Other Fan Fiction ❯ Running Scared-Dir en grey ❯ Just a little somthing... ( Chapter 3 )

“Sir…” Dir en grey's leader shook his half made up purple head. While in the process of glaring daggers his attention had been so undivided that he didn't even register that the chairs where now empty. The occupants had gotten up and left his line of sight at some point in the last thirty seconds. One quick glance around confirmed that the two weren't even in the room anymore. They could be off doing anything at that moment. There was more to be done then just doing hair and applying make up.
Kaoru looked up at the hair dresser with question. She raised her eyebrows and smiled.
“Sorry but you seemed a bit dazed there for a second.” She giggled and placed her hand on the back of the chair. He found her smile pretty and he grinned back. Wait, who is this girl? This isn't his hair dresser.
“Thanks, I was.” He straightened up to give her easier access to his whole head. Thin fingers plucked a section of hair and folded it on to the iron. This wasn't like the older lady. These hands seemed gentle and kind.
“Where did the other lady go? Megumi-san I mean.” The hands ran his hair through the iron all the way then paused. She rotated the chair so that he could see her reflection in the mirror. Her face showed clearly and seemed familiar.
It was only a guess but he assumed she was American by heritage. He didn't want to stereotype but that's the best he could get with green eyes and blonde hair. Her round face was flattering to her body in an innocent type way. Cherub was the word. Or course she was ungodly tall for a woman and her hair was cropped short instead on long.
“Would you like me to get her for you? I am sorry we haven't formally met.” She now looked incredibly somber.
Kaoru's hands shot up as he attempted to repair the damage done.
“No. No, its fine! I was just wondering where she went in such a hurry.”
The pain in her petite eyes started to disappear. She looked his age or perhaps younger. He really couldn't gauge it with that face.
“I believe,” She started with a smile. “That her services were needed else where.” Kaoru raised an eyebrow and she giggled. He wondered what female secrets she was hiding with that smile. Her smile looked good on her face. She stepped back and bowed.
“I am Ely. I got here two days ago. I am a last minute extra. I hear you've been working your two hair dressers to the bone.” Pleasantry was contagious and it made Kaoru warm again. She showed up at the right moment.
“Nice to meet you,” He bowed his head back. “I'm Kaoru, the leader of the band. I'd thought I'd seen you before. You mixed our hair pigments the other day. You did a great job. Die's hair looks awesome.”
She beamed from the compliment and grabbed at his hair again.
“Die?” She questioned without looking up.
“The other guitarist, his name is Daisuke. But we all call him Dai.”
“Ah” She responded neutrally. She continued her work in silence until hellish sounds started scratching up the hallway.
“I think they will need me soon for sound testing and practice.” Kaoru commented. His whole head felt warmed by the iron but the air around him now smelled of burnt hairs and spray.
“Well,” Her mouth said from above him. “I guess I should finish this up then.” After that she worked faster but never sacrificed her care in the job done.
After meeting the new hair dresser Kaoru was a little less agitated. He hoped that during the remainder of the tour he'd learn more about her. In the last few minutes of there meeting he asked her where she was from and why she was living in Japan. He found out that she was infact German and not American. She told the story of how she had been an exchange student for two years of her life. She was first sent to America to live for a year which she gave a brief summary of her experiences and the people she met. After that she said she lived at home for a year and was then sent to Japan. Though she only knew a few phrases of the language she said it still took only two months to know that Japan was where she wanted to live. Eventually, she returned home to finish her schooling all the while learning the Japanese language from the comfort of her home.
“Of course, with the aid of a tutor.” She added.
She told him about how she saved up almost every dime she had and with a little help from her family she moved to Tokyo. She expressed to him how hard it had been to get by in such an expensive city but after finishing her four months of “Hair College” she finally started to make some money.
He didn't find her story boring at all. He actually found it rather interesting and a little exciting to meet someone of another culture. He wanted to ask her more questions but the on-task-worker in him advised against it. When she pulled off his smock and turned him around he expressed they should talk more. She beamed and agreed with a nod.
“When you are not busy come find me.”
He bid her goodbye for now and went to find his band. When he got to the door he stopped and asked for her name again.
“Oh, it's Ely Rosenthal.”
Just as he thought he found them in the seats in front of the stage. They were observing a light show as it went off with blank and bored stares. Kyo's face was emotionless as it changed from red to green to yellow. When the lights turned to lasers he got up to talk with the lights guy. After exchanging a few words the guy nodded and ran up the stairs to talk with the people that worked under him.
Upon seeing Kaoru the staff called for a band and sound practice. They all mumbled agreement and climbed onto the stage like children being called in from recess. Kyo said nothing as he crawled up and on the platform. He positioned himself to his spot and took up the microphone. He waited as Shinya counted with his sticks and got onto the beat.
Mundane and absent of event the rest of the afternoon went on like this. They tested lights, sang, played, joked with the staff, and sat around eating until someone told them to make use of themselves. Kaoru had no real chance to talk to Kyo in private seeing as the band was always traveling in a pack. He thought of pulling Kyo aside but it seemed inappropriate and besides, to draw attention to the situation was the last thing he wanted. Keeping this thing as private as possible was the wisest solution. Above all he was still debating on what his words would be. What would he say to Kyo? Should he be blunt about it or more round-about?
The day went by fast but the start of the show felt like forever. They always do. One by one as Deity play at an ungodly loud octave they walked on to the stage melodramatically. The audience loved it and the screams approval proved it. The show went by as planned and as it progressed farther into the night the more pumped the band became. They ended the show with bang of enthusiasm that left the audience begging for more. They cheered, hooted and howled until with modest waves of there hands the band came back on to the stage for two more encores; but of course all good things must come to an end. The lights turned on to there brightest and Dir en grey thanked there fans for coming and bid them good night.
Even after the fans were gone the work was still not done. There was still a list of things to do before they could lay down to rest. Dir en grey first had to take on the task of removing three hundred layers of make up and hair spray. This basically took the whole Atlantic Ocean and then some. Almost all theatre venues had showers and lockers for the performers. It was small blessing like these that made life more tolerable. With their make up off and soft new clothes replacing hot sweat its easier to help out the staff in putting the set away.
It just so happens, in an odd twist of fate that Kyo and Kaoru were left alone. Kaoru didn't think that he was the only one to notice it either. He had been observing Kyo from an unsatisfying distance of three lockers down. He found he could be easily hypnotized by a single drop of perspiration going down Kyo's hip and into his black jeans. He scowled. He wanted to continue watching it on its journey down. The others were chatting away pleasantly and without notice or at least it seemed so. The sound of the door was like a judge's gavel coming down to write their sentence. There was a small pause in both their movements. Kyo, who had his shirt half on gave the door a side glance. The locker room was empty and silent. The sound of their fellow band mates voices faded down the hall. He then glanced to Kaoru and when he saw he was looking back Kyo uncomfortably averted his eyes. He yanked the shirt completely over his head and sat down to do his shoes.
Kaoru felt unsure of himself as he searched for something to say. What could he say? `Are you sleeping with Die?' It'd be hard to say with out being rude but this was his chance to clear things up. God sent him a moment and he had to use it! Taking notice of Kyo's rush in dressing Kaoru quickly pulled on his pants. Kyo threw his shower products helter skelter into his cosmetics bag and rushed for the escape with it in tow; zipping the bag closed as he walked.
No, I can't let him leave, Kaoru thought frantically to himself. He felt a burst of dynamism coming from the center of all his enthusiasm. It grew a conscious and single handedly took him over. To steal a man's body to gain human attributes made the thing a demon. This monster covered the distance of the locker room in half the time it took Kyo. The soul stealing fiend planted its self in Kyo's path and slammed a palm onto the metal locker with such force the reverberation stopped Kyo dead at Kaoru's chest. Kyo's sneakers squeaked in resistance as he slid to a stop.
“Kyo!” Kaoru bore a stare that held an animalistic intensity on Kyo's god fearing wide eyes. A silence penetrated the space between them as they stared each other down.
“Uh…Yes?” Kyo stepped back a step and tried to compose himself back to his `whatever' demeanor. It was obvious to Kaoru he was failing seeing as Kyo's eyes still looked too awake to be normal.
“Well, um…I,” Kaoru's deep voice stuttered. No, this isn't a good way for it come out, he scolded himself. You have to sound more confident, he instructed his inner mind. Wait, what am I gonna say again? He decided to just look Kyo in the eye, hoping the message would be seen in his gaze. Was he readable enough? Could Kyo feel his warmth and disappointment?
Kyo moved his eyes away and looked at Kaoru's hand on the locker. The gesture had been an aggressive one. The sound had left him shaking in his Creepers but now he could feel the excitement of it stirring something more positive in him. The dominatrix power of it brought images and thoughts that he only conceived when he was alone in his room. He swallowed and looked at Kaoru again. His stare was unfaltering. He HAD to get out of here.
“If you have nothing to say Kaoru…then I need to go.” Kaoru's gaze broke and he jerked his back.
“W-wait…I do…I just…don't know what to say.” He confessed shamelessly.
“Well, when you figure it out then come get me.” Kyo gabbed hold of his bag again and started to walk around Kaoru. Kaoru blinked. He could hear the hidden meaning behind that statement. Come get me. Oh, I'll get you alright, Kaoru thought. His hair flipped out of the way as he turned. He caught Kyo's upper arm in this grip, causing him to drop his bag. Its contents rattled against each other. Kyo's head jerked and held a startled stare. His lips were slightly parted from a small inaudible gasp. Kaoru bent down and kissed those soft lips. Like before, it was an innocent kiss but the pressure in which it was held was a dangerous sign. He pulled away and looked down at Kyo for a result. He was gapping up at him and trying to find his voice.
“I `figured it out'.” He explained with a curved smirk. Kyo looked down and nervously chuckled. Kyo pulled back slightly and his arm was freed. He rubbed it to comfort himself. Blush started to grace his cheeks as he stared at the ugly floor.
“So, you really want me?” His voice was small and sheepish. Kaoru nodded. “Yeah…” Was all his dry throat would let him say. There was a silence that fallowed. It drifted in-between them like a sticky hot breeze. Kaoru opened his mouth to say something but Kyo was faster.
“I need to go. See you later.” He said quickly. He picked up his bag and headed to door. He was a few feet away when Kaoru called out.
“Wait! You can't leave now!” Kyo stopped and gave him a confused looked.
“What do you mean I can't leave now? Of course I can. Watch me.”
“Wait one more second! Don't leave me!' Kaoru shouted.
“No.” His voice sounded shaky like he couldn't take it. He turned to leave again and Kaoru caught him around the waist. “Hold on!” Kyo turned his head and gave Kaoru a curled lip. His expression couldn't be anymore clear. His eyes looked down at Kaoru's arms then at his face. How dare you.
Kyo spelled it out slowly with dangerous forewarning.
“I said no.” Shocked, Kaoru let him go. Kyo stomped out feeling no longer loved but more so violated.
A mournful sign racked Kaoru as he stared at the door.
I said no.
