~~ Sammy ~~
Sammy stood up on shaky legs. She'd just awoke from what seemed to have been a terrible nightmare. Looking around, she wasn't too far off. The ground was dusty and hard; gusts of wind occasionally blew the dirt around into the air, carrying it off to parts unknown. Not far away, there was a small village, tall figures in the distance walked about, wearing neutral colors: black, gray, white, tan, and brown. As she grew closer, Sammy noticed they were not even human. Far from it. Her sparkling azure eyes were wide in shock. These creatures had roughly the same physical shape of a human, but were nearly eight feet tall. Thick, long horns protruded through heavy metal helmets; they were animal-like in facial features - long snouts beady, narrow black eyes, and large mouths filled with a row of carnivorous, sharp teeth.
They swaggered oddly, their joints sturdy, making them appear strong and agile. When she moved close enough, Sammy ducked behind a barrel of rotting fruit, then wrinkled her nose at the foul stench. Maybe Scott and Dylan are here... she presumed hopefully, but if they were, the barbaric-looking villagers may have captured them. She now saw they wore chain mail armor and metal breastplates. They were definitely a race of fighters. Most carried some form of weapon, including the female.
“Hey you!” a loud, booming voice came from behind Sammy as large, clawed hands reached out to apprehend the human. It grabbed her before she could run, so she did the first thing that came to mind as she panicked.
She screamed.
Then chaos was unleashed.
The others turned and looked at her in surprise. Everything before Sammy soon lay in ruins at her feet as the creature that had apprehended her attempted to stand. They stared at the cobalt-eyed woman in awe, but Sammy's mind was reeling. What just happened? Did... did I really do that? Somehow in that instant the wind had come to life, as if by her command, and tossed her attacker through an adjacent cottage as easily as picking up a rag doll. Suddenly, it picked up again, swirling until her feet left the ground. Sammy was nearly ten feet in the air before she ceased to ascend and hovered over the village. The silent wind caused her hair to flair out wildly like crackling fire. The village was silenced, vendors halted their sales, and every eye turned to Sammy in admiration. Next, to her surprise, one by one the villagers bowed.
“The Wind Goddess has finally answered our praises and sacrifices. She has graced us with her presence and shall lead us into battle victoriously.” Wha- Sammy couldn't complete the thought, No... They all cheered uproariously. The wind then became calmer as Sammy did, now knowing there was no danger, and she gently floated back to the surface. The one was had spoken stepped foreword and kneeled.
“We Chimera are honored, Your Majesty.” he stated. “I am Fen, commander of the Chimerian army. We have arranged a worthy temple for your stay until Your Majesty leaves us and return to the Heavens.”
"Uh... your Queen is pleased.” Sammy replied, thinking quickly. Immediately guards arrived and led her to the temple, which ended up being rather nice despite primitive qualities.
There was a shrine dedicated to the worship of the Wind Goddess. It was surrounded by lit candles and sweet smelling incense. A fire place in the corner heated the temple and a small, narrow bed with elaborate covering lay in the opposite corner. Sammy turned back to Fen, who spoke before she could.
“Our fight is tomorrow, Your majesty. I shall see you on the battlefield.” With that, he and the guards departed, leaving her alone.
Tomorrow? I've got to get out of here...
