Original Stories Fan Fiction ❯ Through Harushi's Eyes ❯ Love ( Chapter 14 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
That night, she went to the cliff, as Yuji had asked. She looked around, but no-one was there. Maybe it was a joke. She lay down on the grass and looked at the night sky. She began to feel its spirit again. It was so calm, and gentle.
“The moon isn’t acknowledged as much as the sun. I like the moon better. I think of it as the night’s sun. Sometimes, if you look deep inside of it, you can feel its spirit, calm and gentle.” Someone spoke words familiar to Harushi. Harushi turned around.
“Yuji!!” she exclaimed. It was Yuji. The real Yuji. “But how?!”
“That doesn’t matter now. All that matters is that I wanted to say sorry for what I did. I know this might sound a bit corny, but I really do love you, Harushi. I love you’re warm face, your blue eyes, your short temper, your long hair …your soul.” Yuji said as he looked into Harushi’s eyes.
“You’re right. That was corny.” Harushi laughed. Yuji laughed too. “But, I bet this will be cornier.” Harushi said as she moved closer to Yuji. Yuji was clueless as to what she was going to do that was more corny than what he did. But it happened before he realised. She kissed him. “I’m sorry I doubted you. But how are you here now?!” Harushi asked.
Yuji didn’t listen to what she had just said. He was bright red. “Uh, I’m sorry. That was a bit…”
“Unexpected?” Yuji finished. They laughed. But Yuji looked serious. “I need to tell you…how I am able to be alive. I asked for life, but only for a short time. What I’m saying is that…”
“You need to die.” Harushi said.
“Yes.” Yuji said as he walked up to the edge of the cliff. Harushi understood. She walked up to him and held his hands.
“So. This is goodbye.” Harushi said. Yuji took a small step off the cliff.
“You know that stone that was in the message, I think it looked like the moon. Don’t you?” Yuji’s words echoed in Harushi’s ears. Their eyes met for one last time. Then it was all over. Harushi waited for that fateful thump. But, it never came. He disappeared already. Harushi was crying that night, her blue eyes wet and shiny. The stone was held to her heart, and the moon glowed brightly through Harushi’s eyes.
