"Yes. She's very special." Keith reached over and pinched her butt. "I mean look at that ass! It's fantastic!"
Mia reached behind her and swung, but of course he wasn't there. "For once, I wish you would be serious, Keith."
He laughed as he popped up with his drink in hand. "Be serious about what?"
She turned to him with an arm full of things for a sandwich. Putting them down on the counter she closed the fridge and started making on. "About everything."
"What's the point? You know, you'd look really great in Sophitia's maid outfit doing that," he told her.
Mia stopped and looked at him. "Keith...you only ever think about one thing. It makes it hard connecting with you. I mean, just yesterday, I wanted to be comforted and all you wanted to do was pick me up and set me on the counter to have your way with me." She finished the sandwich and put the things up. "I'm beginning to think that the only reason you want me around is because I keep saying no. As soon as I give it to you, you will grow bored and I will be on my own again. And that's exactly why I won't do anything with you. You mean a lot to me, but I mean very little to you." She leaned over and kissed his cheek. "One day I hope you will find something worth sticking around for." She grabbed her sandwich and walked back to her room with Neron.
"Huh? Well, she's really boring today. What is it with all of you trying to get into my affairs all of a sudden?" First Sophitia started talking about his love life, now Mia. Was there a conspiracy abound?
"Maybe we are just tired of your routine," Sophitia smirked and downed her drink. "Or maybe it's just what she said. She cares about you and you are wasting away you life...even if your are an immortal."
"Right, well whatever you say my love." He smirked and started for his room.
It was two days before Neron was able to use his arms again. His eye sight was almost back to normal, albeit a little blurry. All his other wounds were nothing but faint memories, so he was feeling much better. "With Fenrir out of the picture, that means that there's what? About nineteen of us left?" He felt around in the fridge until he found what he thought was a bottle of soda.
Sophitia was sitting on the counter reading something so he turned to her while awaiting her answer.
"You killed one before that so there are eighteen left," she said and flipped the page.
Mia was outside with Keith, training as always.
"Right, Anastasia." He shook his head at the memory. Taking a swig of his drink, he tried to focus on what she was reading. "What is that?"
"You've got to do better than that," Keith sighed as he tossed the knife into the ground. "Imagine that I'm Elyssa and come at me with everything you've got."
Mia looked up at him. "You've had years of practice. I've had a few weeks." Picking up the knife, she stood and brushed herself off. "Can't I have the gun back? I think I'm better with that."
Sophitia put down the book. "Nothing of interest." She pointed to the map next to him. "If you hand me that map, I can tell you exactly how many are left, because I'm sure some of them have been killed by fighting each other."
Keith smirked and shook his head. "You're decent with the gun, but you need to improve all areas of fighting." He pulled the gun out of the back of his pants and cocked it. "Now, come at me again."
Neron felt around until he felt some paper folded together. He handed it to her, leaning against the counter while she sensed the others.
Sophitia unfolded the map and spread it out. Her hand went over the map and suddenly she could see little red dots on it. Counting the dots she sat back. "There are fifteen of us left," she said. She looked at the two dots in the north. "Looks like two are fighting. So their might be fourteen soon."
Neron nodded slowly. "Those are actually really good odds," he sighed. Shaking his head he rubbed his eyes. "Though I don't know if it makes much difference in the end."
Mia looked at the gun. "Hell no! It's not fair you get to use the gun! You'll shoot me! And I can't out run a bullet!" She threw the knife down. "I quit. I don't want to play this game anymore."
Keith groaned and rolled his eyes. "Fine. Take a shower and relax. We'll continue tomorrow."
"Blah blah blah," Mia said and started inside. "Whatever you say, master," she added rolling her eyes.
"You can call me master all you want," Keith smiled.
"No she can't," Neron said, as they entered. He smirked as he saw her blurry form coming toward him. "She's my master; and you have your own slave."
Sophitia smirked. Mia looked back at Keith. "Let him have his dreams, Neron. It's only fair," she said and kissed Neron's cheek. "I'm going to get a shower. After all that groping, I need to clean up."
"Groping?" Neron frowned, reaching up he squeezed her breasts. "These are off limits, Keith."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah." Keith smirked and pressed his lips against Sophitia's. "Wanna take a shower?"
Mia slapped Neron. "Look, just because you get to touch them behind closed doors doesn't mean you get to touch them whenever you like," she said.
Sophitia smirked at Keith. "Are you asking or ordering? Do you really want my answer?"
Neron frowned. "I was just making a point."
Keith smirked. "Answer first. Then I'll order you."
"No," Sophitia said plainly. "I don't like men."
Mia took off her shirt and threw it in the laundry room a few feet away. "I need more sports bras, Keith," she said and looked at the one she was wearing. One of the straps were cut. "You keep trying to take them off."
Sophitia smirked. "Can I take a shower with her?"
Mia stiffened. "No..." she said slowly.
Keith smirked. "Sure just give me your measurements love and I'll grab you some more. Maybe some lacy ones while I'm at it."
Neron moved over to Mia, not liking the fact that she was getting undressed right in front of Keith. Wrapping his arms around her, he kissed her. "Can I take a shower with you, master?"
Keith rolled his eyes. "Come on, Sophitia. We're going to have our own fun. That's an order."
Sophitia groaned and followed Keith out. Mia smiled. "Sure you can," she said and started to their room while undoing her shorts and taking her hair down.
Once they got into their room, Neron smiled and wrapped his arms around her waist. He nibbled on her flesh while his fingers toyed with her broken bra strap. His fingers glowed as he took the small cut on her flesh onto himself.
Mia pulled from his arms. "You didn't have to do that," she said as she walked to the bathroom. She looked at her blood hands and ran then under some water. Looking in the mirror she could see Elyssa's work scabbed over. She turned on the water and started the shower then finished undressing and stepped in.
Neron frowned as he followed after her. "It is my job to keep you from harm. Taking your wounds is a small part of that." He slipped off his own clothes and got into the shower with her, wondering why she was suddenly so dead set against him touching her.
"Yeah, but you don't have to take the small ones. I mean, if I get shot or stabbed or in a horrible accident, it would be great to have you around for that. But I can heal on my own with the small stuff," she said as the water washed over her. She moaned. The warm water felt good.
He traced his hand down the small of her back while the water cascaded over her. "Very well, master. I will let you keep the small wounds."
"Why are you calling me master? You've been doing that for two days," she said as she grabbed the shampoo.
"Because I'm suppose to," he told her. Reaching for a rag, he ran soap over it before running it over her flesh. "Sophitia reminded me of my place."
Mia turned to him. "I told you how I felt about you calling me that, Neron. I don't treat you like a pet so you shouldn't have to act like one. I let you do what you want, say what you want."
"It is not because of the way you treat me," he told her, his hands falling to his sides. "I cannot remember most of my former masters; but I do believe that you are the best I have ever had. My reason for respecting you in such a way, is because Sophitia reminded me that the gods are watching my every move. Perhaps if I follow their rules they will be more...lenient toward my destiny."
Mia softened. She turned back to the water to wash the shampoo out of her face. "Well...you don't remember Elyssa...I'm sure she treated you well too. And all your other girl masters. But if you feel that you want to do this and that it might help, then I understand."
"Thank you." He wrapped his arms around her and kissed the nape of her neck. "There are only a few of us left. As long as Sophitia and I work together our chances of getting through this are very good. Maybe this time I will get to stay."
Mia didn't like to think of the future much. She knew the possibility of losing him and she wasn't sure what she would do if she did. She had no idea how she could just go back to living a normal life after everything. Mia grabbed the rag from him and started to finish washing herself. "Yeah. Let's keep our hopes up."With his chest press to her back, she could feel all of him. They hadn't really touched each other since the night before Loki attacked in the forest. That was about a week ago. She didn't really know why they hadn't done anything, but it wasn't like she didn't mind the non-contact. Actually, she got most of her fill when training with Keith.
He smiled as the warm water washed over both of them. "So, since I'm all healed up now. How about that makeup sex?" Though he didn't say it, the master was implied in his tone. He hadn't been able to do much other than lay on a bed for the past couple of days; and Sophitia had refused to train with him until he would prove a challenge, so he was ready to do anything to escape the boredom of simply doing nothing.
Mia turned off the water. "Not now. I'm a little tired after training," she said and slipped out. She wrapped a towel around her and walked to the bedroom to find her night clothes.
"Oh...." He watched her leave, frowning as she did so. Turning off the water, he dried off and put back on his clothes. Exiting to their room, he watched her change, but didn't say anything as he left the room. It wasn't that he was upset because she had rejected his offer. Unlike Keith, he could live without sex. It was the simple fact that he had no idea what was going on her head as of late. All he could get from her was a numbing pain, something which she had refused to talk about. So he was clueless.
Walking past Keith's room, he shuddered as he heard the noises coming from it. Going to the kitchen, he soon found himself standing outside once more. He felt more at peace beneath the stars than he did in a house. While staring up at the night sky, he just felt that things made more sense.
Mia brushed out her hair then laid back on the bed. Her mind swam with thoughts of the future. Thoughts she didn't like to have. What if they did make it to the end and she wasn't able to keep him despite everything? What if they never actually made it that far? What if he died? What if she died? She curled up into a small ball, pushing the pain down and forcing herself not to think about it. Her mind wandered back to Keith. She worried about him too. About his safety and his future. She wanted the best for him...only he didn't want it for himself. She still hadn't cracked his code yet, though she was working at it.
"Don't you have someone else to harass?" Neron didn't bother to look back as Loki sauntered up to him.
"Oh please, don't be like that. I'm just here to chat."
"Well I'm not in the mood, Loki."
"What's wrong? Don't you love me anymore?" Loki hung onto his arm like a little child.
Neron growled, miasma slipped through his teeth as he grabbed Loki by the throat. There was the cracking sounds of bones as he lifted Loki into the air, his eyes glowing with power. "I don't feel like your games, Loki!" He tossed Loki into a tree, but the immortal easily flipped back while cracking his neck.
"My, my, my...someone is acting more like there old self." He smirked as he appeared beside Neron, this time in Mia's form. "What's wrong, stud? Things at home not working out?" He slid his hand up Neron's leg to his crotch.
Neron shuddered for a moment before he suddenly back handed Loki, sending him back to the ground. "Leave, Loki, or I will kill you myself."
Loki looked hurt. He stood and dusted himself off as he returned to his normal form. "Very well. See if I share my info with you then."
Neron rolled his eyes. "What info could you possibly have that would interest me."
"Oh, nothing. Just a little gossip amongst the gods about your curse and their boredom with the game." Loki smiled a fanged grin as he heard Neron's heartbeat increase.
"What did they say?"
"Oh nothing, really. They just think that the game has lost its fun. In this modern world its hard for their warriors to battle without destroying the world. Then they have to spend most of their time fixing what the battle has done. They're growing quite tired of it. Perhaps they'll figure out a new way to choose gods."
"What would happen to us if they did that? If they abolished the game...."
"That is the million dollar question isn't it?"
Mia walked outside, feeling anger in Neron. She followed the pull until she found him with Loki. How come every time she saw him, she was half naked!?? Looking at Neron then back at the house, she was sure Sophitia had sensed Loki's presence. Mia hugged herself as the wind blew at her wet hair. Just as before, Loki just seemed to be talking with Neron. She stood there, un-alarmed at the moment. If he tried to do anything, all she would really have to do was scream and Keith would send Sophitia.
Loki looked over at Mia and whistled, his face turning into a wolf's head as he howled. He got halfway through it before Neron's fist slammed into his stomach, making him double over. "Ow! What was that for?"
"For being an idiot," Neron hissed. Turning to Mia, he bit his lip before he held out his hand for her to join him.
Mia shook her head. With Loki's psycho master out there somewhere close, she was safer next to the house where she could scream and Sophitia would be there giving her time to dash inside and reach for a gun. She had no idea why Neron seemed to be so cozy with that immortal when his master was bent of kill her.
Loki smirked. "You see. You just can't find good masters these days. Pity."
Neron glared at him. "Leave her out of this, Loki. I'd rather hate to have to make you eat your own tongue."
"You've done that once before, actually. It tasted like chicken." He smirked and stretched. "Well then. I'll leave you two be. No sense in trying to kill you until I find out what the gods are doing. I mean, why waste a perfectly good hunk like you if I get to chill on earth for the next thousand years or so."
Mia listened closely while her eyes scanned the tree line. She could see the sparkle of something shinny in the dark and she knew it was Loki's master. Smirking, she waved lightly. The sparkle lifted lightly as if he was tilting his cane to wave back. It made her shiver. The old man gave her the creeps.
"Toodles kids! Make sure to watch the news in the following days. I think old Zeus is up to something. He's rather fond of his life, and doesn't intend to let the gods change it."
"He won't really have a say in the matter," Neron replied. "The gods do what they wish."
Loki smiled and tipped his newly formed hat. "Well, we'll just have to see now won't we?" With a twirl he took flight, and his master started his trek back to his car. Winking at Mia through the darkness, even though she couldn't see it.
Mia watched as the sparkle suddenly left. In the distance, she could hear a car start. Looking over at Neron her eyes narrowed. "Do you have any idea how much danger you could have put me and yourself into? You don't have your full vision back and with that crazy master of his, I could have been sniped! Stop socializing with the enemy unless it's Sophitia!"
Just as Mia turned around to go back in, Sophitia dropped from the roof of the house in front of her. Mia screamed and fell back. "Damn it!" she yelled. Standing and brushing herself off. She pushed Sophitia making Sophitia's eyes go wide in shock. "Don't scare me like that! I have enough tension!"
"I'm sorry..." Sophitia said. "I didn't mean to startle you. I was on the roof the whole time. Both Loki and Neron knew. You were safe," she assured her.
"Doesn't matter!" Mia yelled and rushed back inside, slamming the door behind her.
