***Chapter 2***

A few hours have passed since Leonona's birth the animals are overjoyed to have a new addition to the petshop. As for Leon and D they are also very happy especially D. It is now night time in Chinatown the shop is closed and everyone is sleeping soundly.

"Mmm, D Leonona's awake." Leon said tiredly shaking D. "Would you like me to get her?" D asked getting up out of bed. "I got her last time." Leon said as D stood up and walked over to the small crib that had a thin veil surrounding it. D gently pulled the veil back and gently picking Leonona up cradled her in his arms.

"You make a great father you know that." Leon said. "Mother actually." D said walking back towards the bed and sitting back down began to gently rock Leonona. "I guess that would make sense." Leon said. "And you make a great father my dear Leon." D said rocking Leonona until her cries became whimpers. "She sure calmed down fast." Leon said looking over D's shoulder at Leonona. "She's content now." D said.

"Guess so." Leon said. "Hmm." D said looking at the door. "D what is it, what's wrong?" Leon asked watching as D brought Leonona to his chest in a protective manner. "Someone's out there." D said his eyes narrowing. "Maybe it's Victoria." Leon said as the door was suddenly blown away and D turned away to protect Leonona.

"Who are you?" Leon asked. "No one you need concern yourself with I came for the baby." The voice belonged to a young man of twenty with long black hair and green eyes. "Leonona shhh it's okay baby." D cooed. "What do you want with my baby?" D asked. "I want her power." The man said. "She's a baby she doesn't have any power." Leon said as the man walked closer to the three. "Get away from them." Victoria said tackling the man Aniou and White Fang not to far behind. "D get out of here!" Victoria yelled. "What about you?" D asked. "No time for that come on." Leon said grabbing D and running towards the window jumped through with D close behind. "Come on we have to get out of here." Leon said grabbing D and running. "Leon where are we going?" Leon asked running with Leon holding on tight to Leonona. "Come on this way." Leon said as D followed him through a run down building as it started to rain.

"Leon it's starting to rain." D said. "I know just keep running." Leon said as the two ran across a street and down to the police station. "Leon why are we coming here?" D asked walking into the station with Leon. "Because my place is a dump and this is the nearest place from the petshop." Leon said going over to a closet and pulling out a few towels. "She okay?" Leon asked handing D a towel. "She's alright just a little scared." D said fixing the blanket she was wrapped in. "Who was that?" Leon asked sitting down in a chair. "I do not know Leon." D said shifting Leonona so that she lay in his arms.

"Who's there." The chief said pointing the gun towards the two men. "Easy chief it's just us." Leon said as the chief put down his gun. "What are you two doing here, and who's the kid?" Jill asked. "Looking for a place to hide." Leon said.

"From what?" Jill asked. "Some guy broke into the petshop and wanted D and the kid." Leon said. "So who's the cutie?" Jill asked walking over to D and looking at Leonona. "My daughter." D said as Jill gave him a weird look. "You have a girlfriend?" Jill asked. "I had a girlfriend, but as you can see she left this little one in my care." D said.

"So what's her name?" Jill asked. "Leonona." D said. "Don't think I've heard of that one before." Jill said. "I think it suits her." D said tickling Leonona who giggled and grabbed D's finger. "You want to play?" D asked watching Leonona make her baby noises. "Playful little brat isn't she?" Leon asked. "She is not a brat." D said looking angrily at Leon. "I hope Victoria is alright I'm worried." D said sadly lowering his head.

"Don't worry D I'm sure she's alright she's a tough girl." Leon said getting up out of the chair he was sitting in and walking over to D put a hand on his shoulder. "I hope so." D said as thunder sounded outside and lightning flashed as the power went out. "Great what else could go wrong?" Leon asked hearing Jill scream as a figure jumped through the door. "Hold it right there." The chief said. "D." The voice said in a ghost like voice. "Detective don't shoot." D said holding his hand up. "Who are you?" D asked as the figure pulled back it's white hair to reveal a set of sky blue eyes. "Victoria." D said running to the girl. Leave her alone. Aniou said jumping in front of Victoria. "Aniou what is it, what is wrong?" D asked. Leave my child be. Aniou said growling but stopped as soon a Victoria put a hand on her head. "Don't worry D would never harm me, Victoria said her voice returning to normal as the lights came back on.

"Gods." Jill said covering her mouth looking at the girl. "Victoria your hurt." D said. "Not really the guy that tried to take Leonona is dead now most of this blood is his we had a nice time with him didn't we?" Victoria asked looking at her wolves.

Human blood is sweet especially when the adrenaline is rushing through their bodies. White Fang said snapping his jaws. "You know we're going to have to arrest you for murder now right?" The chief asked. "Detective please no Victoria was only trying to protect us had she not been there Leon and I would be dead and Leonona would be with that awful man." D said. "Can't arrest me for protecting a Detective." Victoria said.

"She's got a point chief." Jill said. "I'll let you off this time since you saved Leon's butt." The chief said. "Victoria how badly are you hurt?" D asked shifting Leonona in his arms. "Just a few scrapes. Where's your bathroom?" Victoria asked shifting her back pack on her shoulder. "Jill show her where the bathroom is." Leon said.

"This way." Jill said showing Victoria to the bathroom. "Thank you angel Jill." Victoria said walking into the bathroom and a while later coming back out wearing a silk blue long sleeved blouse and a silk black skirt that reached to her ankles. "You really gotta tell me where you get your clothes." Jill said. "Perhaps later." Victoria said walking back to the group that was gathered at the front of the station. "Count D I'm back." Victoria said walking up to D. "You look beautiful." Count D said and Leonona made her happy noises. "You think so to Leonona, Count please can I hold her?" Victoria asked.

"You'll be careful with Leonona won't you?" D asked. "Of course Count." Victoria said. "Alright you can hold her." D said as Victoria took Leonona from her mommy's arms and layed her in her arms. "She's so pretty you should have called her Serenity instead." Victoria said. "I thought you didn't like that name." D said. "I don't." Victoria said finding a chair and sitting down with Leonona in her arms began to sing to her. "Little one don't you cry your tears are like the rain to me falling endlessly. Little one don't you cry your like the gentle waves of the sea flowing high into the sky. Leonona my little one you'll be really great someday flying high into the sky and then back to the ground again. Sweet baby don't you cry your cries are like the raging sea angry as the darkened sky. Sweet Leonona don't you cry it breaks my heart to see you sad. Dear Leonona little one dream your own sweet dreams." Victoria sang as Leonona fell asleep in her arms. "Your voice is soothing." Jill said. "Thank you." Victoria said.

"Man I wish it would stop raining." Leon complained. "Oh stop complaining a little rain is good every now and then." Victoria said. "I agree." D said taking Leonona from Victoria and placing her in his arms. "She looks like you D." Jill said.

"I know." D said. "Come on I've had enough of this place to last me a life time." Victoria said walking to the door. "Victoria we can't go back to the petshop and I do not think I want to see how Leon's house looks." D said. "Who said we were going to those places?" Victoria asked walking out the door with Leon and D close behind.

"So where are we going?" Leon asked. "You'll see." Victoria said as Leon came up behind her and grabbed her arm. "None of this you'll see where are we going?" Leon asked. "My someone's got a short temper today, but if you really must know." Victoria said. "Tell me, where are we going?" Leon asked angrily. "Let go of me and I'll tell you." Victoria said. Leon let out a low growl before letting Victoria go and the three continued on through a few more streets and through a park before they came to a long and winding road. "This way and watch your step stray's tend to want to sleep out here at night." Victoria said and continued walking until she got a fairly large house.

"So where are we?" Leon asked. "My place I managed to save up enough money to buy this house." Victoria said. "But what about my animals?" D asked. "Don't worry D I teleported them here before I left the petshop and Leonona's things are here to. I even started to burn some new incense so it feels like home." Victoria said opening the door to her house. "Come on in my living room is this way." Victoria said showing her guests to her living room. When the three stepped into the living room D's eyes widened at who was sitting on Victoria's couch.
