“New Ally”
Azami was petrified; she had thought Arthion to be invulnerable… now she could only watch his body lying in the ground. He didn't move, so she ran to his side, while in her head she had many questions. She was now totally confused about him; first, the prince had said his people's lives were indifferent to him, but his sad look at the camp had told her otherwise. Seconds later, he was risking his life to protect them. Why? She wondered. However, Azami forgot all her doubts when she arrived to Arthion's side.

“Arthion?” she called him, but he didn't answer.

She then placed him gently on his back, placing his head on her lap, in order to see the wound. What she saw almost made her faint: Arthion's skin was completely slashed, and in some parts she could even see the rib's bones. To make things worse, his healing abilities seemed to have stopped, he was bleeding and the wound was too deep for her to stop it.

The commander then looked at her, clearly amused.
“Ah, it seems our exiled prince has a new friend… well then, you shall join him in death” he said, and pointed his hand towards her.

Azami was desperate; she could feel Arthion's blood flowing towards the ground. `What should I do now? I have to protect them' she thought… in that moment, the commander fired another blast.

Just like before, when the attack approached her the medallion glowed, creating a barrier that stopped it. The villagers - and above all, the commander- were surprised, but the dragons took refuge behind Azami, being now protected too by the barrier. The commander's expression had suddenly changed, he was now angry.

“Alright, you want it the hard way, human” he said, and transformed in his dragon form.

Azami was starting to lose her confidence; she certainly couldn't fight a dragon, the villagers seemed to weakened and battered to fight, and the only one with the strength to do so was practically dying on her lap. As if it felt Azami's uneasiness, the barrier vanished. `Oh, God… someone, please, help!' she thought, and started to tremble.

The gray dragon was about to attack when, suddenly, another dragon opposed him, and placed himself in front of Azami and the villagers.

“You!” the commander said… he seemed to know him well.

Azami then observed the new dragon: it was red, and seemed the same size of Arthion. Without a warning, the red dragon exhaled fire towards the commander. The other dragon was furious now, but when he was about to attack, a woman's voice in his head stopped him

“Retreat, now” the voice ordered him, “my husband orders you to retreat, you shall deal with them later”.

“Yes, my lady” the commander answered mentally. “You're lucky… we shall settle this later, traitor” he said, and leaved with haste.

When he leaved, the red dragon transformed in his human form: a young man, about Arthion's age (but with dragons one can never know, Azami thought), with long red hair tied in a ponytail and eyes of the same color. He immediately turned towards Azami and ran to her. Azami scared and her barrier appeared again, impeding him to pass.

“Please, miss… I'm a friend, let me help you” he said, and Azami could hear the obvious desperation in his voice.

She didn't know if she could trust him, but a soft moan of pain from Arthion made her choose: without help, the prince was dead and, after all, the red-eyed dragon had fought the commander, thus saving all of them. She relaxed a little, and the barrier disappeared. The red dragon rushed to Arthion's side, ignoring her.

“Arthion? Please, my prince, my friend, wake up… please! Tell me I'm not too late” the dragon begged.

Azami relaxed even more; the dragon's tone showed he deeply cared for the prince. Then, to her surprise, Arthion reacted to his voice and muttered painfully “The… poison…”. The red dragon looked at her.

“We must take him to a friend's house, she will help us”.

Azami watched him. “Ok, I guess I have no choice but, who are you?” she asked.

“Sorry… my name is Faeron. I'm Arthion's best friend and the prince's second in command” he answered.
