He doesn't hear voices, and as he walks through the halls, the pretty necklace as his throat glinting and glistening, no one sees him. It's easy to do, because his host was so vulnerable that he fell, and now, this body is his. He makes his way down the stairs, and he sees his lover waiting, the Ring pulsing golden light on her chest, and he laughs as Lance kisses him desperately.
Red smirks, because now he is free, and Ash is tightly locked in the back of his mind and he'll never, ever let that whiny child out again.
This is better, for why would you let an inferior part take control? He cannot believe how foolish the boy was, all those false friendships and petty lies, too stupid to recognize the nose in front of his face or the Pokemon he saw only minutes ago.

“I love you.” Red whispers, almost out of instinct. “I think Ashton liked you, but you didn't like him, did you?”
“Of course not,” Lance reassures him. “I never would, except that he was part of you, but even then…” She found him a disgusting brat. Fortunately, deception was practically a second nature, what with her classified government work.
No, she would never lower herself to that.

“Well now he's gone, and I'm all yours…” Red purrs, and Lance smirks, ignoring the crying in her mind now that she's disposed of her former self. It's time for the light to die and the dark to play, and the more competent personalities are finally free.
“Quite,” She agrees, and kisses him again.
He wraps his arms around her, cuddling. “Marry me.”
“I will,” Lance knows what is in his heart. “Forever mine…”
“Yes,” He agrees, and beams.
They will live on, though their shadows may not. Curse Serebii for creating this mess! If she had not given Ashton so much free will, he would never have split from Ashura, or his destiny.
Fool…

Nonetheless, she was pleased with Red. He was stronger because of the split, and all the rotting bits of his personality had flaked away. It had gone well.
She herself was now free of excessive sentimentality and a brainless mindset. This was for the best. Oh, and that pink hair was gone too.
“Can we get something to eat now?”
Lance nodded. Then again, there were some things that did not change. “Want to get ice cream?”
He nodded with a grin. “Sure.”
And so they did.

Multiple personality is now more commonly known as dissociative identity disorder. It is also a very rare condition. And it's a bitch trying to find information on it…
This has vague Yu-Gi-Oh references, but of course one doesn't need a magic item to get MPD. It's often caused by trauma and is a defense mechanism. It is also known as `Dissociative Identity Disorder'. In the context of this fic, it's more of an editing mechanism, to rid one's mind and body of unwanted memories or traits.
