These are the review responses. Thanks a lot.
angel-of-time: Descriptions are my weak point. It's something I'm trying to get better at. I like Bulbasaur too. I'm thinking about revealing a little more of his past as well.

Chapter 3: VS Flint
"So this is the Viridian Forest, huh?" Rey said as she stood facing the next step of her journey. She began walking through the woods looking at all the pokemon. All she saw was marshland and trees. She looked up into the sky only to see the soon was blocked by the trees.
"So this is the Viridian Forest, huh?" Rey said as she stood facing the next step of her journey. She began walking through the woods looking at all the pokemon. All she saw was marshland and trees. She looked up into the sky only to see the soon was blocked by the trees.
"Okay, I have to catch some here," Rey had been refraining herself from pokemon catching until she had more money, but her plans of that lasting were quickly falling. She looked up and saw a Caterpie.
"Cyndaquil, ember attack!" Cyndaquil hit the unsuspecting pokemon with full force.
"Pokeball, go!" The pokeball quickly stopped moving. Rey called out her new pokemon. She walked
over to a tree and grabbed a fine black marker from out of her bag. She drew a target sign and walked back to the bug pokemon. "Caterpie, I want you to do string shot on the tree. If you do it enough, the threads should get stronger," Rey stated. Caterpie had the same determined look. She walked over to Cyndaquil. "Return, Cyndaquil," she said as Cyndaquil disappeared into the red and white ball.
"This may take a while, but it's better to be prepared now than later," Rey said sitting up in a tree while they did their drills. "You will thank me later." Caterpie gave her death stares and went back to her respective drills. She had been at this for about an hour now. She was obviously tired. "Come on, you can be more accurate than that," Rey said earning another set of glares. 'I wonder how Cyndaquil is going to take this,' she thought. "Okay, good work, return," Rey recalled her Caterpie back to her pokeball.
Rey began again to wonder through the forest more, looking for an exit. She couldn't take her mind off of how many trees there were. After wondering for an hour she noticed a Pidgey. She decided to walk past it and call it a day. She set up camp and called all her pokemon out.
"Time to eat, you guys," Rey said knowing her pokemon were probably hungry. Rey bought loads of pokemon food for her journey. She, on the other hand, had vegetable soup to eat. After her pokemon ate their fill, all except Cyndaquil returned to their pokeballs. Rey assumed that Cyndaquil probably would not go into its pokeball very often.
'Maybe he was really scared when I passed out a couple of days ago,' Rey thought.
She pulled out her sleeping bag and got in. Cyndaquil jumped on her belly. "Why do you always do that?" Rey said in a slightly annoyed tone, wanting to see how Cyndaquil reacted. Cyndaquil ignored her and went to sleep.
"Clingy and stubborn; it's kind of cute actually. I wonder if he will stay like that if he evolves," she said putting her hands behind her head. Shortly after, she went to sleep.
Rey woke up early that morning. She assumed she could be at the exit in an hour or two if she didn't run into pokemon or battle anyone. She was trying to avoid catching anything as she only had one pokeball left.
She watched as she saw a Pikachu walk by.
'I am going to completely disregard what I just thought. If Ash's Pikachu is as strong I think it is, I want one for myself,' She thought pulling out a pokeball from her bag.
"Go, Caterpie!" Rey said sending out one of her freshly caught pokemon.
Pikachu attacked first using a Thundershock.
"Caterpie, stand your ground."
Caterpie attempted to stand the blow, but couldn't. She fell out and Pikachu ran.

Pikachu attacked first using a Thundershock.
"Caterpie, stand your ground."
Caterpie attempted to stand the blow, but couldn't. She fell out and Pikachu ran.
She picked Caterpie up. “You okay?” she asked. Caterpie nodded. Rey reached into her bag and pulled out a potion. “This is going to sting a little bit.” Rey sprayed the hurt pokemon. It flinched as the medicine was being applied. It shivered in her arms and hopped out. Caterpie climbed up on a tree and began to eat leaves. “Well, I guess it's time for lunch.”
Rey sat down and called her pokemon out to eat. While her pokemon ate, she polished her most prized possession, whistling a tune while she cleaned. She put the flute up to her mouth and played. Her three pokemon stared at her as she played. She grinned seeing that she had all their attention. “Let's get moving,” Rey said standing up using the tree as support. She recalled all her pokemon and walked off. She looked around and saw a group of Beedrill around a tree. She slowly walked past them hoping one wouldn't see her. As she continued walking she saw a Weedle. “Caterpie, let's go,” Rey called sending out her pokemon. Caterpie looked at her fellow bug pokemon. “Caterpie, string shot,” Caterpie fired a string shot that prevented Weedle from moving at all. Weedle fired a poison sting and broke the sticky net.

“Caterpie, tackle,” Rey called. Caterpie charged at Weedle. Weedle fired a poison sting and sent Caterpie backwards. “Caterpie, string shot,” Rey commanded. Caterpie wrapped the web around Weedle's mouth. “Caterpie, tackle.” Caterpie's tackle knocked Weedle into a tree. Rey reached into her bag for a pokeball. She looked around, but did not see Weedle. She noticed a string shot dash across her cheek. She looked up to see Weedle covering its escape with the trees. It looked like he laughed at them and continued its escape. Rey looked down at Caterpie. “Good job, Caterpie.” Caterpie shown with a bright light. “So, you're a Metapod now?” Rey asked. Metapod nodded and hopped towards Rey. As Metapod was hopping toward her, she fell in a mud puddle. Rey stifled a chuckled as she walked over to pick up the fallen pokemon.
----------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------
After more walking, Rey finally made it to the exit.
"Stop right there! I am the forest ruler. Do as I say and bow," A kid appeared. He was about 7 or 8 years old with a straw hat on his head.
"Yeah right," Rey said sarcastically.
"Stop joking around."
"Okay, let me pass."
"No. You have to battle me for passage."
'This kid is annoying,' Rey thought.
"Fine. I guess I'll battle you."
"Okay, 3-on-3 battle."
"Fine. Let's just start."
"Okay," the kid braced himself for battle. "I choose you, Rattata."
"Okay. I choose you, Metapod! What's your name, kid? I need to know your name so I can formally beat you."
"You won't, and my name is Ty. But a real lady would say their name first. Unless..."
Angered by his comment, she took a few seconds to answer. "The name is Rey,"
"Well Rey, watch my Rattata trample that sorry excuse for a pokemon. Rattata, quick attack,"
"Metapod, harden, Rattata bounced off Metapod..

"Metapod, tackle attack," Metapod charged as Rattata was in close proximity.
"Rattata, ice beam attack!" Rattata opened his mouth as a crystal blue light shown from it.
"Metapod, cover its mouth with string shot. Metapod covered Rattata's mouth the best it could, but Rattata still released the attack, The beam went in different directions missing Metapod.
“Metapod, tackle.” Metapod jumped at Rattata and hit it knocking it against a tree.
"Return, Rattata," He grabbed another pokeball. "I choose you, Pidgey!"
"Metapod, string shot attack,"
"Pidgey, dodge it and use aerial ace." Pidgey dodged the sticky thread and hit Metapod with all it had.
"Metapod stood here standing still unable to get up.
“Metapod, return. Cyndaquil, I choose you.”
“Cyndaquil, ember.”
“Pidgey dodge it and use aerial ace." Pidgey flew high in the air and perched itself on a tree. It then flew down as hard as it could to hit Cyndaquil.
“Cyndaquil, flame wheel.” Cyndaquil charged at Pidgey, flames surrounding it. Pidgey. And Cyndaquil met in the sky headbutting each other. Cyndaquil fell down as Pidgey flew up. “Cyndaquil, smokescreen.” Cyndaquil covered the field in smoke and jumped on a tree limb. He watched carefully until he clearly saw his target. “Cyndaquil ember.” Cyndaquil tried an ember attack only for the apparition to disappear. Pidgey flew out of the smoke and hit Cyndaquil off the limb, causing Cyndaquil to land on his head. Cyndaquil, ember.”
“Pidgey dodge it and use tackle again,”Ty commanded. Pidgey flew down attempting to end the match one and for all. It dodged the ember attack and kept on course for its target.
“Cyndaquil ember again.” Pidgey dodged the ember once again. “Cyndaquil, flame wheel.” Cyndaquil charged at Pidgey colliding with it. Pidgey was pushed back by Cyndaquil's strength and began to plummet. “Cyndaquil finish it with ember.” Cyndaquil connected with the falling Pidgey as it hit the ground with a thud. Pidgey was now unconscious. Ty grabbed his pokeball and held it in front of him.
“Return, Pidgey,"
"Your third pokemon?" Rey inquired.
"I don't have one."
"Your third pokemon?" Rey inquired.
"I don't have one."
"What?"
"I hoped that what I had was enough, but it wasn't."
Rey was silent.
"You're name- you said it was Rey, right?"
"Yes,"
"I'm sorry about what I said earlier. You are a lady and a pretty one."
"Thanks."
"You can pass."
Cyndaquil jumped into her arms as she began to walk toward the exit.
"Where are you going?"
"I hoped that what I had was enough, but it wasn't."
Rey was silent.
"You're name- you said it was Rey, right?"
"Yes,"
"I'm sorry about what I said earlier. You are a lady and a pretty one."

"You can pass."
Cyndaquil jumped into her arms as she began to walk toward the exit.
"Where are you going?"
"To the Pewter City gym."
"When you are done, can you come to my house? I want my parents to meet you. I'll wait by the gym at sunset, okay?"
"Um... okay," Rey said. `What is with this kid?'
Rey finally made it to Pewter City. She immediately went to the pokemon center to restore her pokemon to full health. "Nurse Joy, how did you get here before me?" she asked. Nurse Joy looked confused. She then put two and two together.
"Did you just come from Viridian City?"
"Yes.”
"Oh, you met my cousin, not me." Joy said.
"Your cousin? But you have the same name and you look exactly alike."
"That's true," Joy took out a photo from under her desk and showed it to Rey. "See, we all have the same name and even look the same." Rey almost passed out looking at all the Joy's in the picture. The photo had twenty or thirty Joy's lined up. She couldn't tell the difference even if her life depended on it. While she got over her shock of the Joys, a Chansey walked in with her pokeballs. "Well, your pokemon are all in top shape. Is there anything else I can do for you?"
"Yes, can you tell be about the gym?"
"Sure. Pewter Gym is a rock-type gym. The conditions are two-on-two single battles," Joy answered.
"Thanks for your help," Rey said.
"Are you already registered?"
"Yes."
"Okay then, good luck in your gym battle," Joy said.
Rey took her pokeballs and began to walk around the pokemon center collecting as much information extra information on the gym as she could. She walked over to the phone next to her and called Professor Oak.
"Rey. How have you been?"
"Great, I am in Pewter City and the second I finish sending these two pokemon to you, I will be heading toward the gym leader," Rey said. "I have an idea on how to beat him."
"Good. Don't overexert yourself. Take your time. You have a whole year to get the eight badges."
"I know."
"Well in any case you are doing well. I have the two pokemon. Good luck."
"Thanks,"
Rey stood in front of the Pewter Gym. "Wow, it's pretty big," she said gathering her nerves as she entered the door. "I am here to challenge the gym leader of Pewter City."
At the sound of her voice, a boy walked in. He had squinty eyes and tanned skin. "You are a challenger, I assume."
"Yes."
"Come with me,"
The boy led her down the hall to the stadium. The stadium was covered in massive rocks and dirt. Much higher up, there was a standing area above the field that gave a clear view of everything that would happen in future battles.
"Wait right here. I will get the gym leader."
A little while later, a man walked in. He had tan skin and squinty eyes like the kid she saw a few minutes ago. He appeared to be middle aged.
'He reminds me of Brock, one of Ash's friends. He's probably his dad.'
"I am the gym leader while my son is traveling in Johto. My name is Flint."
"I assume Brock is your son."
"Yes," He seemed shocked. "How did you know?"
"He is traveling around with someone I know."
"I see.”
"Dad, can I get my brothers and sisters and bring them here?"
"I don't see why not Forrest, go ahead." Flint turned his attention to Rey. "While they're gone, I will explain the rules. It will be a two-on-two single battle. No time limit. You can switch pokemon, but I cannot.
"Okay, sounds reasonable."
"Dad, we're back."
Rey was amazed. She saw five other boys and six girls. 'That's a big family. How can he raise them all? He's got enough for

a football team.'
"Okay kids, you know were to go."
Forrest stepped into the middle of the ring. "The battle between the Challenger, Rey, and the Gym Leader of Pewter City, Flint, will now begin."
"Rhyhorn, I choose you."
"Cyndaquil, it's your turn."
"Rhyhorn, tackle."
“Cyndaquil dodge it and use ember.” Cyndaquil rolled out of Rhyhorn's way. It then fired tiny sputters of flame at Rhyhorn's side. The flames seemed to do little to Rhyhorn. Rhyhorn turned to follow Cyndaquil.

“Rhyhorn, horn attack.” Rhyhorn charged at Cyndaquil horn tilted downwards.
“Cyndaquil dodge and use tackle.” Cyndaquil narrowly dodged Rhyhorn's attack and tried to tackle Rhyhorn. Cyndaquil bounced off Rhyhorn and hit the ground. It sat up and clutched his head, a tear in his eye. `This isn't going well,' Rey thought. “Cyndaquil, flame wheel.” Cyndaquil stood on his fours and charged at Rhyhorn. “Cyndaquil, double team.” Cyndaquil made a clone and the two continued to charge at Rhyhorn. “Both of you run around in circles around Rhyhorn. They both encircled Rhyhorn causing a circle of flames to surround him.
“Rhyhorn, rollout attack.” Rhyhorn rolled out of the flames. “Now Rhyhorn spin in the dirt to get rid of the flames.” Rhyhorn spun around on the dirt hoping to quench the flames.
“Cyndaquil, ember.” The attack once again bounced off of Rhyhorn. Rey clenched her teeth. `I need a water pokemon.'
“Rhyhorn, body slam.” Rhyhorn charged at Cyndaquil hoping that he would stand still. Rhyhorn jumped in the air over Cyndaquil.
“Cyndaquil, flame wheel on Rhyhorn's exposed stomach,” Cyndaquil jumped in the air and hit Rhyhorn's stomach giving him a shocked expression. Rhyhorn, however was much heavier than Cyndaquil and came crashing down on him. “Cyndaquil, ignite your flames.” Cyndaquil's back burst into flames causing Rhyhorn to jump back. Cyndaquil looked dazed as he slowly arose to his feet. `It looked like that attack actually hurt Rhyhorn,' Rey realized. “Cyndaquil flame wheel.”
Rhyhorn, horn attack,” Flint yelled as Cyndaquil got closer. Rhyhorn knocked Cyndaquil up in the air with his horn.
“Cyndaquil, ember.” Cyndaquil hit Rhyhorn with an ember causing it to close one eye as the attack brushed off this rocky exterior. Cyndaquil hit the ground hard not moving an inch.
“Cyndaquil is unable to battle. The match goes to Rhyhorn,” Forrest yelled happily. Flint's children began to cheer loudly.
“Cyndaquil, return. Bulbasaur, it's up to you,” Rey called.
“Bulbasaur, razor leaf.” Bulbasaur launched leaves from his bulb. The attack seemed to do a lot of damage.
“Rhyhorn, body slam attack.” Rhyhorn rushed at Bulbasaur and jumped in the air.
“Bulbasaur dodge it.” Bulbasaur used his vines and pushed himself back.
“Rhyhorn, fury attack.” Rhyhorn ran toward Bulbasaur.
“Bulbasaur dodge it.” Bulbasaur jumped on Rhyhorn's back. “Razor leaf!” Bulbasaur hit Rhyhorn with a razor leaf that knocked Rhyhorn down. Bulbasaur jumped off of Rhyhorn's back ready to continue. However, Rhyhorn wasn't.
“Rhyhorn is unable to battle,” Forrest yelled.
Flint's children had given Rey the death stare. 'These kids are crazy,' Rey said, noticing the death glare. `I hope they don't start throwing stuff or jump on top of me trying to break every bone in my body.
"Golem, I choose you."
"Golem, hidden power." Flashing orbs surrounded Golem; he fired them at Bulbasaur.
"Bulbasaur, use razor leaf." Bulbasaur fired a fury of leaves. The two attacks cancelled each other out causing a huge explosion.

"Golem, defense curl." Golem hid in its shell. "Now use rollout."
Golem chased Bulbasaur all around the gym.
"Bulbasaur, razor leaf." Bulbasaur's leaves bounced right off Golem. Bulbasaur tried again but to no avail. Golem's hard body hit Bulbasaur knocking it backwards. "Bulbasaur, dodge it and use vine whip." Bulbasaur moved out of the way and used vine whip to trip Golem up, crashing it into a wall.
"Bulbasaur, while its vulnerable use razor leaf. Bulbasaur again used the razor sharp leaves only this time it was apparent that they did damage.
"Golem, earthquake." Golem got up and shook the ground by stomping. Bulbasaur tilted over shocked from the attack. “Golem, tackle attack.” Golem rushed at Bulbasaur quickly taking advantage of its weakened state. Bulbasaur braced itself for the attack, trying as hard as it could to avoid most of it. Rey watched as Bulbasaur was sent rolling on the dirt ground stopping a few feet away from her. Bulbasaur stood up quickly and stared at Rey angrily waiting for her to give a command.

Rey quickly began running through the pokedex entry of Bulbasaur trying to remind herself of his attacks. “Bulbasaur, get in close,” Rey said finally. Bulbasaur stared at her skeptically. “Get going.” Bulbasaur, still unsure, rushed at Golem and slowed down as he approached the much larger pokemon. “Bulbasaur leech seed,” Rey commanded calling on the never used attack. Bulbasaur shot out a seed from its bulb. It hit Golem's center. Everyone watched as the seed quickly opened and began to devour Golem's energy. Golem stood there unable to move.
"Bulbasaur, use razor leaf one more time." Bulbasaur released the attack landing a direct hit on Golem.
"Golem is unable to battle; the winner is the challenger Rey," Forrest said sadly.
All Forrest's brothers and sisters began to boo at Rey and calling her win a fluke.

"Enough," Flint yelled loudly. "Rey won fair and square. If you don't like the fact that I lost, get stronger and better at pokemon, and battle her yourselves," Flint said, disciplining his children. They grew silent heeding their father's words. Flint quietly approached Rey."Good job, Rey, you deserve this badge. It's the Boulderbadge."
"Thank you, Flint," She looked at the badge.
"Where are you heading to now?" Forrest said jumping into the conversation.
"Cerulean City, first thing in the morning."
"If you are ever in the neighborhood, stop by sometime. You are always welcome here," Flint said.
"Thank you and good bye," Rey said, a giant grin on her face.
As she left the gym and saw Ty at the entrance.
"How did you do?"
Rey showed him the badge.
"Wow, you won! Congratulations. I didn't think you would win. I expected you to come out of there crying like a baby."
"Gee, thanks for the support. Where is your house?"
"It's up the road. My parents really want to meet you."
"Hold up. First things first. I have to get items for tomorrow.
"Okay, I guess I will go with you. Unless, you are one of those people who spend all day window shopping or take forever buying one thing."

"No, that annoys me just as it does you." Rey and Ty walked to the Pokemart. Rey stocked up on pokeballs, potions, and other healing items. They went in and went out quickly.
"Well, this is my house." He opened the door. "Mom, I'm home!"
"Welcome home son, and is this your friend?"
"Yes, her name is Rey." Ty introduced. Rey looked around at her surroundings. It was a pretty big house. The kitchen was the room on the left. The living room was on the right. There was a long walkway that led to a hallway. The living room had what looked like expensive furniture and the television was still on the news. She then turned her attention back to the woman in front of her. She looked no younger than thirty. She had a pink apron on. Under it was a red dress with a ribbon on the back. She had brown hair much like her mother's and blue sparkling eyes.
"Well come in, dear,"
"Thank you," Rey said as Ty ran off to his room.
"My son has great interest in becoming a pokemon trainer."
"I see. He is well on his way."
"Rey, you're a beginning trainer, right."
"Yes,"
"I thought so. So what do you plan on accomplishing during your journey?
"I don't know. Never put much thought into it."
"You have one badge already, right?"
"Yes,"
"Do you intend to take on the Indigo Plateau?"
"Yes,"
"You are probably wondering why I'm asking you these questions, right?"
"Very much."
"I was a pokemon trainer once. I made it all the way to the Johto championship."
"Wow!"
"Talking about it, it fires me up again.”

"So, when do you intend on leaving?"
"Tomorrow morning,"
"Early bird, huh? Well, thank you for teaching my son a little about pokemon. Before, all he thought that all he had to do was capture and care and that would be it. He didn't think he would have to train them that much. He said he saw you train your pokemon and now he knows what he has to do. Thank you,"
"No problem,"
"Rey, do you have a place to stay tonight?"
"I was going to stay at the pokemon center."
"Have you already put your stuff in the pokemon center?”
"Not yet."
"Why don't you stay here for the night then?"
"Um... I'm fine."
"No, please; we insist. It's a family custom that we house a trainer every now and then. You don't want to go against family customs now, do you?"
"No," Rey said, realizing she lost this battle.
"Good, now here," She passed Rey a plate. "It's time to get eat!"

A/N: Not much to say. It's the third chapter and Rey finally gets a badge. Well until next chapter. I'm still a little shaky on the gym battle. Let me know if it's any good or not. After next chapter the updates will probably slow down quite a bit. I had already finished the first four chapters before I posted. I'm ready to listen to any suggestions before I post the fourth one. Rey's sickness and back-story will be somewhat revealed. Well until next chapter.
