Disclaimer. All Last pure human stuff belongs to TwistedHilarity, I’m not trying to steal anything. Gabriel however is mine.
Gabriel was annoyed, a feeling that was growing by the minute. He had been in this damn cage for what he thought was like…three damn days, and he had not seen anyone during that entire time.
Oh sure three times a day a little slot on the wall opened up and a tray of really shitty food came through, but he never saw who or what was doing it.
His punch was not pleased.
Plus he was bored, real bored. Staring at three bland walls or the bars of his cell got old real fast.
He was still trying to figure out why he was in here. It didn’t seem logical, he gets the shit beat out of him…and he gets locked up? What kind of fascist crap was that?
None of them were making his Christmas list that was for sure, no giant cat nip for any of them.
The fact that he had not seen Zonta, nor Max was also starting to worry him. Big red had seemed pleasant enough…but this was not winning him any points.
Gabriel was starting to slightly question on whether or not Max was even here, both in the same area or even on the planet.
He fingered his locket.
“I guess we wait….”
Not much else he could do, he hadn’t found a way to pick the lock on his cell yet and there wasn’t a window. He didn’t even have a spoon….
He had tried calling out too….no one had showed up, so that was out.
Good thing he wasn’t sure, well seriously hurt, or sick it seemed. He couldn’t help but wonder if he had been filed away to be forgotten, for all he knew the crappy food slot was automated. It wasn’t like it was a new idea….oubliettes and all that.
“Friggin French…” Gabriel muttered.
If this kept up he was going to beat someone.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Zonta was going to end up beating someone at this rate. This whole situation was unbelievable. His father, his brothers, all siding against him.
Even the examination of his room had seemed to do nothing to further his cause. Despite the fact that his room had been in shambles and not one drop of the blood they had discovered had come from the deceased guard.
It certainly did not help his mood that he had been forbidden access to Gabriel, apparently a few of the elders felt he was -to close- to the matter. Zonta had to wonder how much they knew, because if they know the whole situation then their actions simply sickened him.
They were going to follow procedure they said. Which meant that Gabriel could end up spending three weeks in isolation, being monitored remotely.
The whole idea was to try and make it so the captive was more willing to talk. But what good would that do? Gabriel didn’t speak Hinta!
Zonta knew his Father had been against that, but he also knew that if Kyoru had really pushed, then it wouldn’t have been enacted.
Zonta felt useless and guilty….he had brought Gabriel here and nothing good had come from it. To that end he had all but abandoned his family members, ignoring them completely in favor of the dozens and dozens of law books he had been pouring himself over for the past few days. He was trying to find something, anything, to help Gabriel.
But as of yet none of his efforts had bore fruit. All he could do is demand have representation for a trail, but that would mean he would have to push for a trial…and that was the last thing he wanted.
It was pointless and considering how things had been going it would probably damn the human further.
Leaning back Zonta tossed the book he had been reading into the pile with the others, he normally took great pains to treat his reading material with care, but he just didn’t care right now.
“Useless…completely.” Zonta muttered as he rubbed at his eyes.
There was a knock at the door, but Zonta ignored it, there wasn’t anyone he wanted to talk to save Kasan and Max.
Zonta picked up another book, his eighth one this morning and opened it up. To be truthful he was losing hop that he was going to find anything worthwhile in any of them.
He had gotten halfway through the book, which was proving itself as useless as the rest when he realized that someone was sitting on the edge of his bed. He hadn’t even heard the door open, and he could have sworn the had locked it.
Zonta lowered his book slowly, it had better not be Aosh, his twin was about the last person he wanted to see, if ANYONE should have supported him it should have been Aosh.
But to his surprise it was Jolan’s consort…Ko. That was unexpected, he wasn’t all that close to his elder brothers consort. Perhaps that was why Ko was there.
“Yes?” Zonta grumbled. “What do you need? As you can see I am very busy.”
Ko looked at him for a moment, the other man chewed his bottom lip as if unsure what to say.
“You haven’t made class in the last few days.” Ko said.
Ah yes…the little ones, he had volunteered a year or so ago to instruct. He found it rewarding, and it allowed him to go over his old material, so it aided his own studies.
“I have my hands full, its happened before.” Zonta grunted. It was not unusual for him to get lost in a subject for days on end. Granted this time that was not the case, he had purposefully been ignoring everything. It was nothing against the children, not even insufferable Nolluz’s brood, but Zonta wasn’t in a helpful mood.
Just having Ko bring it up mad Zonta feel a little underappreciated, a feeling he had been nursing since this had started.
“They have been asking about you.” Ko said softly. Flipping a page Zonta focused back on his book.
“Them tell them the truth. Tell them I am trying to help someone who is facing injustice.” Ko made a noise in his throat and snatched Zonta’s book away.
“Tell them yourself, you are responsible for them.”
Zonta had the distinct feeling that Ko was trying to make him feel guilty, something he did not appreciate one bit.
“Correction.” Zonta growled as he took the book back. “I am a volunteer. I do not receive a wage, in fact I am not on any teaching staff in any university. Therefore I am only responsible when I am there and I may depart at a moments notice.”
Ko sighed and crossed his arms. For a few moments the two just stared at each other.
“Your brothers are worried about you Zonta.” Ko suddenly said.
Ahhh….the truth comes out.
“Put you up to this did they?” Zonta asked. “Well its not going to work. SO you can just march your rear out of my sight and back tot hem, and tell them my work will not be stopped.”
“He’s going to be fine Zonta….there is no reason of this. Why don’t you help your brothers in the investigation instead of going against them?”
“He is being treated like a criminal.” Zonta snapped. “First isolation, then observation. But tell me, how do you all hope to learn anything when he can’t even talk to you.”
Ko lowered his eyes.
“Its not my call Zonta.”
“Perhaps….but I haven’t seen you try to sway Jolan.” Zonta pointed out. Ko raised angry eyes.
“He is my mate and you would have me go against him?”
“You have before.”
“This is different! A man is dead. Who is to say this Gabriel won’t decide more of us need to die?” Ko asked.
“You are being paranoid.” Zonta shot back. “I didn’t see any of this for Max, everyone welcomed him.”
“Max didn’t kill anyone. By your own admission this new human has killed at least three. Three Zonta! You keep claiming him to be an innocent but what if he is some sort of homicidal maniac?”
Zonta rolled his eyes. He had heard all of this before, more then once.
“You all act like I don’t care men are dead. I do Ko. I do. However one tried to kill him and the other to try to kill me.”
“Zon-”
“I would be dead Ko. A corpse on the floor…and you know what? I’m just a little hurt that no one seems to care about that.”
“Your brothers…” Ko started.
“Yes, yes. I know all about how my brothers feel. Honestly Ko…what…did they get tired of me sending them away so they sent you instead?”
Ko sighed.
“I’m worried about you as well Zonta. Its not like we are your enemies, we are you family, yet your shutting yourself off from us.”
“Where is all this worry coming from? Am I going to explode because I’m focused on something? My head going to fall off?” Zonta asked sarcastically. Marking his page in the book, he had just come across a section about unlawful imprisonment that could prove useful, and leveled his gaze upon Ko. “Let me ask you a question….how do you know Max will not kill Kasan?”
“What?” Ko breathed.
“How do you know Max will not kill, or try to kill Kasan. After all he is a human, a species we know little to nothing about these days. Now Max has already shown great fear towards us, and if its one thing a frightened creature will do, its lash out. So…how do you know he is not just waiting for a chance to kill Kasan? Perhaps in his sleep.” Zonta pressed on. If everyone wanted to play the -what if?- game…he could as well.
“Now who is being paranoid?”
“Incorrect. I am simply presenting an argument. Your own argument I might add. After all, for all we know Max has attempted nothing only because he has not had the means, nor the opening. At this point he has either been left alone, been surrounded or taken to the point of exhaustion by Kasan.” Zonta stated.
“Zonta….”
“I will tell you what the difference between Gabriel and Max is. Max has status, ground to stand on as Kasan’s consort. Gabriel has nothing.” Zonta snapped. “Now…I have much I would like to get done, so if you are just going to be a mouthpiece for my brothers then you can go.”
Ko looked a tad offended but Zonta was turning back to his book. Ko lingered for a moment but soon left.
Zonta didn’t personally have a thing against Ko, they got along well when they did interact, but he knew why his brother’s consort had appeared. What he didn’t know, nor understand, was why his family stood against him in this. He was trying to help a poor abused little creature, a person, same as them. The man was a victim, just like Max, and had suffered abuse due to the schemes of Shovak, a member of their family no less.
Clearly they had a responsibility, so why was he the only one to see that? It was very upsetting to him. He understood that they wanted facts, and he did admit that Gabriel had frightened him badly with the sheer brutality of Tauma’s death. But at the same time he owed the human his life, and Zonta could not fault Gabriel for attacking Celi.
The poor thing had been savaged, and there was clear evidence that Celi had entered Zonta’s room on his own. So why the heavy handed tactics? Why was someone who was so obviously a victim of things well beyond his control being treated like a wanted criminal?
The poor thing had to be so scared….locked in a cage like an animal, no comfort in sight…or even being offered.
Zonta had suggested that if Gabriel had to be incarcerated then his own room would be a much better choice. After all…who better to work with the man to help him understand his current situation then Zonta himself? He felt he had the human’s trust, at least he had…it saddened him to think that might not be the case any longer.
He was intelligent, passionate, and most importantly he was very patient when instructing. He had helped Max become more proficient in Hinta, although Kasan’s little consort deserved a great deal of credit. So why had he been denied? Surely Gabriel would be more open and trusting in a nice, comfortable room then a cell.
But someone disagreed with him and that someone was pissing him off.
Wiping his eyes Zonta focused back on his book, he was not giving up. God knew how much more Gabriel could take.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Gabriel wasn’t sure how much more he could take….he was bored out of his mind.
And where was Zonta? He had started to trust the man a little, stupid probably, and although it was all kinda hazy he was sure he had seen him before he had awaken in this cage.
He had a bad feeling about all of this. Why hadn’t he seen anyone? Not even a guard, nobody, nada.
That didn’t make any sense.
He had just sat here all day, he didn’t know what day it was, or what time it was, he couldn’t even see the sky.
Gabriel was starting to get anxious, nervous tension was spreading through his body, what was he going to do?
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Ko grumbled to himself as he entered the meeting room, he had half a mind to lay one upside his mates head.
Everyone was there, Jolan, Nolluz and Neera, Tisu and Roto, Aosh and finally Kyoru. Everyone looked at him, Aosh looked hopeful but Ko shook his head as he sat next to Jolan.
“I take it you didn’t have much luck either.” Jolan said.
“No.” Ko huffed. “And I don’t like being put into that kind of position either. I am worried about Zonta.”
“We apologize Ko, but he won’t listen to us.” Nolluz said.
“Zonta’s a crusader. Once he’s sunk his teeth into something he doesn’t let go.” Jolan sighed. Aosh growled.
“I don’t like this! He’s doing it for nothing. Nothing is going to happen to the human.” Aosh near-shouted.
“Well Zonta is against him being locked up like he is.” Ko said. “He does make some good points-”
“I don’t want that little runt running about.” Tisu interrupted gruffly.
“I agree.” Nolluz said.
“I don’t get why we are following interrogation procedure though.” Jolan butted in.
Kyoru sighed.
“It was insisted, I do not agree…but elders do have a say in what they feel are family affairs.”
“I know I don’t really…have a say here but….I don’t see why Zonta can’t see him. Zonta is the only person he knows.” Roto said.
‘Because we aren’t sure he won’t try to hurt Zonta.” Tisu said gently. “He’s to…trusting.”
“Any luck with Kasan?” Kyoru asked. Jolan shook his head.
‘No…but the two have been sighted several times, it is possible Kasan is ignoring our attempts to contact him…or so Nolluz thinks.” Jolan said.
“I wouldn’t put it past him.” The latter said.
“Kasan knows better.” Ko said.
“Well what do we know?” Kyoru butted in.
“Well…” Jolan began.” None of the blood in Zonta’s room belonged to Celi. We also found a witness that claims they saw Celi outside of Zonta’s room. The marks on the human’s body indicate that he suffered a sever assault, at least the one’s we could see, we did not remove his clothing for decency’s sake. Also…other then the wound under his chin there was not a mark one Celi.”
The crown prince leaned back, stretching himself.
“Like it or not, all the evidence points to Celi entering Zonta’s room illegally and assaulting the human Gabriel.”
Kyoru nodded.
“Good work then.”
“We can’t just let him out.” Nolluz protested. “Not without knowing for sure.
“Knowing what for sure Nolluz? What must we know?” Ko asked.
“That he is not a bloody killer.” Nolluz answered.
“Please do not start arguing.” Kyoru sighed. “I think the little thing deserves compassion. Which is why his isolation time will be cut short, and I am going to assign your uncle to monitor him for a week. If he can not learn anything to help us in this….then I’m going to give Zonta what he wants.”
“Provided of course Kasan is not found and, or returns first.” Jolan added. “It works for me…and it might calm Zonta down.”
“I disagree.” Nolluz said. “Call it a gut feeling or whatever you want but I think that human is dangerous.”
“I’m with Nolluz.” Tisu growled.
“Be nice.” Roto whispered, patting Tisu on the knee.
All eyes turned to Aosh, who squirmed.
“I’ll…I’ll go with Father and Jolan. I mean…we can’t just leave him locked up forever, its not fair. Plus…I’m worried about Zonta…he’s mad at all of us, mad at ME. I…I just can’t take that.”
“Wuss…” Tisu growled, earning a smack to the chest from Roto.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
It had been a week, at least that was what Gabriel thought. Now he was really getting worried…and upset.
Had he been suckered?
At the moment he couldn’t tell, but things were not looking good. He’d already tested every method of escape he could think of, none of them had worked obviously.
He couldn’t fit through the bars, he sure couldn’t knock them down or bend them. The walls were solid…and painful to hit.
He had tried screaming at the top of his lungs in the hopes of getting someone’s attention, but no one had showed up.
Sitting down on the barely covered block that served as his bed Gabriel was struck with the sickening realization that there was a damn good chance he would never get out of here.
It most certainly was not a place he wanted to spend the rest of his life, the conditions were abominable.
No window, thus no fresh air or sunlight, the rock he slept on had put his body into knots. No pillow and the blanket didn’t do much to warm him, and he had already discovered that it became rather cold in here at night.
But perhaps the biggest indignity was the hole in the floor in the far corner. It served as his bathroom…or at least he assumed it did as there was nothing else. Figuring out how to crap in it had been a chore and a half.
Not that he hadn’t been in real shitty situations before but….he was supposed to have been getting away from all that. Away from the muck and the blood…he wasn’t asking for five star…he was just asking to be treated like a human being for once, instead of a lab rat, or something to be hunted.
Gabriel felt a little choked up, a wave of melancholy washing over him.
“I’m so tired of living like this…” He whispered. Gently he touched his locket, his only comfort, had been for a while now, the warm memory of his beloved Michael. “Stuck in a cage till I rot…won’t that smell nice. No shower either…give it time to cultivate I guess.”
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Aosh sat at the table, his head resting upon it. There wasn’t anyone else there so he didn’t need to mind his manners or any of that crap. His heart was heavy….Zonta wouldn’t even speak to him, hell Aosh had not even laid eyes upon him since that night.
It hurt, he had never been separated from his twin for so long in his life. He couldn’t sneak in either. Zonta had somehow modified his lock, it not only rejected Aosh, but it also shocked the crap out of him.
He didn’t want Zonta to be angry with him, and he never would have voted the way he did if he had known this would happen.
Aosh’s ears twitched as they caught the sounds of footsteps approaching behind him and a familiar clearing of a throat when the footsteps stopped.
“What do you want Nolluz?” Aosh asked without even raising his head.
“A favor.” Was his elder brother’s reply.
“Oh really?” Aosh muttered as he turned his head just enough to see Nolluz. To his mild surprise Nolluz actually looked a bit embarrassed.
“Oh…uh yes. You see Father asked me to escort uncle to the murderous little human’s cell. I agreed but I forgot that I was supposed to meet Neera, I promised the children that we would take them somewhere special if they did well with their studies. They did and I’m already running late….Neera will kill me if I cancel. So….I was wondering if you would be willing to escort him for him?”
Aosh blinked slowly.
“Why me?”
“Jolan is busy and Tisu is hiding from Roto after he was caught yelling at Zonta through his door.”
“Yeah….I’m just the only choice.” Aosh thought bitterly. He rose and sighed. “I guess.”
Nolluz hugged him then.
“Thank you very much Aosh, you’re a life savor seriously. He’s waiting in the hall, do you know where to go?”
The hug actually made Aosh feel a little better, not from the brother he wanted, but beggars couldn’t be choosers.
“Yeah…I know where it is.” Aosh said. Not that he wanted to know, especially when Zonta didn’t know. He had been dreading the moment his twin asked him, he wasn’t sure he would be able to refuse Zonta, regardless of what he had been told. But considering the fact that he had not even received a hello from Zonta it was becoming less of an issue.
As Nolluz left Aosh slowly made his way to the hall, he was going to take a nap after all of this, it was way to crappy a day.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Gabriel had been cozening, he would have liked to of been sleeping but there was only so much sleep his body would allow him. But he was dragged to awareness by what sounded like hushed voices.
That or he could be hearing things.
Opening his eyes Gabriel was greeted with the site of tow men outside his cell.
One was smaller, dark haired with a white loin cloth instead of the blue he had seen Zonta wear.
But it was the second kitty man that gave him a sense of relief.
Big, tall, cute with red hair.
“Zonta.” Gabriel said as he stood, walking over to grip the bars. To his surprise however Zonta took a step away and shook his head.
**“Aosh”** He said.
The hell was an Aosh?
“So…uh…can I get out of here now?” Gabriel asked.
They ignored him, talking amongst themselves.
**“Well….I think I’ll have to take it from here.”** The one in white said. **“Thank you for the escort nephew.”**
**“Sure….”** Zonta said.
And then he turned and started to leave.
“Hey! Zonta! Hey!” Gabriel shouted. Zonta stopped and turned around.
*“I’m not Zonta you little pain in the ass. My name is Aosh.”**
And then Zonta left his sight.
What. The. Fuck?
Gabriel shouted after the red haired kitty man, but he didn’t come back.
Pulling away form the bars Gabriel glared at the cat man in white, who was making calm down motions with his hands.
**“Easy…easy.”** He was saying. **“No one is going to hurt you. You certainly do look a lot like Kasan’s little one…”**
“I don’t understand a fucking word your saying.” Gabriel growled. He didn’t like this one bit, not one bit.
Why would Zonta just leave? And what was an Aosh?
Gabriel turned away form the kitty man as he started to talk, his stomach flip-flopping with worry.
He had a really…really BAD feeling about this.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
̶ 0;Five days. What is with these guys and five days?” Gabriel thought as he continued to pace in his cell, glaring at the White, even though his clothes had changed color Gabriel had taken to referring to his daily observer as the -White-
Not that he really knew how much time had past, but he had had fifteen meals, and the lights had suddenly gone out five times, so he was assuming.
He wasn’t sure what was going on, the guy showed up, stayed for hours, talked to him, pushed things on this little box he had and talked into a little silver ball.
**“Subject continues to pace, he seems incredibly agitated today, though in these circumstances one can not blame him. All communication attempts have failed, and other then mentioning the young prince on the first day has said little to nothing. I am refraining from speaking Kyoru’s youngest child’s name because it seems to upset the human. I have learned nothing, and I dare say I will not. Although I still have two days remaining I think I will return them in favor of Kyoru’s youngest child’s plan. Perhaps he will have better luck.”** White said. **“The only thing I can say is that the human has not become aggressive or threatening at any time during these last few days. He seems to be observing me as much as I am him.”
Gabriel watched as White put all his little things in the bag he carried. He has resisted all urges to scream at the kitty man, it wouldn’t do him any good, even though White had that….clinical voice Gabriel so hated.
**“Well little one…”** White said. **“I’m sorry you have had to endure all of this, so lets see if we can get you a familiar face in here eh?”
“Yeah…you’d figure he would have got that I don’t’ understand him by now.” Gabriel thought as White’s footsteps disappeared down the hall.
Soon silence took over again, jus the sounds of him could be heard. This all seemed so familiar now that he thought about it.
So much….like……
Gabriel halted, his entire body and brain grinding to a complete and total stop.
It reminded him of the Hospital.
Gabriel wiped around, staring back at the bards of his cell.
“Now your getting it.” A nagging voice in the back of his head sneered. “Your not just under observation….your under study Gabey boy. You’re a rat in a cage.”
No…that wasn’t….
Gabriel started to think.
A man shows up every day, trying to get a reaction out of him, verbally recording his findings and obviously had some kind of computer…or palm pilot or something.
Gabriel’s breathing sped up.
“I wonder what experiments these guys have lined up. A whole new breed of people, got to have new ideas don’t you think?” The voice taunted.
Gabriel shook his head in denial.
“No…Zonta said…he said Max….”
“Did he say it? Or did YOU say it and HE picked up on it?”
Gabriel paused, thinking back……FUCK! He had said it first!!
“Right. And where is big Red right now? Oh right…he left you here. And what about that shit in his room, he said it was safe right? Now….you think about it….was all that some kind of accident? Or a test? Come on twit…you know the how experiments go. Establish a set environment, allow the subject to become familiar…then introduce the variable. In your case, big fucking ass beating kitty man.”
But….damn….no….that….FUCK….
That did made sense, see what he could do, how much he could take perhaps.
Gabriel began to hyperventilate badly, backing himself into a corner.
“No…not again….NOT AGAIN!!”
“Who says Max is even here, on this planet, or even alive. Face it Gabel…your probably he first human these guys have ever seen…why else would Red rush you back here like that?”
But Zonta seemed so…kind…so sincere. Gabriel snarled.
“And I trusted him…..”
An act…and a damn good one. He’d even saved Zonta’s life, and for a all he knew that could have been staged. Maybe that was why Zonta had looked so afraid after Gabriel had FUBARed the big on with the knife. Maybe he had thought Gabriel had figured it all out.
Come to think of it…Zonta had kept him all covered up, he hadn’t seen anything. A good way to make it hard to escape.
Gabriel had a moment to almost admire how intricately Zonta had spiked him, before his vision went red, the words -GET OUT! GET OUT!- flashing in front of his eyes.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Rui stretched his neck as he leaned against the wall outside the cell tower. His first solo job, he was a bit excited. Though he didn’t understand why he was guarding another human, or why he was locked up.
Kasan’s consort was so small and cute…and that was saying something coming from him.
And he REALLY didn’t get why he was supposed to deny Zonta all access if the youngest prince came around.
Regardless he was determined to do the best job he could, he’d show everyone what he could do. Not that he had much to do, just guard the door, take care of the little one in an emergency arose and check on him every hour or so.
The last one had been a new mandate, but one Rui was happy to perform. Between boredom and loneliness who knew what the poor thing was feeling.
All had been nice and quiet right up until a frightening scream made its way through the thick, heavy door. Rui turned and leveled a confused stare on the door.
What was that?
It didn’t sound good that was for sure. But there was no other way in other then the door and the doctor had already left a few minutes ago so…
“The little human.” Rui whispered as he unlocked the door and heaved it open. Worry washed over him as the door clicked shut and locked.
The sounds of something smashing against metal rippled up the hall. What was going on?
Rui rushed down the hall. Blam! Blam! Blam! The noises never ceased as he neared.
Stopping in front of the smaller human’s cell Rui was a bit taken aback by what he saw.
The human was throwing himself against he bars with enough force to seriously rattle them. Rui could see bruises starting to blossom on his elbow and shoulder, the little man was going to hurt himself at this rate.
“Human man, stop!” Rui protested, it would have been nice if they had told him the man’s name.
The human did stop, backing up and Rui found himself looking into a pair of the prettiest blue eyes he had ever seen.
Also some of the scariest eyes he had ever seen, he didn’t like that look one bit.
The hair was curious too, not like Kasan’s consort, it was three different colors. Black, purple bangs with red tips, and there was a pretty looking flower under the human’s right eye.
“Wow….your gorgeous.” Rui muttered, just barely able to hold back a blush. Were all human’s so….beautiful?
The human apparently was not thinking any pleasant thoughts as he gnashed his teeth and rushed the bars, jumping up on them and shoving his arm through, reaching for Rui.
The guard was out of reach but he winced at the impact of the human’s head and face smacking into the bars. Ceasing that the human jumped back down and began kicking the bars, with his bare feet, with great force, all the while shouting in his own native tongue.
Finally the human jumped up and dropkicked the bars with both feet, Rui was afraid he would land on his head, but the man rotated enough so that he came down on his chest instead, only to spring back up on his feet.
Rui wasn’t sure what to do, if the human kept this up he would hurt himself for sure. He could call for assistance, but they would probably shot the little cutie with a sedative, which was standard procedure for unruly captives.
He didn’t want that…he supposed he could go into the cell. He could easily restrain the man, comfort him a little. It was much more humane plus he couldn’t help put feel sorry for the human, locked up in a strange place, on a strange planet.
Hell…Rui didn’t even know why the human was in there in the first place, so maybe the human didn’t either?
“Okay little one…” Rui said gently as he unlocked the cell door and stepped inside. “You need to calm down., your going to hurt yourself. Don’t worry, I’m a friend.”
Rui caught the human as he rushed him, lifting him up as easily as he would a child. The man tensed as Rui took a step towards the sorry excuse for a bed.
The human’s hand touched his lips, Rui opened his mouth to say something and two of the man’s fingers, middle and ring, darted in. They slipped under his tongue and pain exploded in Rui’s mouth and throat. The human was pressing down hard and his vision went white as he dropped to his knee’s.
The man’s hand locked up, using his palm and remaining three fingers, and he yanked Rui forward by his jaw, plowing his face into the stone wall.
Ruin felt his belt being pulled off as the human released him, and when he turned around face the human, the man caught him right across the eyes with his guard stick. Rui fell backwards, clutching his face as he heard the cell door open and slam shut.
Damn that hurt!!
The distinctive chink of the lock echoed as he picked himself up off the floor. Staring at the rather pissed off looking human Rui had to marvel slightly at how quickly that had happened…he certainly had not expected that.
The human growled something and twirled Rui’s guard stick, he also had Rui’s keys and communicator….crud.
The human looked around quickly, taking in the hall. Rui wasn’t to worried about him getting out, the main door had no key, it was print locked and at the moment only he and the members of the royal family could open it.
His jaw and mouth throbbing Rui spat out blood and held his hands up. In his best calm, soothing voice he spoke.
“Okay little guy…that was impressive. But just relax, I know your confused and obviously a little upset. But no one is going to hurt you so why don’t you just let me out okay?”
The man rolled his eyes and took off down the hall.
Rui could hear him reach t door and all was quiet for a few minutes before a frustrated shout made its way to him followed by the loud sound of his guard stick smashing against the door.
Soft footsteps began to make their way towards him. The human stalked back into view, crossing his arms and glaring at Rui.
“I’m sorry.” Rui said. “But you won’t be opening the door. Please let me out.”
The human didn’t answer, he just stood there with a completive look on his face, his head slowly tilting to the side and for some reason Rui got a cold feeling in his belly.
Suddenly a metal clicking drew both of their attention and Rui watched as the metal plate slid up on the wall, revealing a barred window.
“Now the open it” Rui thought. The stupid thing was supposed to be opened days ago, giving the little human access to at least some fresh air and sunlight.
The human made his way over to it, and with a jump was able to use the bars to pull himself up to look on the window. Regardless of the language Rui knew a curse when he heard it. There was nothing outside of the window other then a four hundred foot sheer drop.
As the human stuck his arm out for some reason Rui realized something with a start. The man could easily slip through the bars. No Kyashin could, and that was who they were designed for. But the human wasn’t half as thick as the average Kyashin.
Rui could only look on in horror as the man did just that, turning around and slipping through the bars feet first.
“No!!!” Rui cried out, pounding hard on the bars. The human ignored him and disappeared from sight.
Surely the man couldn’t climb down the wall, there were grooves in the stone yes but….four hundred feet? Besides the grooves were only…hell not even fingertip deep. The best he’d ever seen was some kid go seven feet up before falling.
Shouting Rui began to rattle the bars of the cell as hard as he could, hoping to attract someone’s attention. They would have to move damn quickly if they wanted to save the man.
Guilt washed over him, stupid…stupid how could he have been so stupid? If something happened it would be ALL his fault!
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Zonta rushed down the stairs, more relieved and excited he had been in a while.
Kasan had returned.
Normally Zonta might have been worried about falling and hurting himself, but he didn’t care at the moment and took the steps two and three at a time. He didn’t see Max but he wasn’t worried, Kasan was walking far to calmly for something to have happened.
Breathlessly Zonta stopped in front of his elder throwback brother and opened his mouth to began to speak.
He was just about to embrace his brother and talk at the same time when Kasan held up a hand and said.
“No.”
To be continued.
