Two Sides of the Battle: Chapter One
Prologue:
Times have changed for everyone, even those who aren't the same as everyone else. Wars have been fought and battles have been won but some things will never change. Vampires and werewolves are said to be fake, but not to those who know who we are and what we fight for. If the normal world found out about us we'd be used to do their bidding, to fight their wars and to win their battles. So we hide our identities to all those that are no tone of us. Our war has been going on for too long for anyone of us to remember when it was it started and why it even started. As one of those that have to go and protect the humans I must believe that good will come of this in the end.
Chapter One:
“Dammit, dammit, dammit!” The bell rang and Elaine started to run to class. She barley had enough time to get ready for class. She ran through the halls not paying attention to those around. “She's gonna kill me!” the black haired girl muttered under her breath as she slid around the corner, crashing into a blonde girl. They went toppling over each other and Elaine landed atop of the blonde. “Goddammit!” Elaine hissed as she rolled over and off of the other girl. “Sorry” Elaine muttered sheepishly as she stood and gathered the dropped items and smiled at the girl.
“It's okay, I kinda wasn't paying attention myself so I guess I should apologize too.” The girl smiled back and bowed her head.
“Are you new?” Elaine asked in interest realizing that she'd never seen her in the halls before today. The blonde nodded sheepishly and looked at Elaine. “I'm Elaine; you'll know who I am sooner or later.” Elaine held out her hand for the blonde haired girl to shake. The girl took it and smiled up at Elaine. Elaine suddenly noticed that the girl was probably intimidated with the fact the she stood 6'5” and had an athletic build. The blonde, on the other hand stood only about 5'1” with an extremely small build.
“My name is Crystal.” She had a soft feminine voice that made Elaine think that she sounded like an angel would sound. Elaine shrugged off the feeling and sighed softly; only certain people sounded like that and she wasn't gonna jinx herself by saying it now.
“So crystal what class you going to?” Elaine asked casually as she handed Crystal her things that she had accidentally picked up with her stuff.
“Well Creative Writing, why may I ask?” Crystal spun the situation on Elaine, she was grinning when Elaine looked at her confusedly.
“I just wanted to know what class you were going to is there something else I should be asking?” Elaine asked then smiled slightly.
“That depends on what it is you're planning on asking.” Crystal smiled maliciously and chuckled slightly.
“Um, nothing.” Elaine said as she gave Crystal a weird look then shook her head.
“So where are you going?” Crystal asked in innocence.
“Advanced Drawing, why?” Elaine asked turning the tables in her favor as the two of them started to walk down the hall together. Both girls forgetting that they were now considered absent for the day in their selected classes.
“Just wondering” Crystal smiled at Elaine then yawned tiredly.
“What am I that boring?”
“Maybe” Crystal said then laughed when Elaine looked at her with a crestfallen expression on her face. “I'm playing around; I didn't get too much sleep last night. I was up all night trying to get my stuff for school together.” She sounded elegant and proper.
“Chica, why are you being so, what's the word, goodie?” Elaine gave Crystal a serious expression.
“What do you mean?” Crystal asked in confusion.
“That, you're talking all proper, why?” Elaine repeated her question again.
“I was taught too speak that way, why is it that horrendous?”
“Yup, here it is.”
“So I should act more like a street punk that doesn't listen to anything anyone says?” Crystal was getting upset about what Elaine said.
“What's wrong with street punks?” Elaine asked irately as she tried to calm down. Just what she needed was a prissy little girl talking down about her type of people.
“They're dis-”
“On second thought never mind, I gotta go, later” Elaine said as she started to walk away from Crystal.
“What?” Crystal's jaw dropped when Elaine didn't even say goodbye. She just turned the corner and disappeared from her line of sight. Elaine was pissed now; she didn't even know why she was this pissed over something so small. She shook her head, it didn't matter, and something about this Crystal girl just didn't add up right, only certain people sounded like angels and were that pretty. (No she is not one of them.) Elaine thought to herself as she continued to make her way to art class. Her teacher was extremely pissed when she walked into the classroom so late.
“Elaine will you come up here please?” the Mrs. Kawazaka's voice came from the front of the classroom? Elaine sighed softly as she stood up form her artwork and walked to the front desk.
“What's up teach?” Elaine asked casually, the teacher glared at her and shook her head.
“You were late again, why is this?” she asked irritably.
“Oh that, I ran into a new student,” Elaine stopped when the teacher shook her head.
“Do you know this new student or something?” She asked looking up at Elaine.
“No I literally ran into her, I landed on her and we started talking then I got really irritated and walked away.” Elaine smiled slightly when the teacher shook her head again.
“Why did you get irritated, might I ask?” Mrs. Kawazaka asked in amusement. She had a small smirk on her face.
“She decided to dis on street punks. She just doesn't know that I'm one of those disrespectful street punks, her words not mine.” Elaine said when she got a few looks from some of the kids that were sitting by the teacher's desk. “So I got really pissed off and walked away form her.”
“Just make sure that you don't get into another fight this semester other wise the teachers will go back on the deal.” Mrs. Kawazaka said reminding Elaine of their proposition. Elaine nodded thoughtfully and sighed softly, there was still a total of three weeks till the end of the semester, then she was allowed to choose what classes she went to.
“No problem teach I won't get into another fight, that don't include stopping someone from attempting to kick my ass does it?” Elaine asked in absolute innocence.
“Yes cause you prolly started it, so sorry.” The teacher smiled when Elaine dropped her head and sighed sadly. “Now go back to your seat before the other kids take it.” Elaine nodded slightly and started to walk to her seat when she almost ran into another girl, this one she knew.
XxXxXx (Crystals Class)
“You can sit by Jessica for now because we don't have enough seats to give everyone till Tuesday.” Crystal nodded her head and went over to sit next to a slightly taller black girl. Jessica smiled at her then went back to talking to her friends. Crystal sat on the heater that she was told to sit on and sighed softly.
“So I heard you ran into Elaine?” Crystal looked to her left to see a girl with thin wire framed glasses at the tip of her nose and a kind smile on her face. She was just a little bit pudgier than herself but she still looked nice in her school uniform, Crystal herself didn't have one yet because they had to order it.
“Yeah why?” Crystal asked trying to find out about who the girl that she ran into earlier was. The girl chuckled and sat next to Crystal.
“I also heard you pissed her off.” The girl smiled when Crystal shot her a confused look. “She walked away from you, why's that?”
“I started to say how disrespectful street punks were and she got all irritated.” Crystal stated matter-of-factly, then looked up to find about half the class staring at her with their jaws hanging open. “How loudly did I say that?” She turned to the pudgy girl with a confused look.
“Pretty loudly, but that doesn't matter cause the info is already known through out the school.” She smiled at Crystal when she turned pale. “By the way my name's Erika, what's yours?” Erika held out her hand for her to shake it.
“Crystal” the blonde took the hand and shook it.
“Just forget about what happened, `cause she's just one of the street punks that you call disrespectful, in fact most of us are, we found out about this place after most of our parents kicked us out for various reasons.” Erika smiled thoughtfully and looked back at Crystal.
“Was Elaine kicked out too?” Crystal asked slightly irritated at the fact that she decided to call street punks disrespectful. She shook her head and figured that she'd talk to her later.
“Yeah in fact she was kicked out when she was thirteen then the school decided that they would take her in till she turned eighteen, she's been here the longest of all the students our age.” Erika stated as she smiled at Crystal again, and then stood up to go talk to the teacher. Crystal shook her head and sighed softly she felt like shit yet she didn't ant to apologize, something in Elaine made her want to stay as far away form her as possible yet another part of her said get too know the tall back haired girl better. What was she to do? The rest of the class went by in a blur and Crystal didn't even pay attention. When the bell rang the students took their time packing their stuff then walked out of the classroom.
