Chapter 4:

Disclaimer: Nope. Still not mine.

Celadon City was giant, having grown since Ash last visited it, and becoming a business center. The famous Celadon Department Store was still standing, only a few blocks away from the Celadon Skyscraper, where some of the most expensive apartments in Kanto lay. But even more surprising to Ash and Misty was the construction of another casino.

The first casino in Celadon was near the town center, and attracted tens of thousands of visitors each day, who flocked to where the odds were supposedly better than anywhere else. It was a simple set up too. People put in money, and in return they get to buy special Pokémon. Now, there was another one, with giant roulette tables, and an even larger, uglier building.

“Why do they have to build these things?” Misty wondered out loud. “All they do is create sleazy tourists and take up spaces where something useful could be built.”

“But it's not bad for the giant Celadon Hotel in the city,” Ash pointed out “with this new casino, it will get more and more new visitors. With more visitors, more people stay and live here. In a way, the casino is helping the city.”

“In a way I suppose, but it's also taking advantage of gullible people and… there he is.” Misty blurted out, interrupting herself and pointing towards a group of people. “Over there, in the sky-blue trench coat.” And they both looked to see Giovanni in a group of people each wearing beige trench coats themselves and each of them wearing bowler hats. They all laughed at something Giovanni said, and moved into the casino.

“Do you think he came here to gamble?” Ash asked.

“Maybe, but why would he keep that a secret?”

“Perhaps he's a gambling addict, and he doesn't want us to know to know, or maybe he knows someone in the casino.”

“Let's go inside.”

“But I'm not allowed!”

“Here, I'm 19 and I'll pretend I'm with you.” They raced to the casino, and headed inside.

“Hello there today! And how might you be?” A very happy, very scary man yelled jumping in front of them. “I'm doing great myself! Welcome to the New Celadon Casino! Shall I escort you to a slot machine?” He asked, and Ash started to come up with an excuse so he could get buy him. Misty however, just pushed him out of the way.

“Let's go Ash.” She said walking along. Ash was as stunned as the casino employee, but neither of them said anything. They walked to the center, which was packed with people, and found Giovanni after about a minute or so of looking. As he was marching off, one of the people in a beige trench coat said something into a walkie-talkie. They walked off into a separate hall, and Ash and Misty followed them.

They entered the hallway, which was all white with a large red carpet in the center, surrounded by benches and three glass doors. One door led off to a room surrounded by one way glass, the second to a room with state of the art computers and other equipment, and the third led to a hall that led upstairs.

Misty and Ash proceeded to move upstairs, but a hand landed on each of their shoulders. They spun around, and one of the men in the trench coats stood there glaring at them. “Come with me.” He said coldly, glaring at them, and they shivered inside.

As they were walking down yet another hall, Ash started to speak. “What exactly did we do?” He asked curiously.

“I'd shut up. You're in a lot of trouble, and Giovanni is very angry with you.” He led them to Giovanni, who was waiting in the lobby glaring at them.

“You.” He said to Ash menacingly. “Can I not leave you for more than a second unattended? Do I really have to spend all my time making sure you don't go where you aren't wanted? You sneak to Celadon City, head to a casino, just to follow me? You could've been killed.”

With that last breath, Ash felt relief. Giovanni cared about his safety. “No sir,” he started, “Misty and I went to Saffron City to talk to the Fighting Master about his bid to be a recognized Gym leader and I remembered you were only 50 miles away.” Giovanni glared at them for a moment, and then his expression softened.

“Very well.” He said. “I've already bought train tickets for your return to the Indigo Headquarters. Rhydon will escort you.” He said, casually throwing out a Great Ball which contained the Rhydon.

The two left, feeling pretty stupid. “I told you it was a bad idea.” Misty said, but Ash wasn't listening. He had spoiled Giovanni's trust in him, and upon Giovanni's return, Ash would do everything to get that back.

So is it good? Does it suck? Would it kill you to review?
