"No, you love me," he purred his tail sliding up her dress as he chewed on his fish.
She pushed his tail away. "Unless I'm begging for it, I don't want it. Keep your tail to yourself," she said and started to eat.
"Well, I'll just have to make you beg for it more," he smirked. After eating some more of his fish, he looked at her, biting his lip while he toyed with the rest of his food. "What would you do if you were stuck like this?"
She stopped eating. She didn't really want to think about being stuck like this. "I...don't know."
"Well...it's something to think about," he told her. "I mean...well, if you're stuck as an Eldarian, there are certain things we'd need to do for you. Especially if we wanted to...get married."
Alana head shot up from her plate to look at him. His face looked remarkable in the candlelight. His eyes were serious and his face calm as always. She put her fork down. "We...haven't really talked about that."
Yori smirked. "Well, do you want to? Get married that is."
She looked away. "I don't know about that either. I never really thought I would ever settle down. Before I got serious with you, I just thought I would always just fool around with guys. I enjoyed it though, I got bored with most of them." She turned to him again, watching the light from the candle dance on his face. "I'm only sixteen...I'm skipping school and I don't really know what I'm doing with my life now that I've helped give Eldarians set on the path to equal rights. I don't really know if I want to get married anymore."
Yori nodded, surprised that a part of him was actually hurt by that. "Well, the decision is yours. Personally, I never really had any plans for my life," he admitted. "I know that I don't want to stay on earth all my life."
Her heart was racing. "Where would you go?"
He shrugged. "No idea. I just know that earth isn't for me. There are hundreds of planets in the galaxy. Each with their own species, own customs, own lives.... I couldn't imagine just staying here my entire life. I want to go out and explore them, and when I get bored exploring I'll find a planet I like and settle down."
"Settle down? You don't want kids." Why have they never talked about this before? Why have these things never come up? Was it because she never wanted to bring these things up with Blue Yori or because she knew at the time Golden Yori never was the type to talk about it? These were important things... They could make or break a relationship.
"I didn't. A part of me still doesn't think that it would be a good idea. However, since my two sides have finally seen eye to eye, so to speak, it's harder to deny some of fish boy's arguments. A part of me wonders what would have happened if we had decided to keep the kid. That part is fish boy, but it still affects me. So, in time, when I've had my fill of adventure and risk taking I think that kids...might be somewhat acceptable."
"Acceptable? You make it sound like a dress code," she mumbled. Picking up her fork she pushed at her food. "I think...that ever since both your sides came to be as one, we both have changed. And I don't mean the cat ears and tail. When I look at you, a part of my heart breaks. I love you both equally but in different ways. Even though I tried to think of you as two sides of the same person, I still saw you as two separate people. Two different men I loved very much." She watched the candle flicker for a moment before looking at him again. "I don't know if I will want to have kids knowing that you are the one that will carry them if we were to marry. I've never thought about marriage before you but I've always thought about children. I've always wanted them at some point in my life and I always wanted to go through a pregnancy. I've grown up knowing that the woman carries the child and the man does not...knowing that it's the opposite for someone I might marry is like telling me that the grass is blue and the sky is green. It's just very hard for me to accept."
He didn't say anything at first. He ate another piece of fish while thinking about what she'd just said. "I...guess that is understandable," he told her. He kept his face free from emotions. He didn't want her to know that what she was saying actually kind of upset. "Dealing with an alien race is always complicated, especially when they are different."
He pushed his food around on his plate until he thought of something else to say. "Well, children aside. What would you think about traveling with me?" He figured that changing the subject to something more pleasant might be better.
She looked down. "Yori...if you want to be together...we should talk about these things. Family, marriage, lifestyle. These things are important. Yes, we can have fun fooling around and I would love to travel with you but honestly...I don't want to be with someone unless I have a plan to be with them forever. It's why I never had a boyfriend and why I only fooled around."
Taking a deep breath he put down his fork and sighed. "Okay then. Where do you want to begin?" If this was going to be something that he had to do, he might as well get it over with. She was somewhat important to him. He'd never wanted anyone like her. She was a weakness, a desire that he couldn't push away. Could he spend his life with her? Yes, that was a possibility.
"You asked me if I wanted to marry you. Was that a proposal?"
His ears flattened against his head. Was it? "Yes. We'll go with that. It was a proposal."
She glared at him. "Is this a joke to you? Because I'm not laughing, Yori!" she yelled. She stood. "Forget it! I couldn't talk to you even if I paid you in sex!" Putting her coat on she started down the stairs. "I'm going home."
Yori reached out and grabbed her. "First off, you already pay me in sex. Secondly I'm not laughing so it's not a joke." Rolling his eyes, he let her go and put his hands in his pockets. "Alana, will you marry me?" God, he felt like such a tool when he asked that. She better as hell appreciate it. He deserved head when this was over.
She crossed her arms. "No," she said bluntly and continued down the stairs.
"What the hell? I just said what you wanted me to," he said as he followed after her. "Are you saying no for real, or are you saying it cause your pissed?"
"I didn't ask you to ask me to marry you. I asked you if when you said you wanted to marry me was it a proposal or just starting wishful thinking. You made a joke out of it." She glared at him and used her best 'Yori voice' she could use. "Yes? Let's go with that one." She pushed him. "Remember that? You shouldn't have to question it! You should just know if that's what you meant or not! Not because you think I wanted you to ask me! God! Blue Yori would know that! And he was only ten!" She turned back around and walked through the building and out the door while people stared.
Yori growled. "What the hell are you looking at?" People scattered as he followed after her. "Fine! I want to marry you! You happy? I want to spend the rest of my life with you, and damn you making me say that."
Alana picked up some snow and threw it at him. She was so mad! How could he be so...ugh! Again, she picked up snow and threw it at him. "That's not the point! You already ruined the moment! I tried to get serious and talk about the future and you throw it at my face!" Again she threw snow at him.
"You're not exactly helping the mood by pelting me with snow!" He grabbed a handful and tossed it at her. "You want to talk? Fine, let's talk! Just quit throwing snow at me! It's cold!"
The snow hit her and she shivered. She threw another snow ball at him. "I want to know if you are serious about spending your life with me!" she yelled and threw another ball.
He growled and tossed another snowball at her. "Of course I am! Do you really think I'd talk about marriage if I wasn't serious? Eldarians mate for life."
"And what about children! I want to have babies! And I want them coming out of me!" she screamed and threw snow, watching it his his chest.
He took a big chunk of snow and tossed it at her, blanketing her in the stuff. "We'll figure it out," he growled. "I don't have all the answers for this stuff!"
She brushed the snow off her while shivering. Wearing a dress in the snow with heels is a horrible idea. She threw another snow ball, hitting him in the face and watching him stumble back. "Ok..."
He wiped the snow from his face and glared at her. "What do you mean 'ok'?"
"Ok we can figure it out. But we should figure it out before we decide to get married," she said walking over to him and brushing some of the snow off him.
He sighed, trying to relax as she brushed the snow off of him. "Okay," he said. "Does talking about emotional stuff usually involve fighting in the snow?"
She shrugged. "It's the first time I've been in a relationship and got mad enough to throw snow. Just be glad it's snow and not something else like knives or something."
He wrapped his arms around her and sighed. "You don't want to go there," he told her. "I'd end up killing you."
She leaned her head against his chest. "Considering the fact that I've been kicking your ass lately, I would seriously doubt that. Take me home. I'm cold...and wet."
"You haven't been kicking my ass. I don't get my ass kicked." Scooping her into his arms he started to carry her home as she requested. He'd never really considered settling down or spending his life with someone. It just wasn't him, and he wasn't certain if he could do it with Alana. It wasn't that he had numerous plans for his life, but could he really just be with one person? The thought scared him and excited him at the same time.
Alana purred as he carried her. His warm body made her feel better after being drenched in the cold snow water. She nuzzled him and rubbed her claws through his hair up to his ears. Yawning, she closed her eyes. In her head, she had been right. Marriage really wasn't for her. But she could change that with time. People change all the time. She had changed a lot since she had been with Yori and he had changed as well. Maybe with time marrying him would be something that seemed right and even if she didn't, she couldn't really see herself with anyone else. Yori showed her things she never knew existed. He knew her body like a map and he loved her. Wasn't that enough?
He purred as her claws ran through his hair. Pushing open their door, he kicked it close and carried her to their bed. He didn't bother setting her down, instead he just plopped down and held her. "I think that I might love you," he said with a yawn. He was tired, cold, and wet. He could be hard and horny later. Right now he just wanted to sleep.
Alana pulled away from him to peel the wet clothes off him and her. Afterward, she snuggled in to him and closed her eyes. "Don't get mushy on me. I'll burn you at the stack."
"I wouldn't dream of it," he told her. "I just wanted to see you naked."
She growled and pulled away from him, moving to her side of the bed. "Way to go. You ruined the moment."
He groaned, sitting up just long enough to pull at her tail. "Come here kitty. You can't stay mad at me. I'll rub your ears."
She looked over at him and pulled her tail back. "Stop using my unwanted appendages against me." She moved over to him anyways and crawled on his stomach for warmth. Sleep was so needed.
He smiled and wrapped an arm around her, running his hand over her back while his free hand went up and gently stroked her ears so that she could fall asleep quicker. He was tired, but he didn't think that he'd get much sleep tonight. He had a lot to think about.
Alana went to sleep moments later while purring but woke a few hours later with the heat taking her over. She demanded sex and Yori didn't complain. Afterward, she went back to sleep. She woke in the morning still laying on top of Yori. Yawning and stretching, she purred and licked his chin over and over until he opened his eyes.
Yori groaned as her tongue ran over him. "I can't help but notice that you're using your tongue a lot more since you went all kitty cat on me." He opened his eyes, smirking as she licked him again. He liked it. He wasn't going to complain.
She pulled back, putting her hands on the side of his head so she close look down at him. "Well...I wouldn't get use to it. I'm hoping I'll be back to normal soon."
He frowned. Reaching up he rubbed her ears. "And what if you aren't?"
She sat back, out of his reach. "Stop messing with my ears, you know what it does to me," she said then sighed. "I don't know what I'll do if I can't go back to normal. Being human is all I know. I don't know how to be an Eldarian. I don't know much about your species at all. I still don't understand how in the world your men get pregnant."
He smirked and propped himself up on his elbows. "It's complicated," he laughed. "Basically our women are only there for DNA and protection." He stroked her face and sighed. "If you are stuck like this, you don't have to be Eldarian. Your race doesn't define you. It's just a part of you."
"If I'm stuck like this, I will be treated like an Eldarian. I won't be human anymore. I need to be something I know. I can't just go from being human for sixteen years then wake up to being a whole new species. Imagine how you would feel if you were suddenly turned into a human," she said moving her face into his hand.
He smiled at this. "It wouldn't be so bad. When I was younger I use to dream of being human. Luckily I grew out of that phase," he laughed and looked at her. "If we went away, traveled the stars, it wouldn't matter what you were."
She got off him and started for the bathroom for a shower. "I want to be human, Yori. I liked who I was. I don't like my emotions controlling me."
"Well, hopefully they'll be able to fix it," he told her as she shut the door. "But I hope you're prepared for the worst."
After a shower, Alana started picking up the house once again. She tried fixing the broken chairs and torn couch, but decided the best thing to do was to just pay for the damages when the landlord found out. She sat on the floor after cleaning everything to count what money she had left from what she took from her aunt. There was still a lot left, but she feared it wasn't enough to last until she was eighteen. She should have gotten more.
