Premonitions Chapter 4

Disclaimer: Come on, do I really have to go through this again? I own nothing. End of disclaimer.
Author's Notes: Sappiness warning, really nothing else. Oh, and I got a review for one of the fics in my set mentioning how young Misty is, so I'll make her sixteen in my fics.

"That's really sweet. I love you." She kissed him softly.
"I love you, too."

Misty remained sitting with James for a few hours, just chatting about pokemon, bottle caps, and the like. She had always dreamed of love being like this; so simple yet so deep. She felt a connection to James that she'd never had before with anyone else. And she didn't feel trapped or constrained at all. Quite the opposite, in fact, she had never felt so free.
Slowly, James leaned in and kissed her. It wasn't one of the quick, short kisses they had shared recently, but rather a slow, deep, lingering kiss that made her heart flutter and took her breath away. When they broke the kiss, James could see that Misty was blushing shyly. He smiled.
"I love you," he said, "and…I have something to ask you." He looked at the ground for a moment. Had that been nervousness she had heard in his voice? Misty wondered about that.
"What is it?"
James reached into his pocket hesitantly and pulled out a small aged-looking velvet pouch. He looked up at her as if deciding something, as his fingers caressed the object in the pouch. Apparently having made his decision, he spoke.
"I've been thinking about this ever since that night at the hotel," he began. Misty blushed scarlet, remembering. "I want us to be forever," he pulled the object from the bag and held it up for her to see. Misty's eyes grew wide and her pulse quickened as she realized what the question was. "This belonged to my great-great-grandmother, and I want to give it to you."
The object in question was a ring. Not only a ring but the single most beautiful piece of jewelry that Misty had ever laid eyes on. It was silver with a rose pattern running from the palm to the gems. There were five jewels on the ring: a ruby, an emerald, a sapphire, a yellow topaz, and in the middle was the most gorgeous diamond she'd ever seen.
But then there was the question. Was she ready for this? Could she really commit herself to someone already? Forever? She looked up into James' eyes. She saw love, hope, a million emotions, and…fear? Was he afraid that she would reject him outright? She leaned forward and kissed him softly, taking the ring from him.
Sorry it was short but I'm not sure yet how to continue it. Besides, I wanted to try a little cliffy. R&R please!!!
