Ranma 1/2 Fan Fiction ❯ Heart of Glass ❯ The Scar ( Chapter 1 )
Disclaimer: I do not own the Ranma characters cuz they belong to Rumiko Takahashi (A genius!) but I do own Yayoi (Ya-yoi)
"Good Morning Class!" The teacher walked into the classroom breaking up the argument that was going to ensue between Ranma and Akane over who knows what. "I would like to announce that we have a new student, so please despite her appearance and rebellious nature, treat her like you would any other student." The teacher stated.
"Well, that's not a nice thing to say about a person just because they completely refuse to wear the girls' version of the school uniform…" A Gentle voice came from a person in the door way. They looked at the girl and didn't know what to think, she had a huge Wok on her back and her hair had been styled to hide her face. And her clothes consisted of the boys' black slacks and the shirt had been torn at the bottom and worn almost like a kimono and the torn piece held it shut. "My name is Yayoi Yamazaki, I originally came from China, but since I was young I had been traveling around." She stated not shifting the hair on her face. The teacher gave her an assigned seat near the back of the room unsure if his nerves would be able to handle her. He started the lesson and everyone immediately started paying attention.
Soon lunch time came around and Yayoi sat by the window playing with the lunch she made. She wasn't hungry because eating the food would only remind her of the loneliness she feels whenever she sees happy couples holding hands or having a lover's tiff. She always convinced herself that she didn't need a man to be happy but for some reason she couldn't find it within herself to be truly happy… she was lonely.
"Hi!" Akane pulled a chair next to her desk the same time Ukyo had.
"Hello."
"So, you're the one staying at the Tendo Dojo?"
"Yes, I am… And you are?"
"Ukyo Kuonji… One of Ranma's many suitors I suppose." She said. "Aren't you going to eat your lunch?"
"Not really. I'm not really hungry."
"Good then Ranma could have something to eat! He didn't make a lunch like I warned him and look at him!" Akane gloated as Ranma sat in a corner pouting.
"Don't give it to him please?"
"Well it'll only go to waste and it looks good."
"I know but I made it during one of my down moments…"
"That's a down moment?" Ukyo frowned.
"You don't…" She tried to explain but Akane had already taken off with the food. "Understand…" Yayoi sighed putting her head on the table. That situation won't end too well; she could see it already, the guy trying to train while being completely depressed. She glanced at him and he hesitantly took the food before smiling in approval. At least it was delicious… No sooner after he finished eating it was obvious on his face… depression and loneliness. She shook her head slowly trying to think of a way to bring herself back to even being remotely cheered up by dinner time.
"Finally…" Akane sighed as she, Ranma, and Yayoi walked home. She glanced at Ranma who seemed distressed. "What's wrong with you, Ranma?"
"Nothing…" He folded his arms behind his head bumping his arm on Yayoi's wok that had been replaced on her head as soon as they turned one of the many corners.
"Ranma… you've been acting strange since lunch…" Akane moved to let a couple holding hands walk back and for some reason Ranma felt his heart drop immensely. "Ranma…" Akane looked him in the eye with worry all over her face… for some reason that brought peace to him.
"Really nothing's wrong… trust me." He said giving her a soft smile.
"Okay…" She said hesitantly and kept walking noticing Yayoi's discomfort. "Are you okay?"
"Just… fine." Yayoi said suddenly a person jumped out and attacked Ranma.
"Saotome Ranma! Today is the day you die!" A dagger went flying in his direction and Ranma had been completely pinned to the wall next to him.
"Mousse…" Ranma said gently as the guy landed with his hand tucked neatly away in the sleeves of his robes. Yayoi lowered her wok so it was on her back once more.
"Mousse! You never beat Ranma! Give up fight to win me. You no win my love!" Shampoo called out nearly ran Yayoi over with her bike only Yayoi jumped and landed gracefully on the handle bars of the bike. "Who you and what you doing?" Shampoo asked the girl with the bangs covering her face. Yayoi seemed to inspect Shampoo's face before flipping backwards and stood between Mousse and Ranma.
"I have no time for this!" Yayoi sighed before flicking Mousse's nose making him tense in all aspects. "Let's go!" She began pulling the daggers out of Ranma's clothes and walked down the street. Mousse stood there stunned watching the three disappear.
"What did you do?" Akane asked.
"Froze his joints…" Yayoi said simply before entering the home she now would be staying at.
"Froze his joints?"
"It's complicated to explain only because I knew how to do that since I was five. Paralysis is my specialty but I'm good at anything else." She said. "I guess I should go shopping for dinner." She sighed sitting at the table watching Ranma. 'Well, at least he's got someone to help him get over it quickly….' She smiled a bit before having money handed to her. She looked at Soun and gave him a small smile. "I'll be back in two hour's time to start." She said standing only to have Akane follow with P-chan who had been asleep under the coffee table.
"Wait up!" Akane said.
"You didn't have to come…"
"I wanted to! P-Chan's been stuck inside the house all day with my dad and Ranma's dad and he needs some air."
"P-Chan??" Yayoi turned to her with her bangs not moving. She looked at the small pig. "He's so cute! Can I hold him?" She asked pushing her bangs out of her face letting Akane see her face which had been full of smiles for that moment. Akane nearly gasped when she saw the girl's face… she was beautiful. Black hair that had violet highlights if the light hit it just right, beautiful Violet eyes with a slight scar under her left one but it was barely noticeable.
"You're pretty… why do you wish to hide your face?"
"You didn't see the scar did you?"
"The one under your eye?"
"No…" She turned her head to the side and right along the hairline on the side of her face. "It's one of several. When I was young I was supposed to have been training to become a better warrior and I went on a retreat of a sort. A bear came into the camp site and well, the person I went with did nothing to help but just watch as I had been attacked. I managed to crawl away only onto to an unstable ledge and I fell. I don't remember what happened after that but I woke up in the care of a person and I faked amnesia just so I didn't have to go back and deal with the one who jus t watched me die without a care in the world." Hatred burned in her voice before she stopped and sat down.
"Yayoi?"
"I'm sorry… I told you too much and I managed to get myself angry… Just let me relax for a moment then we can go."
