ÿþ"How dare you fail me! I'll show you how I treat the Pokemon that fail me in a battle!" The trainer kicked his Charmander across the room, bouncing it off a wall. He pulled out a whip and beat it hard across the back and face, drawing much blood and causing the young female much pain. "Stupidity in battle brings this on yourself... No food for a week... If you want water, you're gonna have to find it yourself, cause failures get nothing from me! Now get out of my sight!" He stormed away, grumbling about her failure.

"Yes master... I love you too master..." She sighed and layed down in a dark corner. From the window, a pair of eyes gazed into the dark room, looking over the young Charmander. He smiled softly before he climbed out of the room and ran out into the city. He scrambled through the streets, into an old abandoned building. The building was dark and dank, smelling of rotting boxes and souring food. The building had been condemned years ago, but the crew had always called it home.

A voice called out from the shadows of the old warehouse, soft and soothing. "So, did you see her?" The elder of the group smirked a bit, searching the Machop's mind as he asked the question. "Undoubtably you did... Quite an opinion of her too huh?"

The Machop blushed a bit at the comment, but nodded. "The trainer's abusing her badly though... We need to get her out of there and... She's my replacement for when I leave... You said I could go one month after finding a replacement, right?"

Another Pokemon, a female Squirtle, stepped forth from the shadows. "You never got over it did you, Hariel... When she..."

Hariel cut in, harshly, "When she took a 300-foot swan dive onto jagged rocks off of a cliff and left us all alone? Should I get over it? Hell no! You weren't there, you didn't see her rended body dashed across rocks, blood splattered on the rocks and cliff walls and pooling in the ocean! I never will get over that... I loved Kana... and she did that to us. In one month I'll have a replacement trained up for you, and I can go join her in hell! The tournament's in exactly seven days, and one month later, I'm out of here for good. Be ready, we get one shot at this one boys and girls..." Hariel started off for the door when another Pokemon addressed him from the shadows.

"Who are you callin' a boy, Hariel... You're the youngest of us all!" a young Bagon retorted. He stood in the Machop's way and popped his neck. Hariel said nothing, but swiftly landed a Brick Break across the Bagon's jaw, knocking it to the ground in front of the Squirtle.

"I'm not letting anyone stand in my way of this... Not even you, Koga! You and I may have been raised as brothers, but just consider me dead already... I can wait one month and be gone from all of your sights for good! My place in hell is already prepared right beside her..." Hariel walked out of the room after that, and Koga struggled to get up off the ground.

"Jet, we can't let him kill himself like that... We have to find something to keep him with us. There has to be a way!" Koga sighed as he spoke, the Squirtle tending his wounds. "Aqua, have you got any ideas? I'm stumped..."

"Heh, not a surprise, cause your head is a lump of rock! But I got no clue either... Any ideas Jet?" Aqua said softly. The Alakazam just smiled at them and laughed some.

"Give it time, my friends... My plan is already set in motion, and she will be our reason for him to live... Just give my plan some time..." Alakazam stepped back into the shadows, disappearing once more. "We've got seven days... Let's get to work!"

"Thank you for my punishment master... I'll take it like you mean it... In love..." The young Charmander moped around the dark room. As she turned to go back to her corner, she saw a sack full of food and a bucket of water in her room. Her eyes teared up, seeing that her master gave her food and water. She knew he must have loved her after all to do this for her. Hariel watched her from outside as he started to skulk off.

"If you only knew..."
