Your Heart's Desire

Part 6
Leon woke up to a loud and persistent banging that had to be coming from his front door. He looked over at the clock on the bedside table with only managing to open one eye. It was only eight in the morning, what person in their right mind would come by his apartment this early? He was tempted to roll over and go back to sleep but the noise was too much for him to block out. "Give me a minute would ya?" he shouted out. Then he slowly stood up and stretched.
As he slipped on boxers, he began to seriously questioning who would be at his door. He felt his pace quicken with the increase in curiosity. He practically ran to the door and when he opened it to see D, he was to say the least, a little surprised. "What are you doing here?" he asked.
"I suppose that's a reasonable question," D replied. "However, would it be possible for me to come inside to answer?" He did not say anything but stepped back so D could enter his apartment. As he walked in he commented, "I'm amazed at how clean and free of posters your apartment is."
"Well, you can't live like a horny college student forever," he replied with a sigh. Then he gave a small nervous laugh and continued, "Also, preparing to go to jail can definitely dampen a man's libido."
"Why are you going to jail?" D asked.
"I guess I did not get a chance last night to tell you but when I said that Jill was attacked, I forgot to mention that she fingered me as her attacker." He could sense the anger creeping into his tone. He saw D shrink back a little and looked away. None of this was really D's fault so he had no reason to be acting so pissed. "I'm sorry," he said softly. "I have not right to rant and rave at you, I just don't know what to do anymore." He collapsed onto the couch and put his head in his hands. A moment later D sat down next to him and allowed his hand to pet the top Leon's head gently.
"You have nothing to worry about Detective," D said in a calm and soothing voice. "That is actually what I came here to tell you. I discussed the whole situation with my grandfather and he revealed that when you killed Vale, you destroyed all the illusions he created."
"Are you saying Jill won't remember me as her attacker?" Leon asked as he raised his head and looked at D.
"Yes, that is what I am saying. So, Detective it seems you can put the posters back up and stop worrying about jail."
"As relieved as I am, there is still the matter of your grandfather wanting me dead. Which I also am curious about considering I have no idea what I did to piss him off that much."
Now it was D's turn to look away. "It's a long and somewhat complicated story," he explained.
"Well, not to sound too demanding but as the person he tried to kill, don't you think I deserve some explanation; even if it is the abridged version."
D smiled slightly. Damn, that Detective was going to have to stop making good points. He was not used to it. "You are right, though I will warn you some of it may sound strange."
It was then that Leon really laughed. "After everything I have seen and experienced within the past few years because of you, I think I am somewhat equipped to handle your story." D laughed lightly as well. It was amazing how much more accepting of the supernatural Leon was now versus when the two had first met.
"All right, the first thing you should know is that my grandfather and I are not human, we are a species known as kami. We are immortal gods of flora and faune." He stopped and allowed Leon to have an outrageous reaction, but it never came. "You are not surprised?" he asked.
"Not really," he replied. "I have kinda figured you weren't human for a while now. I just never knew for sure."
"Well, anyway, my grandfather was worried that with the amount of time you were spending at the pet shop that I might be romantically interested in you. I told him that I could take care of myself but apparently he did not trust my self-control."
"You mean he killed me because he thought you and I had something going on?" Leon exclaimed. "The only interaction between us that would support that belief is how you acted a few weeks ago when I came to talk to you." D just looked at him in surprise. "Why do you look confused, I was the one that was pretty damn confused about everything after that."
"That must have been what my grandfather was talking about," D mused to himself. "He told me that he had an awkward encounter with him while he was impersonating me. What exactly happened?" Leon could not help the blush that crept onto his face.
"Well, it was not really that big a deal, it was just that you kind of flirted with me," he replied. He saw D smile and he commented, "Well, you flirted more than you usually do."
"I get the feeling Detective that you are holding back but I'll let it go . . . for now," D responded. "I have one question, did he kiss you?"
"No, of course not," Leon exclaimed. "He was apparently just trying to freak me out. Besides even if he did, I'm not entirely sure I would want to admit that I had been kissed by your grandfather."
"Maybe I should rectify that egregious error," D said to bait him. When Leon turned to face with him a response he leaned forward and joined their lips. Leon was shocked and he remained that way for a few minutes, he could not move or think. He knew he needed to do something but he was stunned. Ds lips continued to move over his for a few more minutes, and then he pulled back. "I'm sorry," he apologized in an almost breathless voice. "I thought that you would be interested in me too." Then he started to stand up.
Leon reached out and gently grabbed D's arm. "No, I'm sorry. I am just confused about this." Then he pulled D back towards him, the problem was D was not expecting it so he fell into Leon's lap. They looked at each other in surprise and then Leon smiled and kissed him. This kiss was very different from the one before. Where there had been awkwardness and tension, there was now just heat and passion. D parted his lips and Leon used the opportunity to slip his tongue in and duel it with his. His sense and reflexes kicked in at that point and his arms reached around D's waist to bring him in closer which caused his legs to slowly spread apart and the skirt flap to move up his hips. D broke the kiss and leaned away from him slightly.
"You do realize that I have a man's genitalia Detective?" he asked cautiously.
"Yeah," Leon replied. "But sometime within the past few seconds I stopped caring. Now kiss me again." D smiled and proceeded to do just that. As their lips played over each other's again, they could feel their bodies heating up. Leon moved his hands from where they rested on D's hips up to the closures on D's confining little outfit. He managed to get one or two of them undone before D noticed what he was doing and pushed his hands away. "What's wrong?" Leon asked.
"It might surprise you, but I am not exactly all that interested in making love on your couch," he commented.
"Damn, I thought you were so into me that you would do it anywhere I wanted to, even on the floor." Then he opened the last little closures and pulled open the chenogasm and was very happy to see that D's torso was naked underneath. D was surprised by it and tried to hold the garment closed. In response, Leon picked him up and carried him into his bedroom. D was amazed by the Detective's behavior. He had always believed that even if he admitted his feelings, he would be repulsed by them and avoid contact with D. Somehow instead Leon had accepted his feelings for D and was wasting no time in getting physical.
D himself could not ever remember feeling like this before. Leon's body was not overly muscled but it was pretty tight and feeling the warmth of it that was seeping through his clothes. He was thankful that Leon was only wearing a small pair of boxers because this way he could see his body and admire it. However, he did not realize that he was staring and was surprised when Leon commented, "Do you like what you see?"
He blushed but smiled at the same time. "Actually, I do," he replied in a voice that became very husky. Leon put him down on the bed and took advantage of D's surprise to slip the chenogasm from his body. He pushed D gently onto his back and began to kiss him again, while also allowing his hand to smooth over his chest. His skin was like warm satin and the thought of feeling even more of it was driving him crazy. It was also making him extremely hard.
As they lay there with Leon kissing and touching him, D began to do some exploring of his own with his hands, running them up and down Leon's back. Then he arched his back which caused his hips to rise up and brush against Leon's. His eyes opened wide as he felt the very evident need that pressed against his thigh, when their bodies touched. "Are you surprised?" Leon asked.
"I guess I should not be surprised after everything else but I was."
"How do you feel now?" He asked as his lips made their way down his beck to leave hot and lingering kisses that sent shivers down his back.
"I just want you inside me," he admitted breathlessly.
"That's just what I wanted to hear," Leon replied. He stood up and slipped his boxers off. Then he reached out to slip off D's pants and underwear.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" D asked again. "I will understand if you want to back out."
"Will you quit trying to make me think about this. All I want to think about is being with you completely naked. Then he yanked the clothing down and let his eyes roam over D's body. His body was overcome with sensations and he could not wait any longer. He joined their lips again and reached into the bedside table where he kept a tube of lubricant, along with the last remaining smut magazine in the house. He roughly pushed the magazine aside and flicked open the cap on the tube. D laid back and allowed himself to get swept up in desire. He barely felt Leon's finger applying the lubricant and then gently pushing inside.
Leon was waiting for the feeling of weirdness to set in and make him reconsider what he was doing but it did not come. He added a second finger and gently began to thrust in and out. He was excited when he heard D let out a responsive moan. He continued his ministrations wanting nothing more than to hear him moan.
After a few minutes, He removed his fingers and gently began to place himself inside D's warm and tight body. The feeling was beyond anything he had ever felt before or anything he could describe. D moaned again and Leon felt kind of smug considering it was very rare that he had ever seen more than an arrogant smirk out the aloof pet shop owner. He pushed it in harder and faster wanting more and more response. D's heavy breathing, moans, and pants were driving him crazy.
"Oh my god D, I have never felt this good in my life."
"Detective,. . . . . Detective. . . . . LEON!" Then he came, causing his inner muscles to clench and push Leon over the edge. Leon could barely breathe as he had the most intense orgasm of his life. As he finished his body felt heavy and he gently pulled out to lay beside D on the sheets. D felt himself overcome with the same feeling of heaviness and sleepiness. He curled up against the warmth of Leon's body as he pulled the covers over them. Within seconds they had both fallen asleep.
No one was more surprised than D that he did not awake until the next morning. When he looked at the bed beside him, he saw that Leon was gone. He searched the room with eyes and did not see him. The only thing that he noticed was that his clothes had been folded neatly and placed on a chair in the corner of the room. He passed over them and reached for the robe he saw draped across the foot of the bed.
He delighted in the fact that it smelled of Leon's cologne and his own personal scent that made him unique. Walking out of the bedroom he saw Leon sitting in his kitchen slowly sipping a cup of coffee. "Good Morning, Detective," D said cheerfully.
"We had sex last night D, I think you can call me Leon now," he replied softly. Then he raised his eyes to look at him, smiling at the image of D in his robe. Then as if he realized some very serious fact, he stopped smiling and looked down at his coffee again. The entire situation was making D feel a bit nervous. He had no idea what the hell was bothering Leon and his curiosity was growing by the second.
"Should I be worried by the way you are acting?" D asked finally.
Leon sighed and said, "I am not sure quite how to tell you this but I don't think we should be together."
"How can you say that after all the times you reassured me last night?" D replied in surprise. "Do you actually intend to tell me now after we had sex that you are not interested in me and it was all a big mistake?"
"That's not what I `m saying," Leon snapped. "Look, I know you're sexy and god damn seeing you in that tobe is affecting me very strongly but that is not what started to bother me when I woke up this morning." D sat down at the table across from him and waited for him to continue. "When I woke up this morning I started reflecting on everything and I realized how lucky I was that all of this turned out okay. The problem is that I am a cop and the whole point of my being a cop is to help people and you sell pets that kill people. I know that they violate your contracts but that is beside the point. I don't think I could live with being in a relationship with a murderer. No matter what the circumstances. I am sorry but it is just how I feel." Then he stood up and walked over to the sink. He turned the cold water tap and then splashed some of the water onto his face.
D sat there and watched him while considering everything he had just said. Leon's values had always been something that intrigued him. To be honest, he had found those values very attractive. He would probably have been worried about the character of a Detective that had no problems with his profession. In that case none of this should surprise him but it did. After last night, as foolish as it may have been, he had believed that Leon was truly ready to be with him. It seems he was wrong again. "That's fine," He said softly. "I will simply get dressed and be on my way." Then he got up from the table and walked back into the bedroom.
When he emerged a few minutes later, Leon was gone but there was a twenty dollar bill on the countertop along with a note telling him it was for a cab ride home. He left it there and proceeded out of the apartment.
While D was riding in a cab back to Chinatown, Leon was heading down a hospital hallway towards Jill's room. In his hand was a small bouquet of wildflowers. He hoped seeing Jill would make him feel better, but he was not entirely anything could, considering how horrible he had felt since talking to D just about an hour ago. He entered her room and was glad to see her sitting up in bed awake.
"How are you feeling?" Leon asked.
"Much better since they finished patching my up and removed the steady dose of morphine from my bloodstream, Besides, you brought me flowers so how can I feel bad," she replied with a laugh. "I want to apologize for fingering you as my attacker. The doctor said that it must have been caused by the heavy dose of morphine they were giving me for pain."
"I understand," Leon said softly. Then he reached out and held her hand. " I just cannot wait for you to get out of this place and back on duty. There is no one left to pick on me without you around."
"Oh really?" she asked. "What about D? I am sure that he is still nagging you over your bad manners and host of other faults." Leon's smile disappeared and was replaced by a look of sadness. He turned away hoping that she would not see it and thankfully if she did, she did not say anything.
"Well, not to rush off," Leon said softly. "But, I think I should go into the station and talk to the Chief."\
As he turned to walk out, Jill called "Good Luck."
Instead of going to the station, he decided to go home and get some rest. He also needed to get himself together before he went back to work. He had made decisions and he needed to stick to them, including the one about D. This time he would not be making any excuses.
. . . .
It took about a week for him to be ready to go back to work. He had a meeting with the Chief and an agent from Internal Affairs. It had been an hour that had alternated in between scolding for the reckless behavior of his past and apologies for their accusations against him. After it was over he had felt more like returning home for another nap instead of going back to work. Unfortunately, if he wanted to keep his job he needed to get back up to date on the cases and start being a real detective again.
Every day became more and more boring than the one before it. He did not want to admit it but he could not stop thinking about D and how much he missed him. He missed him for his humor, his kisses, and most of all the feeling of making love to him. He considered himself to a man of a decently strong will but he was losing his ability to resist that particular temptation.
He was able to resist for about another three weeks until he heard another Detective talking about another death that had been linked to the pet shop. Even though he knew it was none of his business and the Chief would kill him if he found out, he went against his better judgment and decided to stop by the shop.
As he parked his car in front of the shop, he saw that there was a moving van outside and tons of boxes and cages along the sidewalk. He saw D talking to a man dressed in a blue uniform, most likely from the moving company. He got out of the car and approached them.
"Are you planning on skipping town?" Leon asked with a hint of amusement in his voice.
"Actually, my grandfather and I are planning to relocate. The shop has seemed to draw too much attention."
"You're leaving?" Leon asked.
"Yes Detective," he replied. "Besides I would have thought you would not be affected by that little fact considering our last conversation. Which bring me to ask why you are here now?"
"I came to tell you what an idiot I am, just in case you did not already know and to tell you that I changed my mind and I want to be with you. I have not been able to stop thinking about you and I know it is not just because the sex was great, which it was."
"You have horrible timing Detective," D stated. "I am leaving town in the morning."
"Come live with me," Leon suggested. "I know that my apartment is not exactly your dream home but I'll give you free reign. As long as you clean up after them you can have as many pets and plants as you want."
"You do not really mean that," D protested. Then he turned away and walked back into the pet shop.
Leon followed and assured him. "Yes, I do mean that. I really have given this a lot of thought. I need you." It was hearing those words that caused D to stop and face him. "You know you told me once that you could give me, `Your Heart's Desire,' are you still willing to do that for me? Because if you are I think you know what I want."
D smiled at him and walked towards him. "I am not going to be as easy to live with as you seem to think, Detective." Then he wrapped his arms around Leon's neck bringing their bodies closer together.
"Did I ever say anything to you about it being easy?" Leon asked with a smile. "I will probably have pulled out all my hair within a year." Then he lowered his head and kissed him with all the passion that had been building for the past month. "I think it'll be worth it though.
