The Pokémon War - Kanto vs Johto

Chapter 2 - War Declared - Kanto VS Johto!

(I was Princess_Bella when I wrote this)

Buongiorno all!!!

Long time no fic for me. I've been planning this one for a very long time. I've now finally gotten around to writing it. There may be a large gap of time between chapters coming out, because I don't exactly have much time to write these days. So don't expect a new chapter to come out every week.

Information:

This fanfiction is about a war between the provinces in the Pokémon World. The idea is copywrited by me, so don't steal it! At the start of every chapter, there will be a newspaper article which informs you about what's going on in the war. Then there's the story involving the Pokémon characters and their involvement in the war. At the beginning of the actual story part of the fic, there will be a song quote, and it will be a kind of clue as to what will happen in that chapter. I am acting as the newspaper and TV reporter in this fic.

Kanto refers to the province of where the first Pokémon games are held - from Pallet Town to the Indigo Plateau.

Johto is the place Ash and co. are travelling right now in the series, and where the newest Pokémon games are set.

The Orange Archipelago is obviously where the characters travelled in the Orange Island series.

Kita means north in Japanese, and is the name I'm giving for the north of the Pokémon world.

Minami means south in Japanese, and is the name I'm using for the south part of the Pokémon world.

WARNING: If you do not like death or dark fiction, don't read this fic. If you know anything about war you'll know that people die. There are casualties; it's inevitable. So don't read it and flame me for killing people, because it's going to happen. I can tell you right now.

Thankyou to: Dragonfire, for translating the names of North and South for me!!!, Peter and Justin for inspiring me to write this fic, and for everyone else who is reading this for giving me the encouragement to keep writing.

Dedicated to all the people who fought for their nation in a war. May you be proud of what you risked or gave for the honour of your country.

War declared! Kanto vs Johto!

By Bella Principessa

One day after the devastating surprise attack launched on Pallet Town, Mr. Abbot, the head of parliament in Johto, released a speech to the public saying that they were declaring war on Kanto. Mr. Abbot said, "We will all stand together and fight for what we want. We will claim all the gyms in Kanto, the land, and ultimately, the Indigo League. We will do whatever it takes, fighting with trainers and Pokémon. We will overrule Kanto. We will beat them!" The leader of Kanto, Mr. Sullivan, had no response but to shake his head and say, "Prepare for tragedy. Nobody can say what this was is going to do to this country, but it will certainly change it in a way never before witnessed by anyone." The war against Team Rocket, although small, revealed that war does great damage, not only to the physical state of people, but also to their mental state. Not to mention the great losses paid by everyone.

`Everybody's looking for that something

One thing that makes it all complete

You'll find it in the strangest places

Places you never knew it could be'

Ash walked out of the kitchen and sat on the couch in the lounge. He was worried, to say the least. His hometown had been attacked, most of the people were presumed dead. He thought of poor Professor Oak, and Tracey, one of his closer distant friends. And his mother, who was there at the time of the attack. Which meant... He didn't want to think about it. He wanted to push it all out of his mind. But...he couldn't. His mother was the most important person in the world to him. His father had died while his mum was pregnant, before he was even born, in the war against Team Rocket, and his mother had raised him by herself. He didn't even want to think about what would happen if she had died in that attack. Yet, he had to think of it. It was reality. Ash wanted to cry again, imagining all the innocent people who were dead. He knew everyone in that town. But he knew that crying would solve nothing. While he was thinking hard, Misty walked in and sat next to him.

"Hey", she said.

"Hi..." he replied softly.

She looked down. For just about the first time in Misty's life, she didn't know what to say. She couldn't ask him if he was alright, because she knew the answer to that just by looking into his eyes. She couldn't tell him that everything was going to be fine, because she didn't know that, and if Deliah was dead...then he definitely wasn't going to be fine. `What can I say?' she asked herself. However, her train of thought was interrupted by a knock on the door. Ash looked up. `Who could that be?' he pondered. `Only one way to find out'. He got up off the couch, Misty following him, and walked towards the door. Ash opened it, and when he saw who was out there, almost fainted. He just stood there, staring. Misty didn't know what to say. They could hear Brock calling out from the kitchen, asking who was at the door.

For standing at the door was none other than...Deliah!

"Mom..?" Ash said softly, tears forming in his eyes.

Deliah smiled at him. "Hey honey! Merry Christmas!"

Ash blinked out his tears and thrust his arms around his mother. "Mom!" he cried. The tears kept flowing as a stunned Deliah hugged her son back. She took hold of him and looked into his eyes. "Ash, what's wrong? Has something happened?"

Misty was standing there smiling at the sight, thanking God that Deliah was alright. `I knew bad things couldn't happen to such good people', she thought.

At that moment, Brock came out with Pikachu bounding after him curiously. "Well hey Mrs. Ketchum."

"Pikachu! [Mrs. Ketchum!]"

"Hello Brock, Pikachu, Misty", she replied. "Uhh, is everything alright?"

"Mom how did you get here? What about the attack? We thought you were..." Ash trailed off as he saw the confused look on Deliah's face.

"What are you talking about? I left Pallet Town straight after I talked to you yesterday morning. It was a surprise. I wanted to see you in person. I just arrived now. What attack?"

Ash's face turned downcast, despite the huge, relieved grin that took its place on his face a moment ago. "You don't know..." He looked up to his mother's confused facial expression and discovered that the answer was no.

"I...I think we'd better sit down..." Brock said, and they all went to the small living room. Deliah sat down on the couch, Ash sitting next to her, with Pikachu in his lap, and slightly leaning on her, and Misty sitting next to Ash. Brock sat across from them and handed Deliah the paper. She took it from him and slowly read the first page. "Oh my God..." were the only words that she could force out of her mouth after she had read it. She looked up with a look on her face which showed a mixture of confusion, anger, fear and sadness. "Who...who would do this?"

"They don't know...yet", Misty answered her.

"Pikaaaa..." Pikachu mumbled, not actually saying anything, but letting everyone know that it was sad.

Deliah put her arm around Ash. "I'm so sorry, Ash", she said as she hugged him.

He looked up at her. She could tell that her son was trying to hold tears back. "Everything's gone... I thought you went with it..." he managed to choke out. Deliah hugged him tighter. "I should've told you I was coming. I wanted it to be a surprise. I can't believe this..." The events had not fully sunk in yet. `Professor Oak, Tracey... My home, all the memories... All gone', she thought as tears came to her eyes.

"It's ok. You didn't know. I'm just glad you're here now", Ash said, drying his eyes. Everyone then turned their attention towards the TV, which had just began playing the news music, which meant there was to be another update on what was going on. Sure enough, the young woman with medium length dark brown hair and dark eyes, which inside them held a lot of fear because of what was going on, appeared. "Hello, this is Bella Principessa reporting for PokéLive news. Just a few minutes ago, Mr. Abbot, the Parliament Leader for Johto, announced that they had declared war on Kanto." The scene then switched to Mr. Abbot making his speech. "After the war against Team Rocket some years ago, another war has been declared. However, this time it's much more serious. We'll keep you updated", she said, and the news broadcast turned off. Straight after that, an ad came on. It was a pleading commercial, asking for Pokémon Trainers to enlist and help fight in the war. Most of it was propaganda, but when Misty looked over at Ash and saw the determined look in his eyes, she knew just what he was going to say.

"Guys..." Ash said softly. He stood up and clenched his fists. "We're going back to Kanto. I'm enlisting to help."

To be continued...

Well, there's another chapter done. I'm sorry it was so short, but it should start getting more interesting soon. For now just bare with me. I'm just setting the story.

Ciao! Luv THA princess.
