So, if you've actually watched Prétear, then you remember how Hayate kissed Himeno, right? Well what if that wastn't a kiss of true love? Who REALLY loves Himeno? Or is more than one person in love with Himeno? Back to what REALLY happens . . . .

Himeno didn't remember the kiss from Hayate. Kei figured that was a good thing. He didn't want her to. Kei was fed up that people thought he was some weird queer that was self-obsessed. He cared for Hayate as a friend, and would sacrifice his life to protect any one of the Leafe Knights. But he had harboured feelings of affection for Himeno. Kei wanted to tell Himeno SO badly how he felt, but had not the courage to do it.

~Kei decided to reach Himeno through Mawata~

"Hey, Mawata! You wanna come shopping with me after school today?" asked Himeno.

"Oh, sure! I need to get out and around. Thanks for asking! I'll wait for you after school right outside the gate, okay?"

"Sure thing, Mawata!"

During school all day, Mawata was kept spotting Himeno's friend Kei out of the corner of her eye. He was always waiting outside the school. So during Mawata's recess period, she found him and pulled him aside.

"Are you following me for any reason? Because you're starting to scare me."

"I . . . . um . . . . I need to ask you something about Himeno. It's important to me . . . . "

"Yes, what is it?" replied Mawata curiously.

"How deeply in love is Himeno with Hayate?" asked Kei nervously.

"Eww. You sicko - I know what you want - you are in love with Hayate aren't you?" guessed Mawata. "No never mind, that was cruel. I shouldn't have said such a thing. What is it?"

"I . . . . well I really want to tell Himeno how I feel, but everyone mistakes me for some weird queer guy. It's just that I have long hair. I cant do anything about it. I like it anyways."

"Oo. Kei. You. Um. Well, I will get it across to Himeno somehow, You can count on me."

"Thank you. I appreciate your help."

After school at the mall . . . . shopping on a street (you know, a strip mall?)

"Oh! Mawata! Look at this cute bikini! Wouldn't Hayate LOVE me in it?" screeched Himeno.

"Actually, I think Kei would love it even more. He told me something during my recess period today that I shouldnt rush into, but Himeno, he . . . . well . . . . he loves you! I think he loves you even more than Hayate does. He was on the edge of tears just telling me, and I'm your stepsister. Please, Hayate loves you, but not as badly as Kei does. Hopefully you can return Kei's feelings of affection. I really hope so, Himeno."

So the sisters continued shopping, completely forgotten what Mawata had said. But Mawata could see Kei from the corner of her eye everytime she searched the skies.

Back at the Awayuki home . . . .

"Oh, Hayate. I missed you so much today. I went shopping with Mawata, and you'll never believe what I bought. It's so cute, isn't it?" said Himeno.

Himeno walked out of the bathroom in the new bikini she bought. She went up to Hayate and he picked her up and swung her around in the air. As she looked out her doorway (Hayate was facing so he coudn't see the doorway) Kei walked by. Himeno winked, and mouthed the words "Wait in your room" and Kei winked back, but Himeno thought she saw a tear on Kei's face.

"Um, Hayate? Could you put me down for a sec? There's something we need to talk about . . . . . It's Kei. Kei is madly in love with me. And I want to return his love, but I love you so much, and I just don't want you to be mad. I feel really bad for Kei. No one loves him the way he loves me, and it just makes me want to cry. Oh, Hayate, please forgive me! I know I shouldn't want to love two people at once, but Kei just melted my heart when I found out. And I wanted to let you know --- "

"Himeno, it's all right. Kei has told me about this; I already know. I don't mind if you love him and me at the same time, just as long as I can always look at you in the same way, and think to myself 'Gee, that's the girl that's in love with me!' And I don't want to let you go, and I was afraid of that before, but now I realize that sometimes a person is put in this situation, Himeno. Go ahead, love Kei the way you love me, but promise that you will always come back to me, TulipHead."

"Oh, Hayate! Of cour---" squeaked Himeno as Hayate kissed her. Then he pushed her away and said, "Now go, Kei is waiting for you."

In Kei's room at the Awayuki home

"Kei? Where are you? It's me, Himeno! KEI???? Hello?" Himeno looked around the room to find Kei next to his bed, crying. "Kei, what's the matter?"said Himeno. She took his chin in her hand, and picked up his face. "Tell me, what's wrong?"

"I was a fool."

"Why say that, Kei? I don't think you're a fool."

"Yes," sobbed Kei. "I was a fool to think that you could ever love me. Maybe I am just a weird queer that couldn't possibly be loved by anyone."

"STOP IT! You are so negative. Now I'm not going to say what I was going to say. And it would have made you happy to hear it. So this is what you get instead:"

Himeno took Kei's face and kissed him on the lips like Kei couldn't imagine. His heart was soaring. He was hoping to get the courage to ask Himeno out to dinner, or something small like that, and here she was, already doing something that Kei thought was never going to happen. Then Kei realized: "What am I doing? This girl is kissing me and giving me all of her love, and I'm just sitting here practically watching her do it." Kei couldn't resist anymore. He took Himeno's face away from his. Himeno started to cry. He brushed the tears away. "I love you, Himeno," he said.

"You're leaving me now, aren't you? Now that you got your kiss, you're going back to Leafenia, and I will have no one. PLEASE DON'T GO!" Himeno jumped on Kei and pinned him to the ground in the most loving hug she could give. Kei just layed there as his heart melted away as the girl he loved was sitting on top of him. He pushed Himeno away from the hug. Tears poured out of his eyes.

"No, I would never leave unless you wanted me to. I would do anything for you. That's why I love you." Kei laughed. "Did you know that I was crying when you came in because," more tears spilled out, onto Himeno's face, gazing up at him. "I didn't think you would love me. I was trying to work up the courage to ask you out to dinner, and now you're kissing me, and doing things that I never would have even had the courage to do if we were going out." Kei couldnt control himself any longer. He wanted to kiss Himeno so badly, but he could see the longing in her eyes that she wanted him to finish her story. So he went on, "And I was afraid of rejection, so I reached out to Mawata to tell you about my love for you. And when you two were shopping, I was following you, just because I wanted to see your face again. I've been in Leafenia for so long, and I couldn't stay there any longer because all I could think about was you. And I won't leave, and you can still love Hayate, as long as you'll always come back to me, too. I know Hayate said the same thing to you. And we both love you so much, and there is no one else that we would want to love. And . . . . "

"Oh, Kei, I can't listen to this any more.This is just breaking my heart at how pathetic this story is. I need to go." And Himeno changed out of the bathing suit (not in front of Kei of course!) and left the house, soon to return.
