Pet Shop Of Horrors Fan Fiction / Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ ~*~A Dragon's Love~*~ ❯ Chapter 2 (If you'll follow me to the back of the shop...) ( Chapter 2 )
"Please, Mr. Kaiba," spoke D, "Have a seat. "May I offer you a cup of tea while we discuss the matter at hand?"
Seto sat down on the loveseat while D took a seat in a chair, though not before shooing off a previously-sleeping-and-now-extremely-annoyed T-chan.
T-chan then sneaked off, but not before giving D a rather peeved death-glare.
"That would be great, thanks." replied Seto "And please, D, we're long-time acquaintances; I could even consider you one of my close friends…"
"I am honored that you would consider me something as intimate as that, Mr. Kaiba…" responded D, pouring green tea into Seto's teacup.
"D. Please, call me by my given name. Seto." Asked Seto, a slight edge to his voice.
On normal circumstances, D would be slightly offended by such a tone in a person's voice.
But, understanding how Seto was forced to handle his job, D was able to grasp the reasoning behind it and knew that it was Seto's usual way of reacting when he wanted to have the final say.
"Alright, alright…" grumbled D, a slight tone of annoyance in his voice, his bottom lip curled with a pout.
D scooped a few spoons of sugar into his tea and gave it a quick stir before turning to Seto.
"Anyways, how may I be of service to you… Seto?" a questioning pitch in his voice, hoping that he addressed Seto in the preferred manner.
"Well," Seto started, a slight sigh in his voice, "Mokuba officially owns the happiest dolphin in all of Tokyo…"
"Seto, I can almost assure you that Mokuba owns the only dolphin in Downtown Tokyo… outside of the Zoo, that is." Replied D, a smile in his voice.
" Yes…" mused Seto, "He and Noa have really developed a close relationship, even over such a short period of time…"
"But, of course, their youth has made things rather easy for them to become so close." Responded D.
"Exactly." replied Seto, taking a sip of tea.
"But I am sensing that discussing Noa and Mokuba's friendship wasn't your first priority; obviously it was something more important, otherwise you would have reached me by telephone…" stated D, trailing off thee question to leave room for a more through answer.
"I knew that it wouldn't take long for you to catch on to my ulterior motive…" mused Seto.
"Would you care to elaborate?" asked D. Seto took a sip from his teacup.
"…D, You know as well as anyone that in my line of work, it is ten times easier to make enemies than it is to make friends, even acquaintances. And it is even harder to find someone close enough to you to call your own…" explained Seto.
"You mean, a loved one?" asked D.
"Correct. D, I know it seems like an unusual request… But, I'd like to find someone to keep me company… I wouldn't want to take time away from Mokuba and Noa, because they have such a strong bond… And I also realize that you have a shop to run; and although I enjoy these occasional talks that we have…" enlightened Seto.
"It is far too difficult to arrange them as often as we both would like. I understand completely." finished D.
"I guess my final question is… Do you have a pet that you think would be suitable for me?" asked Seto, setting down his empty teacup.
D stood up. "I'm positive that there is someone here who can't wait to meet you, Seto, although they are much too exotic to be displayed in the front of the store; if you would please follow me to the back of the shop…"
