Giovanni paced around his office, contemplating. If he were to take over Kanto, he would have to wait a while after Lillian gained control. Everything had to go perfectly in order for his plan to succeed.
Lillian, in the room across from her father’s office, listened intently to the older man’s thoughts. She frowned as small wrinkles carved into the corners of her mouth, marring her young face.
“If he wants my position, I’ll let him try for it. For now I will play along with his little game.” She said silently. She then ignored her father’s thoughts and concentrated on someone new. She closed her eyes and heard the voice of a chipper girl. The face and body came into view a short time after. She was wearing a red and white tee shirt with a bright yellow star on the front and a pair of blue jeans that just barely reached her waist. Hip-huggers she believed they were called.
Lillian sighed and began to invade her subconscious for anything remotely interesting. Upon finding nothing, she delved into the mind of a man with moss green hair. The man was wearing a green tee shirt and brownish tan knickers. The pale woman’s eyes widened.
“He is…” she stopped mid-sentence as her door opened and a maid walked in. Lillian glared. “What?” she asked. The maid swallowed loudly and tried her best to smile.
“I came in here to change your linen.” She said.
“Make it quick. I’m busy.” She said. The frightened woman nodded. She did what she came to do and then left hastily. Lillian shut the door after her and concentrated on the green haired man again. “He’s one of the three controllers; the element of Vision.” She whispered the last part as if it was forbidden to say. She lay down on her bed and contemplated her findings.

Indigo Joy stepped off the bullet train in Goldenrod City. She smiled as she laid baby blue eyes upon every Joy from every Pokemon Center across the world. It was sort of like a family reunion, but with formality. There was a serious problem at hand, so there was no need for acting up and being cheerful.
There were Joys of all sizes present and accounted for. One Joy stood on top of a small pillar. Her deep golden tan set her apart from the rest of the Joys.
"May I have your attention please?" she shouted. One of the little Joys reached up as far as she could and handed Tan Joy a megaphone. "Thank you." Little Joy smiled and nodded.
"May I please have your attention?" Tan Joy shouted again, louder than before. The crowd looked up simultaneously and fixed their eyes upon Tan Joy. "As you all know, every single Pokemon in the Johto Region have fallen victim to what is now called Hostilitus. They show symptoms of aggression and attack anyone who happens to be near them at the time. So far there have been a little over a hundred deaths because of this." Gasps filled the still air.
"What's causing this? Is there anything we can do about it?" Saffron Joy asked worriedly. Tan Joy shook her head.
"I'm not sure what is causing this hostility, but if it's anything like the incident at the Lake of Rage, then we have to find whomever is emitting the radio frequencies. If it's not like the Lake of Rage incident, then we have a much bigger problem to solve." She replied.
"Then let's say that it is radio waves. What are we going to do about it? We are just licensed health physicians. We are not experienced trainers. Are we going to find whomever did this and jump right in, or are we going to find some Element Masters first?" Cinnabar Joy asked.
"Well, that's the problem." Tan Joy said. "The Element Masters are scattered all around the world. It would take too long to find them, much less a few. By that time, hundreds more could die."
"Umm…" Fall Arbor Joy said quietly. All eyes averted to her. "I know a couple of Element Masters. They have been living in Fall Arbor Town for a long time now. They have traveled with the Great One when he first arrived in the Hoenn Region." The other Joys eyes widened.
"The one who wields all elements…I heard that he travels around with a group of Element Masters. They must really be close to him." Pewter Joy said with wonder.
"What if it isn't radio waves? What if it's another Pokemon?" Lava Ridge Joy asked with fright. Murmurs lifted through the crowd and into the air.
"People please!" Indigo Joy shouted. "Keep your rationality! There's no way a Pokemon could be that powerful." Not only was she reassuring the others, she was also trying to reassure herself. If it was a Pokemon, then the Element Masters would have a whole lot more to deal with.

James, his hair finally pulled back into a ponytail, sat down in the room provided to him by Hope. The Pokemon were still inside their dark chambers, the two Rocket members unwilling to let them out anytime soon. The green-eyed man fell back onto his bed and rolled over onto his side. His loose bangs fell across his face and he blinked them away. Thoughts of the day's earlier events buzzed around his head like angry Beedrill.
"I can't believe I had to fight one of my best friends." He muttered. Ever since then, he and Jessie have not been the same. It struck him as odd. Then he remembered something. Before Giovanni resigned, he had called James into his office.
~~~~(Flashback)~~~~
"Would you like to know why I called just you in here?" The man asked as he sat down in his brown leather chair. James nodded.
"Yes Sir, I would." He replied.
"You have potential. It is just that those two blunderers are holding you back. I am going to give you one last order. I expect you to follow it." He said, his dark eyes holding a malevolence that made James turn away. The blue haired man nodded.
~~~~(Reality)~~~~
Jessie sat down on her bed as well, unknowingly mimicking James' earlier actions. She thought about what Nurse Joy had said about the situation in Johto. She sighed and convinced herself that she didn't care. She laughed softly.
"I do care. There's nothing I can do about it though. Persian has been with us for as long as I can remember." She said as she nodded off to sleep.

Ash sat up late that night pondering what to do about Rocket's unexpected arrival in Indigo City. He also thought about Giovanni and his political schemes. There was also the problem of finding whatever was making all of the Pokemon aggressive. He heard a rustling behind him and turned on his side to see Misty get up and walk out of the room. He frowned and got up to follow. Pikachu woke up as well and followed his trainer out the door.
Misty looked around the empty Pokemon Center. It was weird not having a Nurse Joy around. She was pretty sure Brock was upset. She laughed at that thought. At least she wouldn't have to drag him away from her. She turned around and gasped as Ash appeared in a dark corner.
"You couldn't sleep either?" she asked. Ash shook his head. "What are we gonna do? We have no leads on what's making the Pokemon hostile and with Rocket in Indigo City, that just doubles our problems."
"Then there's the matter of Giovanni." The black haired man whispered. Misty nodded in agreement. Ash sat down on one of the soft benches at the front of the building as Pikachu jumped onto his shoulder. Misty sat down beside him and sighed heavily.
"Well I guess I'm not the only one who couldn't sleep." came a deep voice from the traveler's rooms. Brock walked out and made himself present. He sat down with them and laughed. "Duplica is sleeping like a rock. Literally."
"Pika." Pikachu squeaked sleepily. Ash looked down at his partner and smiled slightly.
“Why don’t you get some sleep? I’ll be in there in a minute.” He said. The yellow mouse nodded and scampered off. Hope came around the corner and yawned.
“You couldn’t sleep either?” she asked. The three Element Masters shook their heads. The blond sat down on a bench on the other side of the room. She sighed and brought her knees up to her chest. Her little light blue nightgown just barley touched her toes.
“You’re going to make the Pokemon feel better aren’t you?” she asked. Misty looked up and smiled.
“Yeah we are.” She said. Hope gave a false smile and let her feet dangle off of the bench.
“One of you will die.” She whispered. The three long-time friends looked at her with wide eyes. “Someone very close to you will die soon.”

“Now we get to see a demonstration from our ten-time champion! May and her Beautifly are prime examples of Pokemon contest winners. We should get a spectacular show today ladies and gentlemen! May is also an Element Master, so she’s going to add her elegance with her Pokemon’s!” an announcer shouted enthusiastically. A beautiful woman with long light brown hair walked onto the stage and bowed while getting out her Pokeball. Her bright blue eyes flashed as she threw the red and white orb.
“Go Beautifly!” she exclaimed as a butterfly Pokemon appeared with a blaze of light green energy. “Combine Gust with Silver Wind!” The butterfly flew up into the air and began to flap its wings. A small tornado kicked up around May as she spun around in a circle. Silver energies shaped like crescent moons joined the twister making it shine like stars at twilight. The woman’s hair flew around her face as she held up her arms and smiled. “Now use a combination of Sleep Powder and Spore.” Beautifly complied and spun around once, a small cloud of blue emitting from its wings. The blue cloud entered the tornado and spiraled around May, a yellow cloud joining the beautiful display soon after. The blue and yellow mixed to make green and then gave off a slight explosion of sparkles.
There was a wild applause from the audience as May completed her spin and flipped onto her hands. She spun as fast as she could, the green and silver twister taking the shape of her body, and then launched herself into the air. The twister exploded fully, the green and silver shards of energy floating around the people, having no effect whatsoever. May landed back on the ground and gave a bow as she recalled Beautifly. The audience cheered again.
“Now that was spectacular! That was May and her Beautifly!” the announcer shouted with glee. May gave another bow before walking off the stage. The participants lined up on the stage and waited to be paired with their opponents. The brown haired woman walked down the steps and smiled at a man with wavy green hair. The man wrapped his arms around her and kissed her on the cheek.
“That was awesome.” He said.
“Thanks Drew. To tell you the truth, I was nervous as hell.” She laughed and ran her fingers through her bangs.
“You didn’t look it.” Drew said with a smile. The two began to walk toward the entrance. Without warning, a teen came rushing through the door panting and holding his side. May’s eyes widened.
“Max!” she shouted. “What happened to you?” The teen looked at her with wide and fearful eyes. He removed his hand from his wound and winced. Blood flowed down his side and pooled at his feet.
“May…” he stopped mid-sentence and fell to the floor.
“Max!” she exclaimed as she kneeled down next to her younger brother. She lifted his head up to rest on her lap. “What happened?” Max struggled to look at her, the blood loss making him dizzy.
“I was attacked by a Sceptile. It launched a Bullet Seed into my side. There’s something wrong with the Pokemon…” he grabbed May’s shirt and smiled weakly. “Make the pain stop.”
The whole building had gone silent. The release of a Pokemon was like a gunshot. The announcer had released his Blissey and ran over to help when no one else would.
“Blissey, use Sing, and take care of his wound.” He said. Blissey nodded and began to sing a soothing melody. May and Drew covered their ears and began chanting something inaudible. Soon everyone was asleep. The brunette uncovered her ears and looked down at her little brother.
“He looks so peaceful.” She whispered. Drew sighed heavily and watched as Blissey took out an egg from its pouch, another appearing a short time after. May stood and let Blissey work.
