Chapter 7- NO WAY!!

A couple of months passed again with nothing much happening. Renkotsu was now close to time to give birth and he was miserable. He could not see his feet and his back was killing him. Just for precautions, Suikotsu put him on bed rest.

Renkotsu sighed as he looked at his papers that we strown all over his bed. He picked up the brush and began working on some plans and sketches.

Just then he heard a knock at the door. “Come in!”

“Are you doing ok Aniki?”

Renkotsu sighed. It was just Mukotsu bringing him some lemon tea, rice, and sweet rolls.

“Yeah I am ok…miserable but still ok netherless..um..is it possible for me to make myself give birth?”

Mukotsu chuckled.”Not unless it s humanly possible..”

Renkotsu chuckled at that remark and sipped some of the tea.

“This is good Mukotsu..thanks…”

“Don't mention it…I will tell Suikotsu that you are ready for him to come in and check you….”

“Okay..” Renkotsu said as Mukotsu walked out of the room and closed the door.

Renkotsu sighed as he shifted in bed. He then placed his hand on his stomach and smiled. “You know little one…your father and I are really excited about you coming into the world…we even made a crib for you out of wooden oak..”

Renkotsu's thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door. “Aniki? Are you in there?”

It was Suikotsu for his weekly checkup.

“Yeah…come on in Suikotsu..”

Suikotsu walked into the room and closed the door behind him. “How are you today?”

“I am okay I guess..I can tell that the baby is dropping in my pelvis now..”

Suikotsu smiled as he went to Renkotsu and felt his pregnant stomach. “I can tell it too..the head is low now…that means you should be giving birth any day now..”

“How big is the baby right now? Could you give me an estimate…”

Suikotsu shook his head. “ I could not say but I can tell you one thing though. I have delivered my share of babies and this has to be the biggest baby that I have ever seen..”

“Well…Ginkotsu said that his mom told him he was really big when he was born…”

Suikotsu chuckled. “Either that or you are having twins..”

Renkotsu gave him a “Go to hell” look. Suikotsu gulped. He did not want to face the wrath of Renkotsu even if he was pregnant.

“I hope that you are SO wrong on that…” Renkotsu huffed.

Suikotsu sighed as he got the heart monitor out of his bag. He placed some gel on Renkotsu's stomach and moved the probe around.

“Hmm..the baby's heart rate is good..its 148 beats a minute…..strong baby it looks like….this baby is indeed healthy…I am thinking that you might be having a boy Renkotus b/c of it being so large and everything…”

Renkotsu sighed a HUGE sigh of relief. “At least the baby is healthy..that is all that matters to me right now…”

“So umm..Suikotsu ..where is Ginkotsu at? I thought that he might want to know how his child is doing?”

Suikotsu said,” He is with Amadala and Mukotsu picking herbs…..we are running low on them and we need them to make our teas and medicines….”

“Alright….if its for you then I guess I forgive him just this once…”

“Good….”

Just then there was knock at the door. “Hey guys!”

It was Bankotsu coming in with what looked like a letter.

“Hey Bankotsu..what is with the letter?” Suikotsu questioned.

“Oh this…I want Renkotsu to read it and write a letter for us saying that we accept this mission….”

Renkotsu's eyes lit up. “Mission?” He said as he tried to stay as calm as possible.

Bankotsu nodded and handed Renkotsu the letter. Renkotsu cleared his throat and began to read the letter outloud to Suikotsu.

“Lord Lilata and Lady Lilata hereby request you to come to the northern provinces to help them relinguish a demon that preys on people and drinks the blood out of them..your mission is to rid the province of this demon and your reward shall hereby be heavy indeed……I like this Bankotsu…I will get started on the letter right away..”

“So when do we leave Bankotsu?” Suikotsu asked as he put his items away.

“We leave first thing in the morning so tell the others to gather their things ….I will leave Ayane at Kaede's for her to look after Ayana…Renkotsu can stay there too if he wants to…”

“Actually Oo-Aniki..I was wondering if I uh….could come with you guys?”

Bankotsu turned ghost white. “No way…NO WAY!!! You are too close to time to give birth!! ITS TOO DANGEROUS!!”

Suikotsu sighed. “Bankotsu is right Ren…you need to stay here and rest….we will be back..”

Renkotsu sulked. “Come on you guys!!! I will not fight any demons!! I can rest in the quarters that the Lord and Lady set us up in!!”

“Renkotsu…its too dangerous….” Bankotsu said.

“Actually Aniki..maybe we should let him come along…” Suikotsu said.

“WTF!?!??! Have you lost your mind Suikotsu!?!?!?!?!”

“Well…I am going to be needed when he gives birth…..so if he does go into labor..at least we will be somewhere safe and warm…”

Bankotsu thought about it for a minute and finally sighed. He was obviously outnumbered.

“Okay Renkotsu..you can come along…just be careful…”
Renkotsu nodded. “ I will Oo-Aniki and thanks”

Bankotsu huffed. “Whatever…”

Just then Bankotsu looked up to see that Mukotsu, Ginkotsu, and Amadala had returned with the items.

“Hi guys!! Did you get everything?” Suikotsu said as he looked through the bags.

“I think so…everything that was on the list and Mukotsu's list as well..” Amadala said as Mukotsu gave the herbs to Suikotsu and took some to his room as well.

“Oh by the way guys…we have a new mission..we leave tomorrow morning so pack your things tonight and dress warmly….its snowing heavy outside and its cold…” Bankotsu said in his leader voice.

“What about Ayana and Renkotsu? Where are they going to stay?” Ginkotsu asked all worried like. He was especially worried about where Renkotsu was going to stay.

“Well..Ayana is going to stay with Kaede..I talked to her and she said that is fine….and Renkotsu..is well…coming with us..” Bankotsu said as he quickly said the last part.

“WTF!?!?!?! Bankotsu! Renkotsu is due almost any day now!! WHY ARE YOU LETTING HIM GO!?!??!” Amadala shouted.

Bankotsu sweatdropped. “Well…Suikotsu wants him to be close to us when he gives birth and besides..he is not going to fight with us..he is going to stay put at where we stay at…”

“ Well ok…at least he will be with us when he gives birth…” Ginkotsu said with a sigh of relief.

“Yep…now rest up everyone! We have a big day tomorrow….” Bankotsu said while grinning.

The next morning was clearer than the day before. It was still snowing but not as bad as it was. The Shichinintai gathered what they needed and dropped Ayana off at Kaede's.

Bankotsu was giving directions to Kaede about how to handle Ayana. “Now she does get cranky when she wakes up so hold her nice and tight….she eats every 4-6 hours depending on how she feels…umm..”

Kaede chuckled. “Ban-san…I think ye worry too much about her…she be fine with me…”

Bankotsu nodded. “Take good care of her..”

“I will ..just take care of that pregnant Renkotsu in return..me would love to see the child…”
Renkotsu blushed as he was sitting on Ginger. The group would not let him walk so Amadala offered to take Ginger and let him ride her. He agreed to that with no trouble…mostly b/c his feet were killing him anyways…

“Take care!! GOOD LUCK!!” Kaede shouted to the group.

“Bye Kaede!!” Amadala said as she led Ginger in the front beside Bankotsu and Jakotsu.

Renkotsu sighed as he stroked his stomach. “I hope that everything will be okay…”
