A Fanfiction Guide For Newbie's - Part One - The Japanese Yen
One of the most glaring error's in many stories out there is
the lack of knowledge about the Japanese Yen. The Japanese Yen is not
worth the same amount as an American Dollar. Our friend Ranma will tell
us more about the Yen. Ranma?
Ranma: Yeah, yeah. Anyhow, knowledge of the Japanese Yen is
essential to determine how much Nabiki is gonna try an scam out of...
For those American's out there, an American Dollar, as a general rule, is
worth around 120 Japanese Yen. Many stories with me in it have me not
being able to pay 2,000 yen. Come on people, I ain't that poor!
Thank you Ranma, for that interesting information. However,
just knowing how much a Japanese Yen is worth compared to an American
Dollar isn't enough. You also have to know how much items in Japan cost.
Goods and services in Japan, compared to the rest of the world's
developed countries, cost more than anywhere else in the world. There
are a few exception's however. For example, a package of Yu-Gi-Oh cards
in Japan only costs 150 Yen, excluding any taxes that may be enforced.
That costs around $1.25 in American Currency. That is cheap, compared
to the American price of $3.29. However, like I said, there are only a
few exceptions. As another example, the average cost of a haircut in
Japan costs anywhere from $50-$60 in American currency. Foods tend to
cost more, such as Apples, which can range from $3-$5 a pound in American
currency.
This is only a brief overview of the Japanese Yen and its value.
The history of it's value will be covered in later sections. If you
would like to learn more about the Japanese Yen, you can do reseaarch
on the internet of go to your local library for more details.
Authors Note: This is intended to be a brief overview of several things
that tend to be overlooked in many stories, and is intended to be a
helpful guide to newbies and veteran's alike who write fanfiction.
Ranma 1/2 is not owned by me, they are owned by Takahashi-san.
