Chapter 3: Do I know you?
The longer Ash stayed, the longer he did not want to leave. He had both his parents, an older sister who cared about him, nice pokemon, and his memories had returned for the most part.
The dream was fading away rapidly.
He liked being a gym leader.
He liked his life.
It was comfortable and nice.
So if it were a dream, sleeping would be the best course.
“Ash?” Karen called.
“What is it, mom?”
“Dance tonight.”
“Aw…” Ash moaned. He did not want some girl he didn't know to hit on him.
“Don't worry, Ash. I called Cat and told her to go with you.”
“…Cat.” Ash thought, before he smiled. Right. Catelyn. She had the prettiest red hair with gold streaks in it. They'd been friends for years.
“Really?”
< I wouldn't lie about this. > Karen said, smiling. < Get dressed. >
< Hai! >
About half an hour later, Catelyn arrived at their house to pick Ash up. “Come on!” They were going to fly via Dragonite.
Ash smoothed down his black silk pants and matching dark blue silk shirt and grinned.
“You look pretty tonight.”
Cat flushed slightly. She wore a dark blue jacket and skirt, threaded with silver scales and matching boots.
Cat flushed slightly. She wore a dark blue jacket and skirt, threaded with silver scales and matching boots.
“You look nice too Ash.”
They both climbed on the Dragonite and off it flew towards the brightly lit area of Indigo Plateau, where the event was.
As they landed, Catelyn turned to look at Ash. “Are you okay? You look kind of pale.”
“I'm fine.” Ash said, trying to hide a blush. It wasn't as if this was a date or anything… besides, they'd been friends for years. Even if it was a dream, right? Right!
“Okay.” Catelyn replied as she helped him down. Dragonite was recalled in a flash of blue light and they walked into the hall.
It was nicely decorated with ribbons of pink and cream ornamenting the walls, as little fripperies bobbed from the ceiling.
“A bit overly opulent, but otherwise nice.” Catelyn commented.
Ash nodded, smiling. “Fancy.”
“That's what I said.”
“Ok! Then I'll just translate everything into plain English.”
Cat laughed as they headed down the hall.
Cat laughed as they headed down the hall.
They were situated in a corner together, making up ghost stories by the light of a small candle, and semi-cuddling.
A few cupcakes and cookies lay on a tray next to them, along with two mugs of steaming hot cocoa, so that the storyteller would have a repast when he or she needed a break.
“Aren't they cute?” Karen asked Morty.
Morty smiled. “Yes, in their own way. Best to start off slow, after all.”
“Mm-hmm. Where's Sabrina?”
Morty gestured to where she and a teenager in a mask were sitting on a windowsill and sharing a soda.
“Well, never thought she would hook up with Will?”
“Me neither, but they are both Psychic trainers.”
“True.”
Ash munched on a vanilla coated cupcake; while Catelyn finished up her tale of `the misadventures of Connie the Crazy Chipmunk'.
He couldn't help giggling though. It was a very cute story.
“And so, Connie the Chipmunk, after she had been blasted off from the cave of the midnight sun, landed back home in the tree that made up her home, where everything was its old self, down to the butternut hulls on the floor. The end.”
Ash clapped.
Catelyn picked up a mug and took a few sips. “Cool! There are mini marshmallows in here.”
“Yay!” Ash cheered. “Okay, my turn next.”
His eyes closed over as he tapped into the psychic realm. Often, he was able to see other pasts, what had happened before.
“Well… once upon a time, there was a girl named Catelyn.”
Catelyn raised her eyebrows. “A story about me?”
“Yep!” Ash said. “Where was I? Oh yes. She was the only child of two rich aristocrats named Thomas and Marion Vongard…”
As the story continued, Catelyn's mind wandered off. It all seemed so familiar, even though her life was nothing like Ash described. Strange…
“… And so, they lived happily ever after. Until they were reborn again.” Ash finished.
(And in case anyone was wondering, he was telling `Dragons' Love' to her)
Catelyn dabbled with a hankie at her eyes. “Wow… that was touching, Ash.”
Ash grinned. “I'm glad you liked it.” He felt kind of melted himself.
They helped themselves to more cookies and sat in silence for a bit.
However, nothing good can stay, including romantic moments.
“Ash!”
Ash paled. * Misty exists in this dimension?! *
Sure, soon enough up came a redhead dressed in a purple mini-dress. “There you are! Let's dance!”
Ash glared. “I was enjoying myself thank you very much.”
“How dare you speak that way to me! Just because your gym is more powerful than mine…”
“Hi, Kas.” Catelyn said. “Still training Magikarps?”
Ash blinked. * Kas? *
Ash blinked. * Kas? *
“It's Kasumi!”
“Whatever.” The other girl replied. “Besides, my dragons can beat your water types any day.”
Ash thought of something. “Is it true you have a team of six Magikarp?”
Kasumi scowled. Ash grinned. “Well, if you can raise them all to Gyarados, I'll dance with you. Sound fair?”
Kasumi scowled. Ash grinned. “Well, if you can raise them all to Gyarados, I'll dance with you. Sound fair?”
`Grr…”
“Basically never than.” Cat grinned.
“Yep.”
Kasumi left the corner in a grumpy rage!
