Chapter 1
Light, shinned through the curtains, lighting up the face of a girl. Her name was Jane Frasier, she was the eldest daughter of the Frasier family. They were a clan of vampires, who were all true blood relatives, not just vampire-blood relatives. This was a rare occurrence, for a clan to be all blood relatives. She quickly got out of the comforter enveloping her body. She quickly paced to the mirror over her dresser, and just smiled, refreshed from a nights rest. In reality, vampires didn’t need to rest, they could sleep but nothing beneficial came out of it. However, Jane enjoyed sleeping, it helped her feel more human. She was grateful though, compared to popular media of vampires, the real deal was quite the opposite. Vampires could go out during the daylight, eat real food and enjoy it, and were vary much flesh and blood. However there were still many flaws, which she and many other vampires despised, but nothing could be done about these flaws. She quickly got clothes together, took a shower, and ran down stairs to join the rest of her family for breakfast. Her mother, father, and younger sister was already downstairs, her mother digging in the fridge for the morning meal. Her father looking at the morning paper, her sister eating a bowl of cereal.
“ Good morning Jane” said Samantha Frasier. Her mother looked over her shoulder at her daughter who sat at the table, and flashed a warm smile at her.
Jane simply scoffed at the gesture, “Good morning”, she replied in her traditional manner: stuck up yet loving in every way. Her little sister just smiled at her from across the table, Jane smiling back in a goofy manner, causing her sister to giggle, spitting up some milk. Finally after ten minutes of idle chatter, her younger brother graced them with his presence.
“Its about time you got down here son. We were getting worried about you Marcus” said the father, Ronald Frasier. He never took his attention off the paper, as if breaking political news was taking place. Jane just laughed evilly, “ He’s probably doing what all teenage boys do” , glaring at her brother with wicked humor in her eyes.
“Shut up, you’re not that funny sis! Leave it to the professionals”, barked Marcus, who was agitated the minute he got downstairs.
“ You would think that after being alive for almost 300 years would make you mature, but apparently time doesn’t change everything” she snickered, looking at her brothers dumbfounded face. She laughed some more, until her father cleared his throat, demanding silence. Samantha brought 5 blood bags to the table. Kiara looked disgusted, she still hasn’t gotten used to drinking blood, Ronald still being shocked by her attitude toward this.
“I don’t want to drink today” said Kiara, pushing the bag of O-positive blood away from her face, as her siblings began to drink greedily.
Her mother looked sad, a frown forming on her face, “I know you don’t want to, but you need to drink at least to bags a day, or you will get to weak to tolerate the sun. If that happens you wont be able to leave the house during the day, and you will continue to get weak.”. The daughter just sighed, and began to drink the blood. Over a the thousands of years, vampires learned that drinking enough blood, above the needed 5 ounces a day, can give a vampire tolerance to the sun. Since this discovery, vampires began drinking 8 ounces a day, so gain the ability to walk in the light, with the humans, and other Dark races.
Kiara turned on the TV to see news of the ongoing campaign in the middle east, even though 2012 was fast approaching, and so was Christmas Break.“ I feel sorry for the middle east. To much war and conflict. I wish the High Council would do something” said Kiara, feeling utterly useless, as she is a proactive advocate to world peace. She attended many rallies and spoke often in many organizations, even though she is very young.
“ The only High Council that can help stem the tide in human affairs would be the one in Asia and Africa. Our Council cannot interfere with their affairs, and they are hard pressed controlling their bodies, and cannot deal with the middle east situation.” explained her father, who was trying to comfort his daughter.
“You should join our High Council and voice our Clans opinion, since you our the Clan Master Father.” said Kiara with hope evident on her voice.
Her father chuckled, “I wish I could. However, in order to join the High Council of any continent, the nominee would have to be more the a thousand years old, and prove his loyalty to the Original ruling that council. I have neither of those qualities.” said Ronald, sighing deeply, knowing it hurt her when he said it. It was silent, but then Jane noticed they would be late for school, and she ran out the door , following her siblings. Their parents looked at each other, before Samantha started cleaning up the mess they left. ‘I wonder if my children could handle the real world of vampires. Maybe I’ve sheltered them for far too long’ thought Ronald, deep in thought, never noticing his wife staring at him concerned.
“ Well im off to work. I shall see you when I get home. Will you be busy today?” Ronald to his busy wife.
“No I shall be here when you get home, I only have a couple of houses to show, and not a lot of paper work either. Love you dear” said Samantha. Kissing him on the cheek. He cupped her face, rubbed it ever so gently, and kissed her. No words were said, but she knew his heart, as he left, and drove off.
