Identity
Hayden got up early the next morning, as he usually did, but he gave me a goodbye kiss before he left. I felt more alone than usual without him by my side, but I reminded myself that he needed to tend to his responsibilities, as did I. I hardly bothered to get dressed; I knew our ritual would continue again after dinner. It would continue until he impregnated me. After our first child, we would wait for a year and then try again. Our goal was to have as many children as possible. The fate of humanity depended on it.
After dinner, we went into the bedroom. I took my shorts off and waited in bed for him. He came quickly, eager to have sex. He left his clothes at the foot of the bed and crawled on top of the covers. He didn't enter at first. He was content to feel me-touch every part of my body. Not that I minded. I loved feeling his fingers gently caressing the contours of my body. He put his fingers to my lips, then traced them down my neck, across my nipples, down my belly, across my hips, and finally to my crotch. He let his hand rest there for several minutes, feeling me go hard underneath his touch. I could feel his hardness pressed against my inner thigh, but he still didn't enter. He leaned forward and kissed my lips. He let his tongue meander down my neck and across my shoulder blade. He went lower and took my nipple in his mouth. The act surprised me, but I felt a burst of passion. I could barely conceal a moan.
“Harou, I want to taste you. I want to know what you taste like,” he murmured.
“Yes,” I breathed as his mouth worked lower. His mouth sucked the skin of my belly and went down even more. His head went in between my legs and he took my cock in his mouth. Panting heavily, I tilted my head back as he sucked harder and harder. When he withdrew, there was a bit of liquid trickling down the side of his mouth. He slammed his mouth to mine and our bodies entwined. As I stared into his frosted eyes, his seed coursed through me, and somehow, that gave me the strength I needed.

Chapter 3
Two weeks later, Daire was unexpectedly called out of class. Not knowing why, he followed a guard down the hallways and into a small room. A tall thin man sat behind a desk.
“Hello Daire. My name is John and I'm what you'd call the director here at The Institute. Do you know why I called you here?” the man said with a smile.
“No sir,” Daire answered, shaking his head.
“Well, let's wait for your mate to Arrive and then I'll explain what's happening.”
The door opened, causing Daire to turn around. He stared as Aleksei, surrounded by several guards entered.
“You may leave,” John addressed the guards, waving his hand. The guards murmured amongst themselves, but obeyed.
“Come forward, Aleksei. Stand by Daire.”
Aleksei hesitatingly moved forward. He never acknowledged Daire's presence in the room.
“I have called both of you here because it is time for you to be bound together. This verbal agreement will be consummated after Daire's first heat and your bodies connect. You will be bound together as mates until the end. Now Aleksei, take Daire's hand.”
Daire heard Aleksei hiss softly under his breath, but the red haired teen reached out and took Daire's hand. John started a long speech and Daire closed his eyes, trying to block the words out. Aleksei's grip tightened. Daire finally opened his eyes.
“Aleksei?” John asked.
Aleksei gritted his teeth, knowing what he had to do. He turned to Daire and repeated the words John told him, vowing to protect him as his mate, and so on. Then, it was Daire's turn. His voice trembled badly as he spoke each word. The last words died in his throat.
“Aleksei?” John asked again.
Aleksei snarled under his breath and seized Daire by the shoulders. He pulled Daire in so they were inches apart.
“Look, I'm doing this because I have to and for no other reason, all right?” he hissed.
Daire nodded, frightened. He felt his heart beat faster and faster as Aleksei's lips closed over his. The older boy quickly pulled away and shoved Daire roughly against the wall. He hurried out of the room.
“Aleksei!” John barked, rising. There was a scuffle outside and Aleksei was dragged back into the room by several of the guards. They tightly held onto him even though he struggled greatly to free himself.
“Aleksei! Control yourself!” John barked. Aleksei spat obscenities at him. “ALEKSEI!!” Aleksei didn't listen. Daire pressed himself harder against the wall as Aleksei momentarily broke free and tried to sprint from the room. “Get him! Don't let him get away!”
The guards hurried after him. They dragged him back into the room a second time. John pulled something from one of his desk drawers. At first, Daire thought it was a gun, but then he saw it was a syringe. John stepped forward and stuck the syringe into Aleksei's forearm. Aleksei howled in pain and tried to rip the syringe out. The guards held him still as John pushed the syringe down. There was a moment when Aleksei continued his struggle to get free, and then he fell limp. John straightened up, breathing heavily. He turned to Daire, trying to control his rage.
“You may leave. One of the guards will escort you back to your lessons,” he said. Daire nodded. He threw a glance at Aleksei as he left. Somehow, he got the feeling that he was the reason for
Aleksei's sudden outburst. He wanted to curl up and die as he went back to his lessons.
“Daire? What's wrong?” Caelyn asked as Daire took his seat.
“Nothing,” Daire lied. He couldn't shake the feeling that there was something wrong with
Aleksei.

Aleksei stood in John's office unrestrained. He waited for what he knew was coming. He stood tall as John exploded in his face.
“WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU ALEKSEI, RUNNING OUT ON YOUR MATE LIKE THAT?! AND IN THE MIDDLE OF ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT CEREMONIES HERE AT THE INSTITUTE! ” he screamed, his face turning bright red, as it usually did when he got angry. Aleksei said nothing and allowed John to continue his rant. “Do you want the boy to be afraid of you?”
“How do you know…?” Aleksei began.
“I can tell!” John interrupted, never lowering his voice. “I've been watching him ever since he came here to The Institute and I can see that he's frightened of you! Is that what you want?!”
“I never wanted to come here in the first place,” Aleksei muttered. John smacked him hard.
“You should be grateful! You should be grateful that I was able to bend the rules so that you could come and live here. You know your kind are not welcome here.”
Aleksei's face flushed. “ I am not a slut.”
“That's not what I heard,” John sneered. “You have quite a reputation, or so I've heard.”
“What you've heard is wrong.”
“Oh, but I have very reliable informants,” John said, raising his eyebrows. Aleksei growled under his breath. “Now you listen good, Aleksei. You have caused nothing but trouble since the day you arrived here. You had better get your act together and soon, or else you'll face severe consequences.”
“What? You gonna throw me out of this place? I have no objections to leaving.”
“You cannot leave. You have a mate now.”
“That's why you gave me him as my mate. So I wouldn't be able to leave,” Aleksei growled.
“No,” John said in a sharp voice that caused Aleksei to stare at him. “That is not why I chose Daire to be your mate, although, admittedly, that is a bonus.”
“So why the hell am I his mate?”
“You shall see in time.”
“Bastard! Answer me!”
“Now Aleksei, I don't think you are in such a position to be giving orders, seeing as you are already in hot water.”
“Yeah?” Aleksei challenged. “What are you gonna do to me? Life here is already a living hell.”
“You and your mate will be spending some…ah…quality time together for the next three days.”
“Three days?!” Aleksei exploded. “Why the hell do I have to spend three days with him?!”
“You and Daire need to get to know each other better. You must get along with him, whether you like it or not. He is your mate and you are stuck with him for the rest of your life. I am not saying that you have to like him, but you must at least put up with him, all right? If you're not careful, I'll make your sentence longer.” Aleksei scowled, but didn't protest. “Very well, then. You are hereby ordered to spend three days in confinement with your mate, Daire. I will have a guard escort you back to your quarters to gather a few of your things.”

----------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------
“Confinement?” Daire asked, his young face troubled by the sudden news. “What for?”
“John believes that you and your mate need to spend some time together to get to know one another. I've been asked to escort you to the confinement area,” a guard replied.
“How long am I being confined with Aleksei?” Daire asked, becoming more and more troubled.
“Three days. Now, please, get your stuff so we may leave.”
“Yes sir.”
Daire turned away so the guard couldn't see how afraid he was. Numbly, he went to the chest at the foot of his bed where he kept his possessions, and threw a couple things into his bag. Then, he straightened up and tried to regain his composure.
I have to be strong. He thought. I have to show Aleksei that I'm not weak. I can do this. I can survive three days in confinement with only Aleksei. I have to.
Taking in several deep breaths and turned around, keeping his face calm.
“I'm ready to go,” he said in an even tone.
“Follow me, then,” the guard ordered.
They left the dormitories and went down the long maze of halls, passing by several guards before finally stopping in front of an unmarked door. The guard took a key from his pocket and unlocked the door. “In you go,” he ordered, ushering Daire forward. Daire stepped over the threshold and was met by a wave of cold air. He blinked. It was pitch black; there were no windows in the small square room.
“Your mate is here,” the guard announced. Daire saw in the light from the door the outline of whom he guessed was Aleksei lying on the only bed.
“Behave yourselves,” the guard said with a horrible grin and then closed the door. Daire heard the lock click and departing footsteps. Cautiously, he crossed the room and sank down against the wall opposite to where Aleksei lay. He couldn't help sighing softly. He had gotten himself into a fine mess this time and he didn't even know how.
To be continued…
Note From the Author: I'm so grateful for all the reviews I've received so far!! The Bearers and Breeders do not spend their whole entire lives at The Institute. They're usually born there, especially in the Bearer's case because it's genetic but they're taken to live with a foster family for the beginning of their lives. They come to The Institute when they reach puberty, though in the case of the Bearers, it's a year before their heat. They stay there for life after that. After the kids are born, if they're female, they're instantly sent to live with a foster family in the world and they live normal lives. Males are considered more carefully. Bearers are very easy to pick out. Breeders are a lot harder to determine. They're usually more dominant and aggressive than typical males. However, they are a lot more common than Bearers. The Institute is a place that was created when the Bearers began dying off. It's a very medically advanced facility and it's also where the Bearers and Breeders who are at the age when they're able to reproduce live. There are several teams of highly trained doctors there who care for both the Breeders and the Bearers and the children they have.
There are females in this world and they do have children. They live normally because there is no threat of extinction from them. The Bearers are a dying breed and the Institute was created in order to help them repopulate. The human race feels a certain obligation to…shall we say…protect the Bearers since it's thanks to them that they exist now. The stuff about the twins repopulating the world will be explained as the story progresses. As I said before, the females don't need the protection because they're not in danger of dying out, like the Bearers. I hope this helps.
Don't worry-I love getting advice! I want to know how I can make this better. You guys, as the readers, can help me by letting me know what you think of it and giving me advice about what I should change. I'm going to try and develop the other characters as well. It might just take me a while to achieve this. But the other characters will definitely have a larger role later.
One last note from me: I am so terribly sorry for the delay of this chapter. I had it mostly finished last week, but I didn't get around to finishing it until now. School has been absolutely horrible to me and I haven't been feeling well on top of that. And the dryers are driving me nuts right now. I hate dorm life…
