cute that he just had to kiss her. He leaned down and placed a soft kiss on the top of her head.
Aiko looked up at him in surprise. “What was that for?”
He shrugged. “For being you.”
“I hope that's a good thing.” She frowned, sitting up to look at him.
“Very good thing,” he confirmed, pushing back a loose lock of hair, his fingers grazing her cheek.
She leaned into the slight touch. “That's… good,” she murmured.
“You're beautiful, you know,” he told her caressing her cheek as he stared.
“Looks don't matter remember…” she breathed out.
“I know… I guess it's a plus that you're smart, kind, funny….” he complimented, placing a kiss on each cheek with every word.
She responded in kind, rewarding him with a fiery kiss. Surprised at first, it took him a second for him to pull her body up to his and wrapped his arms around her as he deepened the kiss. The movie was completely forgotten as he lowered her down onto the couch and continued to kiss her thoroughly.
He pulled back only to move his lips to rest on her neck, leaving small kisses up and down her throat.
“Mmm,” she whimpered, letting her hands trail over his back. His kisses moved over to her bare shoulder, letting one hand push the strap of her shirt down, exposing a bit more skin. He kissed the uncovered portion and she moaned out her approval. Just as she was letting her hands trail up into his shirt, touching his bare skin, her cell phone rang.
He stopped his ministrations, leaning his forehead against hers and breathed out, “Do you want to answer that?”
Aiko scowled at the offensive piece of technology. “No, not particularly,” she answered. The ringing stopped a second later. “There, now come back down here,” she urged.
He gave her a smirk before going down for an even more intense kiss. Things were getting hot as he trailed his hand up her leg to rest at her hip. Neither one of them wanted to stop. That's why they both groaned when her cell phone rang again.
“Maybe you should see who it is,” Matthew suggested, lifting off of her.
“I already know who it is. My parents, of course. Somehow they always know when I'm doing something they disapprove of,” she stated bitterly. Then she picked up the phone and flipped it open. “Hi mom. Yeah I'm fine. The movie just finished. Yeah I'll be home soon. Ok, bye.”
“You told them you watched the move already?” he asked, confused.
“They think we're at a movie theater. They've got it timed with allowances. So they expect me home soon,” she explained; when he looked even more puzzled, she added, “Look, my parents are really traditional, which equals really strict. They generally want me married before I… um… do anything.”
“Oh,” he replied and then hesitantly went on. “Does that mean you've never…”
“Umm… once,” she confessed, blushing furiously. “Anyways I think I should get going.”
“All right,” he said. “But we have another practice Wednesday morning, can you come?”
“Wednesday, huh? Well since it's only finals time. I guess I can spare some of my studying time for you,” she teased.
“Great and then we can have lunch together after,” he made the plans.
“That sounds nice,” she agreed. Standing up she made her way to the door.
“Umm… I'll go get your coat,” Matthew offered quickly.
Aiko had just enough time to think, `This was the best date ever,' before he was back and helping her into her coat. “Thank you,” she murmured. “I had a really good time.”
“Me too,” he replied, giving her a smile. “I can't wait for Wednesday.”
“Me either,” she said. “Well… good night.”
“Night.”
With a quick kiss she was out of the door.
`Man that was awesome,' he thought, as he closed the door behind her.
