Neron looked at Sophitia and then to Mia as she stormed off. "I'm suppose to be able to sense everything she's feeling and yet I still don't understand her," he sighed, pondering what Loki had just told him. He was fond of chaos and confusion, he had no idea whether or not he could trust what he had just told him. Undoubtedly Sophitia had over heard everything.
"Sophitia, you're female...do you have any idea what's going on with, Mia? She seems distant as of late; and with her trying to block her emotions from me, all I get is this numbing sensation which makes it incredibly hard to focus or concentrate on anything."
Sophitia shrugged. "I've always thought her to be a calm and sweet girl. She pushed me..." she said still a little shocked. "It didn't hurt but it wasn't expected. She said she has a lot of tension. Maybe she is just stressed or maybe master is over working her."
He nodded slowly. "I'll tell Keith to cool it with the training. Hopefully that's all that is wrong." He looked back at where Loki was standing and then to Sophitia. "Maybe we don't have to worry anymore. Maybe the fighting will be over."
"I don't think the Gods will just let it go so easily. Most likely...they will kill us. They aren't ones to be so kind and take our powers then let us go free," Sophitia said. She had to admit she really wasn't looking forward to their decision.
Neron nodded. "That is what I fear as well. They will simply remove us from the fabric of existence...after all we have done for them, we will be cast aside once we are no longer useful."
"I'm not telling my master and I would appreciate it if you didn't tell Mia because we know she will tell master," she said. "Besides, telling her now would only add to her stress."
"Don't worry, I wouldn't tell, Mia unless she ordered me to. I want to protect her from this as much as possible." He frowned and shook his head, still unable to believe what he was hearing. "What would you do if you were free? If you were a normal mortal woman."
"Live. Just live. And die, for real. It's all I've ever wanted," she said. "I have always made sure not to fall in love and to not let my masters fall in love with me just so I wouldn't feel regret if I didn't win. But I long for the day that I can just live and have a family. Grow old and die."
"You and I share the same dream then. All I wish is to have a family once more. To live my life, and to die when it is my time." He toyed with the mark on his hand and closed his eyes. "Though I guess I cannot attest to the fact that I have been faithful to the hearts of my master's; I do believe that I have at least earned the right to be mortal...and human once more."
"Don't you know? We lost all rights when we said yes to the Gods," she said and walked back inside.
"True, but I think that even the gods have to pay for their crimes eventually." He joined her inside, stopping in the kitchen so that he could procure some of Keith's wine.
"They are Gods. No one punishes them but each other," she said rolling her eyes.
Mia sat in Keith's room laying back on his bed while he sat in shock that she had willingly walked in his room and laid on his bed. She hadn't said anything but she just didn't want to be alone right now. And at the moment, she was mad at Neron so she didn't want to be with him either. There was only Keith left.
"So...umm...what's up?" Keith was eying her both out of confusion and because she was wearing her pajamas. He wasn't complaining at all. Maybe she wanted to sleep with him tonight. That ranked high on his to do list.
"I hate my life," Mia said. She curled up into a ball. "I can't stop thinking about 'what if's.' And no, I don't want to talk about it."
"Okay?" She was acting weird. Weirder than usual. Going over to the bed, he sat down and rubbed her back while she was in the fetal position. "Well...there's not much you can do about 'what if's' accept try to avoid them."
"Easy for you to say. You don't have a care in the world," she said.
"That's not true. I worry about a lot of things, I just don't let it get to me."
She turned to him. Looking up at him. "Like what?"
"Like what I'm going to do when this over. What I'm going to do without Sophitia here to take care of me. Whether or not we'll even win. What will happen if I fail her? Things like that," he shrugged.
Mia sat up she hugged him. "That's exactly how I feel. And no matter what I do, I can't stop thinking about it."
He hugged her, taking in her scent as his hand rubbed her back. "Well, I've had years of practice. Worrying doesn't do anything but make you sick and you end up missing out on the things you like. I use to worry, then I figured out I had more fun if I let myself go. Just because I'm worried about something, doesn't mean that I let it dictate my life. "
"I wish it was that easy for me," she said into his chest. "I've failed him so many times and I have no money...no power...nothing to offer him in help. I just...I just don't feel like I should be doing this."
"You've saved his life. You've helped to restore most of his powers. You've given him a strong heart. You're doing wonderfully, Mia. He sees this and so do I. Do not doubt yourself so much. You're not cute when you're all emo."
Mia laughed. "Is that all you can think about?"
"No, but at least you're laughing. It's been a while since anyone's heard that."
Mia smiled and held him tighter. "You're a good friend, Keith. I don't know what I would do without you."
"Well, if we weren't friends I'd probably have raped you by now. So that's something." He smirked and he pat her head. "Do you feel better?"
"A little," she said. Looking around his room, she pulled back from him. He wasn't subtle about hiding his 'toys.' "Keith...you are really gross..."
Keith looked around and shrugged. "What? I get bored sometimes. Speaking of which. Lover boy was curious about some of our modern techniques, because apparently he thinks that he bores you. So I took him under my wing." He smirked as he reached down and pulled out a black box. "In here is everything you will ever need to experience euphoria."
Mia took the box from him and put it back where he got it. "Stop it. That's gross. I'm not using toys that you used on someone else...or yourself."
He rolled his eyes. "They're all new, you pervert. I'm not going to give you my prized joys."
"It's still gross. And stop talking to Neron about sex...it's creepy," she said and shivered. "It gives you a mental image of me that I don't like."
"Eh, it's not like those images weren't already in there," he smirked. "And I spent good money on those toys so you better use them or I'll incorporate them into our training sessions."
"There is no way I'm going to let you do that during training. Keep your toys. I didn't ask for your help. And just because I'm not riding Neron every second of the day doesn't mean I've grown bored," she said and shrugged.
"So you do ride him? Go on." He looked down at her with a devilish grin.
"Like one time, that's all you get," she said smirking.
"You'll ride me one time?" He was already laying down and pulling off his pants.
"Stop it!" Mia yelled and put her hands over her eyes.
"What!? You offered!"
"I will choke you!" she threatened but her hands didn't lower from her eyes.
"Okay? Please do?"
"Stop it, Keith! And put your pants back on!" She was blushing now.
"Hey! You promised! You're not allowed to take back your promises!" He smiled as he rolled over toward her, a certain part of him grazing her.
Mia jumped back, falling off the bed and landing on the floor with a loud 'thud.' "Ouch..." she mumbled. "I didn't promise anything."
"You said you'd do it only once and that you'd choke me. Neither have yet to happened." He rolled over so that he could look down at her. "I'm waiting."
"You are twisting my words," she said rubbing the back of her head. She sat up and looked up at him. Blushing, she looked away quickly. "Put pants on now!"
"Not until you do what you promised!" He stuck out his tongue for added effect.
"I will scream! I will scream until Neron comes in here and rips you head off," she threatened. Her face was burning hot and she shut her eyes tightly.
He chuckled and reached out and caressed her cheek. "You're blushing," he teased, not taking her threats seriously because he knew they were just idle words.
Mia pulled away from him, sliding her back against the wall and still looking away. "Because this is a very embarrassing moment."
"Not for me," he told her. "The only reason you find it so embarrassing is because a part of you is curious as to how it would be."
Mia pulled her legs to herself, praying she could keep her feelings at bay before Neron felt anything. "Don't...say such things...." she whispered.
"Why not? They're obviously true," he told her. "The only guy you've been with is Neron, so you're curious. You've thought about me before, and a part of you is excited by the prospect of actually fulfilling that desire that you've thought about for so long."
Mia stood and started for the door. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Kiss me and then tell me that to my face," he told her.
"You don't have any pants on...and I've kissed you before," she said with her hand still resting on the door.
"Yes, you have; and I know that you felt something and that you enjoyed it. I want you to kiss me again; and then tell afterward tell me whether or not you're curious about what it would be like to be with me."
"Again...you don't have any pants on, and it would be cheating..." Mia said. Still she couldn't turn the door knob.
Keith stood and pulled on his boxers. Walking over to her, he put his hand on top of her's while his other hand went to her waist. "Tell me now," he whispered in her ear, his lips pressing against her cheek.
Mia turned to him. "It's...cheating..." she said slowly as her eyes met his.
"He's an immortal demi-god who has had countless lovers. That's cheating." Pulling her against him, he ran his lips over hers. He deepened the kiss while his tongue slowly worked its way into her mouth.
Mia kept her eyes open but they closed after a few seconds. Her heart picked up its pace and her hands went to his chest. Every inch of her felt like it was wrong and yet, she didn't want the kiss to ever end.
Neron felt only a second pain as the bottle shattered in his hand. Sophitia looked up at him, but he didn't say a word. The glass dug into his flesh, but he just reached out for a rag to clean up his mess. He kept his feelings tightly pulled back from her so that she wouldn't be persuaded to do something against her will.
Keith continued to deepen this kiss. He sucked on her lips, gently biting them as his hands ran over her body. When he finally pulled back to breath, he watched as she whimpered at the absence of his lips. "Now tell me," he whispered as he kissed her jaw line and her neck. "Tell me that you're not curious."
Mia kept her eyes closed. "Please...don't do this. I love Neron..."
"You love your bond, not him," he told her as his lips trailed over her flesh. "I won't force you to do anything that you don't want." His hands slid down her body to her hips as he pressed her against the door, his lips never leaving her skin.
Mia was trying hard, really hard to deny him. But with his lips all over her, she couldn't help herself as her arousal washed over her. With her hands on his chest she pushed him back. "I can't...I won't be devastated if he did this to me with someone else like Elyssa." Placing her hand on the knob, she turned it. "I don't want to ruin our friendship...I don't want you to throw me away after it's all said and done." She pulled open the door and stepped out while biting her lip. She wanted to stay and she wanted to go. It was so hard to choose.
He placed his hand on her shoulder as she stepped out. "I won't throw you away," he promised. "The others yes, but not you. You I would keep forever."
Mia shook her head. "Forever is a very long time for you."
"I think I could give it a try," he whispered. "If you'd give me the chance to do so."
Mia pulled his hand from her. "I need time to think. Everything is just so confusing. You don't even love me, Keith. You could be making a huge mistake. You should think about this too," she said. Leaning over, she kissed his cheek. Slowly, she pulled back and walked down the hall.
He nodded. "Don't keep me waiting," he smirked.
Mia looked back at him. Fixing her pajamas, she walked started towards her room. She stopped when she saw Neron in the kitchen with a blood hand. She knew he felt everything. She knew he was going to be mad. Her heart ached and she wasn't sure if it was because of him or of her.
Neron looked at her as she stared at him. Turning his back to her he turned on the sink and began pulling the shards of broken glass out of his hand. He let the water wash over his hand, watching as it turned a pink color and cascaded into the drain. He didn't look at her. Right now, he couldn't. If she wanted to be with Keith, so be it. That was her decision, but he wouldn't stand there and wait while she played them both until she made her decision.
Mia felt guilt and anger wash over her. Both from her and Neron. She walked outside and sat down in the grass after getting far enough away from the house so she could cry without being heard. Pulling her knees to her chest, she cried as she started up into the sky. Was her love just the bond? Was his? And was Keith's words true? Would he really stay with her forever, no matter what? She had all these doubts and all the concerns and no one could give her any answers. She wished she could tell the difference in the bond and her feelings for Neron so things could be clearer, but at the same time, she never wanted to lose that bond.
Turning off the water, he wiped his hand on the rag by the sink, hissing at the pain. He tossed the rag away from him, not caring where it landed. He looked at Sophitia who was either clueless or just didn't care enough to do anything. He shook his head and started for their room. Stopping, he instead went to the guest room and plopped down on the bed to try and clear his thoughts.
Mia didn't come back in for hours. The sun was rising when she finally did. Opening the door to her room, she started crying again when she realized Neron wasn't there. She collapsed on the bed and curled up in a ball while clutching a pillow. After a few more hours of crying, she finally passed out from exhaustion.
Neron was up by the time Mia passed out. He had felt her sadness all night long, and yet he couldn't feel sorrow for her. No one had forced her to do what she had done. Grabbing a bottle of wine, he looked up to see Keith there, whistling as he poured himself a drink.
"Good morning sunshine!"
Neron stared at him and shook his head. "Shut up," he muttered.
"Aww, someone's a grouch today."
He froze, his hands flexing as he kept walking. "Just shut up."
Sophitia looked at Keith. "You are playing with fire and I want you to know that I can not kick his ass when he is pissed."
"Sophitia, you're female...do you have any idea what's going on with, Mia? She seems distant as of late; and with her trying to block her emotions from me, all I get is this numbing sensation which makes it incredibly hard to focus or concentrate on anything."
