Laura put a friendly hand on Kara's shoulder, "You can admire it later. Can you elaborate on that statement you made earlier?" Kara nods and sits down in the beanbag chair. Natoli and Laura sit down in the armchairs and look at her expectantly. "Well. When I chose to become a pokemon trainer, instead of a researcher like the rest of the family, he disowned me. He told me I had one day to pack my belongings and get out of town; for no child of his would be a pokemon trainer. My mother also disapproved, but was nicer about it. She let me borrow our PC so that I could create an account and put the things I couldn't carry into storage. She even said goodbye to me! However, after that day, I have had no contact with my family. Somehow, I think its better that way."
Laura and Natoli were silent for a while, then Natoli said, "Well, I can see how this would be a problem in our plan. Even though Team Magma uses under-handed methods to achieve our goals, we try not to put civilians in danger any more than we have to. After all, our goal is one of benefit."
Suddenly Kara's stomach grumbled loudly, causing Natoli and Laura to laugh. "We almost forgot our job. Let's get you fed and washed, then we can worry about this problem." Kara agreed and went to wash her hands. When she came out, Laura and Natoli were talking to Jake. When he saw her he smiled "Ah! There you are. Our leader Maxie has requested a formal dinner. Though I don't know why. He asked me to make sure you get ready in five minutes. I suppose this means that you wear your best clothes."
"Thank you for the warning" Kara tells him. Laura, Natoli, and Jake all walk out the door so that Kara can change. Kara hastily turns on the PC, goes to item storage, opens up her clothes folder, and selects a beautiful black and purple dress. She clicks withdraw and then open her hygiene folder. She selects her favorite Rose scented soap, shampoo and conditioner and withdraws them from storage as well. She grabs her bath stuff and hurries into the bathroom, and takes a shower.
She changes into her dress, with black satin slippers to match and makes last minute adjustments her dress. Now she only has three minutes to wait. Her hair was completely dry by the time she left her assigned room.. However, when Kara opened the door Jake wasn't there.
Instead she encounters Bannai, who had to blink a few times before managing to tell Kara that he was sent to escort her to the formal dining room. Kara nods. "Laura and Natoli are coming too. Because they still are my guards, right?"
Bannai nods "Of course." Although he did look a little disappointed. "Shall we escort Miss Madora to dinner?" Laura asks. "Oh, what? Of course, lets go. Follow me." Bannai seems to snap out of a train of thought and walks off, motioning for her to follow. Just as Kara thought she was going in circles, the group came to a halt in front of a set of double doors. Bannai opened one and gestured her inside with Natoli and Laura close behind.
Kara paused a few feet inside to view the dimly lit room. Upon a large, red rug stood the polished, wooden dining table. She noticed that the table was set for five. "I'm glad you could make it." She heard and looked to see Maxie enter through the door at the opposite end. He is wearing a dark tailored suit. *Like I had a choice. However, I may be able to plead my case and dissuade him from his plan. It might be my only chance.* Bannai pulls out a chair for her and she sits down, noticing that her two guards have seated themselves on either side. The seating is as follows: Natoli on Kara's right, Laura on her left, Bannai next to her, and Maxie on the head of the table.
Two people came in with trays of food. It seemed that dinner for tonight was steak, salad and baked potatoes. When someone asks what you want to drink, Kara replied that water was fine. Everyone starts eating, enjoying the delicious food. Kara, however, was too worked up over her problem to really enjoy the food. *I wonder why he did this? Hn, Staring at my food is not going to get my point across.* As she picks at her food, Maxie unintentionally solved her problem by acting on his role as a good host. “You seem troubled, is everything alright?” He asks. Kara sighs, “Well, it's just that I don't really want to go home. Mind you that I'd rather travel through Hoenn and not stay someplace against my will. But staying here is much preferable to going back to my family.”
