Disclaimer: This is my first attempt at an Outlaw Star fic. But I only own 1 character. I do not own Gene, Jim of any of the Outlaw Star cast. Now, read and enjoy.
Author’s notes: Hey everyone. I’m so sorry about the very long wait to update this story. But a lot’s happened in my life. I’m an auntie to my beautiful nephew and I’m about to become and auntie again, so all my energy’s been focused on my nephew and will be again on his little brother or sister. But, in all the chaos, I decided to relax and re-write this chapter…and the kick up the bum from Cutilori helped too. So this chapter is dedicated to my nephew Mackenzie, his future sibling and Cutilori. Enjoy.

Gene’s new adventure.
Chapter 10-Help from above.
Jim fired at the many villains that were attacking them. Suzuka deflected some more bullets back and Aisha threw a giant girder at them, but they just kept on coming. “Since when did MacDougall have access to K pirate assassins?” Yelled Asiha.
“It doesn’t matter! All we have to do is defeat them and get to Gene and Teresa!” Yelled Jim.
“That means we get in there and fight them head on!” Yelled Suzuka.
She ran out to face them. Not wanting to feel outdone, Aisha ran out after her. And with a lot of reluctance, Jim followed her.
~~~In the med room.~~~
“Gene, you just don’t learn, do you. You could never beat me. My caster out shines yours, my ship out shines yours and lets just say that when it comes to Teresa, I’m the only man who will ever have her body.” Laughed Ron.
Teresa was beating against the glass, but it was unbreakable. “Gene! Get out of here now! Please!” She cried.
“Sorry Teresa. I can’t do that.” Hissed Gene, standing up.
Only to be met with a punch in the gut. He hunched over but MacDougall grabbed him by the hair and hauled him back to a standing position. Then MacDougall kicked him to the ground and began kicking him all over his body. Teresa was banging against the glass, begging MacDougall to stop. “Don’t worry, I’ll get you soon enough.” He said.
Teresa cringed back, tears pooling in her eyes. Gene tried to get up again but MacDougall kicked him into the wall. Gene’s head collided with it and he fell flat on his face. “Gene!” Cried Teresa.
But she was shocked when the screen came away. She jumped off the bed and went to run over to Gene, but was grabbed around the arm by Ron MacDougall. “I told you I would get to you.” He laughed as Teresa began fighting him.
On the other side of the room, Gene lost consciousness.
~~~Gene’s dream.~~~
“Gene.”
Gene awoke to the soft voice. He opened his eyes and was staring straight at Melfina. “Melfina? What? But how?” He asked.
“You’re on the border line between life and death. I’m here to help you decide what you want.” She answered.
“Decide what I want? But Mel…how did I get here in first place?”
“Ron MacDougall has beaten you to the point of death Gene. His men are attacking Jim, Aisha and Suzuka. And your new friend is being beaten by Ron as well.”
“What! He’s gonna hurt her again! Mel…”
Gene stopped when he realised something. “Mel, you know what I’ve been feeling for her, don’t you.” He said.
“Yes Gene. And I also know the pain you’ve been feeling as well. You feel conflicted over your love for me and these developing feelings for Teresa.”
“It’s not that. I feel guilty.”
“Why?”
“Because I swore I would always be yours. Heart, body and soul. But now…”
“Gene. It’s alright. I know what you’ve been through this last 2 months.”
Gene looked up as Melfina came over to him and brought her hand to rest against cheek. “I don’t expect you to mourn me forever Gene. I hope that one day, you will be able to love someone like you loved me. But right now, you have the choice. You can chose to come to the other side with me. Or you can return to the living world and live out the rest of life.” Said Mel.
Gene closed his eyes and thought. All he’d wanted for the last 2 months was to be with Melfina. But now, he knew he couldn’t leave his friends…or Teresa. Gene knew he couldn’t leave his life behind, not when there was still so much he hadn’t done. “Mel. I love you more than I ever loved anyone…but there’s too much left unfinished in my life. There’s still so much that’s to be done. I can’t join you now. Please understand.” He said.
“I do Gene. And we will see each other again. Goodbye Gene.” She said as she began floating away from him.
“Goodbye Melfina.”

Gene awoke to hear Teresa’s screams and cries as MacDougall beat up on her. Gene grabbed his caster and a number 9 shell, and he staggered to his feet as he loaded it. MacDougall loomed over Teresa. “I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time Teresa.” He said.
“Keep waiting MacDougall.” Hissed Gene, aiming his caster at MacDougall.
MacDougall looked up to see Gene standing there. “Won’t you ever learn Starwind? I’ve told you thousands of times, you can’t beat me!!” Laughed MacDougall, loading his caster.
“Doesn’t mean I won’t try! Take this you asshole!” Yelled Gene, firing the caster.
MacDougall fired his at the same time, and as the caster’s blasts hit each other, Gene ran over, grabbed Teresa and they ran out of the room through the destroyed door. Once the dust from the blast had cleared, MacDougall looked around the destroyed medical room and smirked. “You can’t run from me forever Gene Starwind! Sooner or later, I’ll find you all. I’ll destroy you, your crew, your blasted ship and then I’ll completely destroy Teresa! However I do it Gene, I’ll always win when it comes down to me and you! Till we meet again Starwind!” He yelled.
Ron walked out of the room. Behind a large chunk of destroyed wall, Gene held Teresa as she had her face buried in his neck. Gene looked over the wall to see that MacDougall was gone, and turned to Teresa, who was still shaking. “Damn, that’s a hell of a demon to face.” He thought.
He held her close to him as she shook. “Shh, it’s OK. He’s gone.” Gene whispered.
Teresa’s grip on his waist and arm tightened… “I’ll never be free of him. I wanted to catch him so badly, but now I don’t think I can face him.” She said.
“GENE! TERESA!”
Gene looked up as he saw Jim and Aisha run in, with Suzuka and the authorities close behind. “You guys alright?” Asked Gene as Jim ran up to them.
“We’re fine, we were totally kicking K pirate ass when they were ordered to retreat!” Said Aisha.
“What she means to say is that they were ordered to stop and to not kill us. It seems MacDougall isn’t threw with us yet.” Said Suzuka.
Gene stood up and lifted Teresa into his arms. “Get the doctor, we need to get whatever it was MacDougall implanted in her out now.” Gene said as he carried her out of the room.
