“Transformation”
After Azami had changed into a pair of jeans and a red shirt (and after recovering of the impression of Arthion's age) Both human and dragon leaved the Sunao and entered a forest near the town, all in complete silence - the prince didn't seem to want any kind of approach-. After what seemed like hours to Azami, they arrived at the feet of the mountain; Arthion sniffed the air and looked in all directions, making sure no one was following them.
“We must enter that cave, it leads directly to my kind's territory” he said, signaling a wide cave that seemed to go through the mountain. Without even waiting for her, Arthion entered, and Azami had to run to catch him.
“Wait!” she said grabbing his arm, “maybe you can see in there, but I can't. It's completely dark! Don't you have a lantern or something?” she asked and, realizing she was touching him, released his arm, noticing he had blushed slightly. Arthion then took a deep breath and, mumbling something about `the great help' Azami would be, picked up a piece of wood and blew some fire in it, creating a torch. After that, both continued through the cave.
“It seems he's alive” said a figure, seated on a throne and hidden in the shadows; he was talking to Locien, who was kneeling in front of him.
“Eh… yes, my lord. Forgive me, I should have checked… but I can correct my mistake right now” said Locien, afraid of his lord's rage. He, however, answered with a calm voice.
“Don't worry, Locien. After all, he's not a big threat… the war and his forced loneliness had made him cold and egotistical, no one would follow a prince like him. Just send one of our men to finish him” said the figure, none other than Morothar.
“Are you sure, my lord? I could easily defeat him…”
“I know, but why waste your energy with him? He's weak, I know, no match even for our weakest soldiers. Besides, I need you to search something” Morothar said, and gave Locien a violet envelope. “Now go” he ordered. Locien made a reverence and leaved the hall.
Meanwhile, Arthion and Azami walked in silence by the cave, each one with his/her own thoughts. Arthion couldn't stop thinking about his revenge, but also in the strange way his human companion had acted towards him, a perfect stranger. `Why she, a common human, is ready to help me while all my people seem to have abandoned me?' he thought, remembering his lost allies. Azami, on the other hand, had many questions: how was it no one knew dragons existed? Was Arthion's appearance real, or was it some kind of `costume' that hid his dragon appearance? Could he breathe fire and use magic, as people said dragons did? However, she was afraid to ask him… although he was polite and serious, she had discovered he had a bad temper, especially when talking about his “kind” as he called them, so she didn't want to argue again. After all, if he really WAS a dragon, it wouldn't be wise to make him angry.
Suddenly, he interrupted her trail of thoughts. “We've arrived. See? It was not as long as you thought” he said. They had arrived to the other side.
When Azami went out, she was surprised to find another forest. It seemed old, as old as his habitants, with great trees. When she advanced a little further, she distinguished some kind of houses beneath the trees, not too far away… but the she saw something at her feet, on the floor: a body, a dragon's body, lying dead in front of her. She felt terrified and sorry… the body seemed young, like a child. Arthion stepped by her side and looked at the body but, to her horror, did nothing more than look for a second and continued walking.
“How can you be like that! This is one of your kind, a child! It's impossible that…” she began to protest, but he suddenly stopped and sniffed the air again.
“Step back” he ordered.
Immediately, a giant brown dragon appeared in front of them, his four strong paws making the ground tremble. Azami watched with horror at the imponent creature: his brown scales, enormous wings, his tail, his horns… and his face with pointed teeth.
“Arthion” he said, “my lord has ordered your death, and I shall do his biding”.
Arthion simply stared at him with fierce eyes. “Ms Hayabusa, take cover, this can be dangerous”.
Azami was too scared to protest, but she was worried… how was Arthion going to defeat the other dragon, who was a REAL dragon and far bigger than any human? However, her question was answered almost immediately, as Arthion began to transform.
Arthion's skin became black, transforming into scales. His hands and feet became paws, and from his back a pair of dark wings appeared; his head was no longer human, but dragon-like, with two horns, and he had also a tail. In a matter of seconds, the prince was no longer human, but an imponent black dragon nearly as big as a house. With no more words, both creatures started to figth.
