Chapter 0.1: Something
Floating aimlessly, he looked at the Nothing who was held in place by his “children,” if one could call them that. They had come from his voice but they held no life, no energy. It saddened him, that he had not taken the time to give true life to them. This new Nothing, that was now the Universe, was too quiet.
His musings turned to how to relieve this silence, seeing as there wasn't anything he could do about what was already done. Drifting, he examined his children, some of who were almost as bright and brilliant as he. They were lovely, in their own way, but who other than he would admire them? He turned his attention to the other children, all most all of whom were larger than he. Perhaps, if he could create such children as these, he could create other children, ones filled with life.
Selecting what looked to be promising, he landed, examining the barren child. Looking up into the Universe, he was pleased that one of his largest, shining children warmed this child with its rays and another, much smaller child, circled this child of his. Gazing further, he saw several of his other children who had decided to circle the bright child. If he created new children here, they would be able to see their brethren and admire them.
This thought pleasing him, he opened his mouth to loosen three powerful notes. These three notes took shape before him and held much power in their being.
“Who are you?” he asked them, waiting for their answer.
The first that had been a note tossed his head, his silver hair curling around his harsh features. Chest bare and lean, he glared at his creator with fire in his eyes. A pair of brilliant orange and gold wings protruded from his back, flames dancing across them when they moved and shimmering with at least seven different colors. Silver tail feathers matched his hair, sparkling behind him. He had a pair of ragged pants on, ones that looked as though they had been torn off at the knee, for whatever reason. His arms and legs were as black as the Nothing had been, sharp white claws on both. His skin was a mix of colors, orange around his face and upper torso, white on the lower half till it met his black legs. When he spoke, his voice was ruthless and burned.
“I am a being of Spirit whose power will spread through all and ignite passion in those who are pure and ambitious. With my aid, they will be able to over come all and shine brighter than even you.” His eyes narrowed, the dark circles around his eyes making him look rather menacing. “Woe to any who try and use my ability for evil, for they shall be punished with my scathing flames.”
The second one lightly placed a hand on the other, which in reality was more of a flipperish wing. The first one jerked away from the touch, moving away from the other. The second one sighed but turned to look at his creator. This one was sleek where the other had been a bit more muscular. A prong emerged from this one's forehead, along with two smaller ones by its eyes. His arms were long, almost touching his feet. He lacked the claws the other had, had no hair, or any other distinguishable traits beside his tail, which had two fins at the end of it. The silver feathers it did have were small and hardly visible, blending to look more like some kind of skin layer than feathers. This one had only a pair of shorts, allowing the creator to see his back when he had turned sideways. It seemed that this one had some other fins along his back, lined up in pairs. The fins and eye prongs, along with this male's belly, was a fuchsia pink color. When he turned his attention to his creator, the male spoke in gentler tones than the first, his voice rich and soothing.
“I am a being of Mind whose power encourages the growth of new ideas and motivates others to create things of brilliance. With my aid, if they accept it, they will learn new things and develop all sorts of different things.”
The third took a step forward, her pale violet gown pooling to hide her ankles. The light blue scarf twined loosely around her body swayed as she moved, starting at her shoulder and ending at her feet. The dark blue jewels that dangled from the scarf gleamed and pulsed with energy, the two on the sleeves of her gown shimmering in response. The necklace around her neck had beads of black, the centerpiece stone a brilliant white in contrast. The black beads matched her oval eyes, ones that had no pupils. The white stone went with the light coating of fur that he could easily see on her face and finger tips. She had a small orange beak instead of a mouth, along with ears that started at the top of her head and trailed down past her waist, two tear drop crystals dangling from them. Finally, on her forehead, there were three jems, the largest at the top, trailing down to the smallest one between her eyes. They were a simple cream color, richer than her white fur coloring that helped add to her mysteriousness. She bowed her head politely, her body emitting a soft light, much gentler than her brethren who held the Nothing in place. When she spoke, her voice was soft and musical, pleasing to the ears.
“I am a being of Purity whose power is to reveal darkness and drive it away from those who seek my aid. I am here to lighten heavy hearts, spread warmth and comfort-”
“And be a regular goodie two shoes,” the first spat out nastily, his wings flapping and spitting out flames.
Her beak clicked shut and she folded her arms, keeping her back to the first who had insulted her. The second put his flipper to his head, uncertain as of what to do. Before he could attempt to do anything, the creator spoke.
“Now is not the time, He of Spirit. We have much work to do and you must all work as one to complete the task.”
“What do you wish of us?”
Their creator smiled at the second male, the one of Mind. “Help me bring this child of mine to life, help me create other children so this world will sing for all to hear.”
He of Spirit, He of Mind, and She of Purity all looked at one another before nodding to he who made them. He of Spirit took a deep breath before spreading out his wings and arms to his full length, the light of his bright brethren in the sky striking his wings to cast a rainbow aura around him. His voice erupted from his throat, the notes scathingly hot as the song reached out to his bright brother in the sky. It heard him and flared in acknowledgement to the song, causing more rays of its brilliance to reach out to the barren child they stood on. When his song slowed to an end, He of Mind started his song, his soothing voice singing a song of sorrow. It was so sad that the barren child began to cry, its tears making way to the surface to form lakes and oceans. Because of the previous song, the light from the bright child made some of the water evaporate to form clouds. This song ending, the being of Purity added her voice, its song so beautiful that the barren child extended itself upward to hear better. The molecules in the air purified, making it inhabitable to those who would soon be born. Rejoining the song, Mind, Spirit, and Purity sang as one, their voices melding into a unique melody. The barren child suddenly exploded with life, different plants and trees bursting from the ground, covering the land. No longer barren, it was renamed Earth by the one who birthed it.
