Chapter Five: The Arrival of the Storm

Part B: Snakes

i. Slither…

[9:00 AM]

Seiji fought desperately but silently, in his son's room and all alone, despite his son's presence. An imp suddenly realized, with a startling burst of sentience, that something was attacking it and it could fight back. The imp threw itself at Seiji, squealing and hissing and clawing, and soon the others followed suit.

Took you a damn long time! Seiji thought triumphantly as he went into full-Daemon form and sliced down three of the things, using their energy to create a small Gargoyle to battle the others, which flew upon it.

The energy the creatures' deaths caused went to an energy blast that rattled the room, but killed everything within five feet of him that wasn't natural.

Hikari stirred on the bed, and Seiji felt a twinge of regret for what he was about to do as he unsheathed his dagger from its arm sheath. Slowly, he edged towards his son's bed.

ii. Hiss…

[9:01AM]

The dagger jerked down his wrist, and blood spurted as he muttered the spell, carving runes in the air by mentally directing a Faerie.

Li spero mosca. Li spero salgo. Prendo la vostra anima in mie mani e prego che troverete il vostro senso.

He chanted it again and again, his energy waning with each repetition, until Hikari began to glow and scream. The boy sat up straight, his head back and howling in pain, his eyes closed, still asleep.

Io trasmett voi questo malvagità. Io trasmett voi questo terrore. Li spero mosca. Posso trasmetterlo senza la guida. Li spero mosca. Io trasmett voi questo malvagità.

Seiji felt tears run down his face as he whispered the spell, his own body wracked with pain.

Li spero masca. Li spero salgo.

The screaming reached a crescendo, and suddenly Hikari vanished. Seiji fell to his knees, nearly overwhelmed by the spell. An imp threw itself at him, and` he howled with vicious triumph as he slashed through the room with magic. Light rippled and thunder crackled outside, as he purged the room of the evil energy and sealed it with a Guardian Sliph.

He padded down the halls, his hands clasped together and head bowed while he banished the dark energy.

It was propagating in Jun's room, he noticed as he continued walking down the guest wing.

He kicked down the door to Jun's room to find Jun tied to bed, wide-eyed and attempting to scream. Ebon D'Ebullient crouched over Jun's body, holding a bloody dagger and chanting spells to make Seiji shiver.

"Where would a fifteen year old learn such dark magic?" He demanded harshly, the boy's voice grating against his ears.

Ebon did not cease chanting, as Seiji had hoped he would.

The boy pays now.

He pulled his left arm close to his right elbow, then abruptly swept it away from him. The knife embedded itself in the wall and the dark energy sphere that had been forming over Jun's stomach dissipated.

"That took me all of last night, you ass!" Ebon cried.

"Tell me where you learned that spell," Seiji repeated, his voice a dangerous purr.

"None of your damn business!" The boy replied sulkily.

"I hope you aren't sulky, because if you are, I can always rip the information from your entrails. Grandfather taught me that interesting art and I've always rather thought it useful. Would you like me to give you a demonstration?"

"No one's going to believe a word you say! You destroyed your only evidence!"

"As I am the Fated One, they will take me at my word, you little fool. Or did you not research the Daemon whose home you entered?"

"Son of a bitch! You…"

"Yes, I knew all along, fool. My Sliph is currently offering me various sexual favors to be allowed to purge my home of your evil. I think taking her up on those offers could be rather…entertaining."

The Sliph had indeed gone mad with the need to kill. She described her ache, and just what she would do to kill the boy and cleanse the home. The 'relief' generally tended to be sex, energy, sex, blood, becoming Hikari's bodyguard, and sex.

"Son of a bitch, you wouldn't! I'm only fifteen; too young to die!"

"No one is too young to die. Why, the son of my wife's best friend was killed moments after his birth- and by his own father."

"You, you mean?" Ebon hissed.

"No. Lloyd. My old enemy. Now, boy, where did you learn those spells!"

"I ain't telling!"

~PLEASE! ~ The Sliph begged.

"Sliph, purge the house of the energy. Treat the boy however you like, unless he gives me the information I seek." ~ Do not kill him, Sliph. ~

The Sliph became visible, her silvery body covered by a slip that really didn't cover anything at all. She hissed, and slammed the boy into the wall, tightening her hold on Ebon's neck.

After a few minutes of this, the boy whimpered. "I'll tell you, I'll tell you!"

"I'm not that big a fool, boy. Tell me, and the Sliph will let you go."

"From…SESSHOMARU!"

Seiji pulled back, genuinely surprised. ~ Sliph, send the brat to the Daemon Realm. I've no time to deal with this here. ~

Sliph bowed. ~ Of course, Milord. ~

Slowly, she faded from sight, still holding Ebon D'Ebullient.

Once she had gone, Seiji felt the air hiss through his teeth as he realized the magnitude of his problem. First Lloyd, an old enemy, had returned, and then it had turned out that Lloyd had only been trying to save Rya from Obsidian, a…what the hell ever Obsidian was.

What the hell is going on? He turned around to look at Jun, his visage grim as he surveyed the scene before him. He saw Jun, duck-taped to his bed, covered in sweat and blood, all his energy gone and very likely terrified out of his wits.

Grimly, Seiji undid the tape and healed the boy, his mind whirling with the news of Sesshomaru and his willingness to teach a young human dark spells.

He wouldn't do that, he hates humans too much. Seiji thought, trying to reason with himself. Unless Ebon could prove that he wasn't human. Inuyasha isn't going to like hearing this. He won't like it at all.

=====

And the plot thickens! Yeah, I added Inuyasha. I believe, now, that I have added seven different fandoms to this fiction. You know: two characters from Birdy the Mighty, one from Outlaw Star, one from Tenshi Universe (or whatever they're calling it), one from Legend of Dragoon, three from Ranma 1/2, one from The Sword of Truth, and two (soon to be three) from Inuyasha.

Okay, disclaimers! The Detectives belong to the rightful owners of Birdy the Mighty… Aisha Clan-Clan belongs to the makers of Outlaw Star… Ryoko belongs to the makers of Tenshi Universe (or whatever they call it)… Lloyd belongs to Sony. Ukyo, Kuno and Ryouga belong to the makers of Ranma 1/2… Sliph belongs to Terry Goodkind, and Inuyasha and Sesshomaru belong to the makers of Inuyasha.

Phew, I'm exhausted.
