In the morning, Maverick woke first and started getting everyone up. "Anyone know where Sven is?"

"No. I haven't seen him since I've got up," Boris said, destroying their camp and carrying their things to their car.

"Will you go check around the area for him...or a body?" he asked then looked at Evana.

"What?! I didn't kill him! Yet..."

Sarah groaned. "Where's his body Evana?"

"I didn't kill him!"

"Sure you didn't. He didn't deserve it, Evana." Grabbing her gun, she cocked it and started off in the direction that Sven's footsteps led.

Evana groaned.
"I really wish I had done it now."

"Zenith, see if you can't see him from the sky." The bird chirped and flew upward to spot him. After circling around for a bit she came back down and shook her head.

"Hey guys. I've got a lot of tracks over here and a drag tail leading to tire tracks!" Sarah yelled.

"See! Told you it wasn't me!" "Fuck...would have been easier if it were."

"The tracks go off to the east, away from the piece of the A.R.K."

"If we go after him, there is no way we will make it home at the estimated time. But we can't leave him behind. Get in the car. We are going after him."

"It would be easier if we had some idea where they were going or what they wanted. If they wanted his weapons or cash it would have been much easier to simply kill him. There's no blood. So he's still alive."

"We can't leave him."

"I know. Trust me. I know." Zenith cawed, and Maven looked up as something fell down. He caught it and ran his hands over the fabric. "Zenith found this," he said, holding up a patch. Sarah's eyes widened when she saw it.

"Oh fuck."

"What is it?"

"That's the patch of Serena. Sven's wife."

"Well then leave him," Evana shrugged.

"No! We can't! Sven's an asshole, but his wife is a psycho bitch!"

Evana smiled. "I vote we leave him."

"I don't," Sarah said as she glared at her.

Evana rolled her eyes.
"We are going. In the car everyone."

"I'll drive. I think I know where they might be staying."

They all got in the car and settled in for the ride.

"Wake up, Sven sweetie."

Sven groaned and shook his head. He felt like he had too much to drink...or too little. Whichever was worse.
"Why do I feel a breeze?"

"Because I missed your body, love."

Sven's eyes shot open as he looked around. He was tied and bound to a chair, butt naked, and unable to do anything but stare at the woman in front of him.
"Serena.... I see you're still as crazy as ever."

"Sven. I see you've gotten bigger."

"Yes well, I'll let you play with it if I can get out of these restraints."

"No can do. I see you got rid of my mark Sveny. I'm hurt."

Sven knew what she was talking about. The tattoo on his shoulder signaling him as one of her crew. A little laser surgery and it was all gone.
"Yeah. It wasn't my style."

"Aww. That's okay. I've got more permanent ways of keeping you mine." She clapped her hands and flames rose up around her. Taking a metal pole, she held it over the fire. His eyes widened as he saw her mark heating up in the flames.

Evana looked out the window with a yawn.
"I don't see what the big deal is. Just let the woman have him. He needs someone to kick his ass other than me."

"When I say 'psycho' I'm talking about the kind of person who drinks the blood of virgins and orphans because she can."

"Why would Sven marry someone like that?" Boris asked.

"She wasn't always like that. He loved her. She loved him, but it turned out that she was an even bigger player than he was. The girl he fell in love with was nothing more than an act."

"That's a little funny."

"Yeah. I thought it was real hilarious until she got him addicted to drugs. Marked him with a tattoo and basically treated him as a pet and body guard. I killed thirty of her guys getting to him the first time. I wanted to kill her, but he stopped me. Even though he knows she evil in flesh, he couldn't bring himself to kill her cause of that one part that loved her."

"Seems we all have a past with love."

"Shut it, Maverick. Are we there yet?"

"We should be getting close," Sarah said, pointing to the staked and crucified bodies lining the way.

"How tacky."

"Trust me. You haven't seen tacky," Sarah sighed.

Evana just kept looking out the window.

Sven wouldn't give her the satisfaction of screaming. His pride was worth more than the searing pain on his chest.
"Fuck you," he said sourly. "The least you could have done was kissed me first."

She smiled, her lips going to the hot iron and kissing it before pushing it against his chest once more.

Sven's eyes nearly rolled back into his head as he blacked out.
"I know...we had...some trouble...but what is this really about?" His eyes narrowed as he looked at her.

She just smirked and set the iron down between his legs. He could feel the heat on his thighs and he prayed she didn't move it any closer. "Shepherd got to me. Says that if I get something from you guys that he'll quit leaning on my little operation."

Sven chuckled as he heard that.
"God you're stupid, Serena. I couldn't get you it even if I did want to."

"No. You can't, but your friends can."

At this he broke out into laughter.
"Those guys? My friends? Please. They're smarter than that. They're long gone."

"Oh really? Do you really think everyone is like you? That they would leave you to fulfill their own goals?"

His eyes glared at her.
"Yes. I do."

"We're getting close," Sarah said as she looked up, seeing the enormous fortress on the horizon. Men began to form a human wall to keep them away. "Uh...Maven. Anyway you could do what you did in those videos."

"Already am," he said softly, almost coldly. Almost instantly bodies began flying apart, the guards back away as they were pushed and thrown with simple thoughts.

Maverick woke Hailey and she sat up to look around. Seeing everything, she knew they were off track and asked questions. Maverick just made her promise to not leave him while they were there and she promised.

"We don't know what we'll be going into. Perhaps she should just stay in the car where it is safe."

"Yes, and while we are looking for Sven, they could break into the car and take her."

"What I mean is that it would be wise for at least two people to stay with the car in case we need to get out of there. If anything happens to this we'll be walking back."

"Who is willing to stay?"

"I will. I could care less if he dies," Evana shrugged.

"I will stay as well to make sure that Hailey is safe."

"Fine," Maverick said. Hailey crawled in the back seat and sat in Evana's lap. She yawned and pulled out her book.

Boris still couldn't believe that she was avoiding him. He thought that she would have forgiven him, evidently he was wrong.
"We'll be here when you get back," he promised.

"Yeah. Just don't die on us," Sarah pleaded. "Maven are you coming?"

He watched as a body suddenly exploded, blood spattering his window. "Yes."

"Okay. That's kind of creepy."

"Let's go," Maverick said as he got out of the car.

Sarah cocked her gun and nodded. Pushing open her door, she fired into the crowd. Maven just waved his arm, all the men around him flying back.

Sven's ears perked at the sound of gun fire. Serena smiled. "I told you love. Not everyone is as selfish as you are."

Maverick didn't have to do much. With Sarah shooting and Maven having a blood bath, all he really had to do was...walk.

Kicking in the door, Sarah stopped as a gun was pointed at her face. "Boom," Serena smirked. She looked over at the other two and nodded. "Come in. Come in. I thought there would be more of you."

"Fuck off. Where's Sven?" Sarah asked coldly.

"Oh, he's around somewhere trying to warm up."

"Obviously not."

She smirked and pointed the gun at him. "And who are you handsome?"

Before she could blink the gun was out of her hand and in pieces on the floor.

Her jaw dropped. "Whoa. I love a man who's good with his hands."

"Sorry, I'm taken. Where is Sven?"

"I'll give you Sven if you give me the A.R.K."

Sarah laughed at that.
"Please. Sven's my friend and even I'll admit he's not worth that."

"Sorry. You can keep him then," Maverick said. He turned around. "Let's go."

She shrugged. "Bye. Bye then."

"Maverick, we came all this way. I'm not leaving him," Sarah said, pointing her gun in Serena's face. "Where is he?"

"Do you really think you can kill me in my own home girlie?" She snapped her fingers and from the shadows and walkways above them guns began to appear.

"We don't have time for this. Maven, clean house. Make it fast. I have a kid to go home to," Maverick said and groaned.

Maven nodded and closed his eyes. Screams began to fill the air and bullets zipped past them. The ones that would have hit them were stopped, frozen in the air. Serena started to walk backwards, terrified of the sight before her. She slipped on the blood which now flooded the ground and fell back onto her ass. Sarah stood over her, gun pushed into her mouth.
"Where is he?"

"Bottom floor," she whimpered.

"Maverick. You're faster. Check to make certain he's there."

When she looked up, Maverick was already gone. His knives sliced through the guards standing in the way then he walked up to Sven with a smirk. "This is rather funny. If I had a camera I would take a picture for blackmail."

Sven looked up and rolled his eyes. "What the fuck are you doing here?"

"Sarah was bent on not leaving you," he said as he unchained him and tossed him his clothes.

Sven winced as he stood.
"She's a fool. It's a trap," he said, as he tried to put on his pants. "Shepherd's going to bomb this place."

"I figured as much. She has a piece, know where it is?"

"If I know her she's got it stashed beneath her bed in a safe. Code should be 7604. Get to it speedy."

"I'll get it, you get the others out," he said and was gone.

Sven didn't bother with a shirt. Grabbing his hat, he looted some of her stuff until he found a stash of cigarettes. He smirked and grabbed a few packs while hurrying up to Sarah and Maven.
"Let's get the fuck out of here."

"Sven! Oh my God...you're chest," Sarah whispered.

"Fuck it. It hurts like hell but it's gonna hurt a lot worse if we don't leave."

"Why? What's going on?"

"Bomb. Big bomb." He stopped to look at Serena. "This is goodbye for the last time, Serena."

"You always say that love. Yet you always come back."

Evana looked up as she saw them running to the car. When they got in she looked at them.
"Where is Maverick?"

"Still inside," Sarah said as she threw the car in reverse and started to quickly pull away.

She looked back at the fortress. She wasn't the least bit worried until part of it expoded.
"Maverick!"

"He'll be fine. He's fast," Sarah assured her. Another explosion ripped through the place, and then another. Spinning the car around, she pushed her pedal to the ground as she floored it.

Evana kept watching the fortress, her eyes scanning everything but there was nothing but smoke and dust. No Maverick.

"Hold on!" Boris grabbed Evana, Hailey, and Maven and shielded them as the final eruption took place. The shockwave sent the car flying and spinning upward as flames tore through the air. The car flipped over and over until finally coming to rest upside down.

Evana could hear soft cries and slowly her eyes opened. The smell of blood caked the air. Hailey was trying to stop the bleeding on her leg. There was a large chunk of metal sticking out of it. Her medical bag was under other pieces of metal in the car and she couldn't get to it so she was using her dress to keep the blood from coming out too fast. She was whimpering and crying. There was a large cut on her forehead and the blood was dripping over her eyes. Part of the car was crushed and she couldn't see Sarah or Sven because of it. Boris was out cold but he looked ok other than a few cuts. Maven was pushed off to the side and covered in broken glass but he didn't seem to be too bad off. The glass covered him, but he wasn't bleeding much. Hailey and Evana seemed to be the only ones conscious.

"Hailey..." Evana said as she pushed at the car. "You need to be strong ok? I want you to get out of the car. I smell gas."

Even energy powered cars these days used a small amount of gas.

Hailey shook her head.
"I can't...you're bleeding a lot."

Evana's voice was shaky. "It's alright...I'm strong. Just get out of the car. Go on."

Evana pushed her hands against the bent up car door until it broken under her strength, giving Hailey room to get out. It wasn't big enough for anyone else, but Evana wasn't worried about anyone else. Hailey sniffled as she cried and slowly crawled through glass as she got out of the car. Slipping on blood, she headed for the ground but Evana caught her and pushed her the rest of the way out. "Now run really far from the car, ok?" Hailey nodded and started running.
