Jun smirked. Anna's little rant had shaken the men. "You see, I still control the majority of stock in my father's company. I don't want to see it run into the ground. I want to change it. To watch it prosper. You all have a choice. Help me or leave."

There was a murmur across the board, and finally the consensus came in. "Very well. We will see what we can do."

"Good, because I have a lot of changes to make. First, I want you to contact Michael Green and get him started on the new building. That will be the cornerstone of where we begin." With that he took Anna's hand and led her out of the conference room and too his father's office. Shutting the door behind them he nearly collapsed against the door as he felt his knees buckle.

Anna leaned back against the wall looking at her wrists. Would they really tell the press that she was covered in bruises and that they were having sex? How would they know anyway!? It's not like they have cameras in her house...right? She pulled at her sleeves to hide her bruises.

"Thank you for getting my dad this job back. It keeps him closer to home," she said with a light smile.

Jun shook his head. "I owe it to him. It's the least that I could do. Besides, I wasn't lying when I said that your father's building is going to be the cornerstone of the new enterprise." Still, he had bigger things to worry about. If that did leak to the press, even if it was just in hearsay, it wouldn't end well. They would take it and spew it all over the television, radio, and newspapers. They would ruin everything.

"Jun..." Anna looked out the large window and looked at the city. They were so high up. "Maybe...you and I should...cool it for a while. Just until you get the company on its feet again. You staying in my house when everyone knows we are together...it really does look as bad as it sounds. I could talk to my parents and let them move back into your house and you can hire someone more qualified to be you secretary." Was she breaking up with him? Her eyes started to water. Why did it sound like she was breaking up with him.

Jun's mouth opened, but no words came out...not at first. "I...don't care what they say," he said. Each word was slow and deliberate as if he was trying to think of what to say. "You are more important to me than this company ever could be. This company gives me money, but that's it. I have all the money I could ever need, but you give me so much more than that."

Anna placed her hand on the window. She was debating about running at it with all her might and letting it carry her to death. "This company means more to you than you say. I hear it in your voice when you talk about it. This company was your father's and you will always seek to honor him. That means taking over the company and making it great. That's important to you. I know it is." She turned to him. "Otherwise I wouldn't have seen that fire in your eyes like I did in the meeting. Being here...doing this...it's important because it's what your father was preparing you for." She had to turn away again. The water in her eyes was over flowing and she was crying. But this was the right thing to do. She had to think of Jun's future. This company would give him a good life, so he had to be smart about it. And that meant she had to give him up if only for a little while.

Jun looked away. Yes, this was important to him; but couldn't she see that she was more important than any of that? Walking up behind her, he wrapped his arms around her. "I'm not going to let you go," he told her.

She should have said no. She should have told him she wasn't giving him a choice and just walk away. She should have removed his hands and told him he was no longer welcomed in her life anymore. But...she didn't. She couldn't. She loved him and she wanted to be selfish. Would it cost him his life like it did Adam? Was she willing to risk it? Was he?

"Ok..." she whispered.

Jun smiled into her neck. "I'm going to have them change around the office. This is my father's office...not mine, not yet. You'll have your own area too. No matter what happens, we'll face it together."

So, this was why she purposed. For moments like this. How could she not? His arms fit so perfectly around her body and his words hit each part of her heart...parts she thought were broken or lost or nonexistent. Was this what perfect was really like? How long did she have for it to end?

"I have a question," he said, his voice soft and determined. "Last night you did something. I wasn't certain if it was because of the fever, but you...well...you asked me to marry you." Did she even remember it? He couldn't be certain so he had to ask. He had to take charge of the situation. That's what his father would say. "You wanted to elope."

So he finally said something. "Yes," she stated simply. She knew how she felt, she wanted to know how he felt.

"Did you mean it? I mean, do you really want to?" Now was the time for the moment of truth.

Anna was quiet for a long time. What would her parent say? What would the press do? They were so young and they had only been together for a snap of the finger. Was this what she really wanted? To be tied to him forever? She couldn't help but think of all the teen marriages that had ended because in the end...they didn't know the other well enough to promise forever. Was she willing to risk everything for something she might later regret?

"Yes."

Jun's breath caught in his throat. Turning her around in his arms so that he could look at her, he quickly pressed the back of his hand to her forehead to make sure that she wasn't feverish or suffering from delusions. Only once he was confident that she was indeed being serious and her mind wasn't under duress did he finally smile.

"Mrs. Anna Higarashi," he whispered, testing her name on his lips. He liked the sound of it.

"Breathe..." Anna whispered. She had to remind herself to use her lungs as she stood in front of him. He really wanted to do it. He didn't seem scared at all....and she was terrified.

Jun let his hand caress her face. Gently pressing his lips to her's, he ran his tongue over her lips as he pulled back. "If you are positive...if you are certain this is what you want; and...that you love me. Then I will see what can be done." He hesitated before adding. "But...I want your parents to know. I don't want them to think that I'm stealing their daughter from them without their permission."

Anna didn't take her eyes off him. She was still in shock that he actually wanted to do it. With her eyes still locked on his she reached in her pocked and flipped open her phone. She pushed one button, her mother was speed dial. Slowly, she brought the phone to her ear and her mother said hello. Anna said nothing. Her mother started calling her name. She was panicking. Finally Anna spoke while her eyes swirled into Jun.

"I'm getting married."

Jun froze. He hadn't exactly meant that she had to do it now. It wasn't as if they were going to get married that day. He could hear her mother on the other end. She was getting rather excited, but he couldn't tell if it was the good kind of excited or the 'I'm going to kill that boy' kind of excited.

"Don't do anything until I get home!" Her mother squealed. "She's getting married!" she screamed to someone in the room with her. There was clapping. "I'm on my way! I'm packing! Don't tell your dad! I want to tell him! Oh my God! I want a big wedding! Lots of flowers and...oh Anna! I'm so happy."

Anna just stood there, completely dumbfounded. Why in the world would a mother be happy her sixteen year old daughter was getting married to someone who she only met two months ago!? Then Anna remembered...her mother and father were high school sweethearts from ninth grade until graduation. They got married on the day of their graduation. Her mother was pregnant with Anna at the time.

"Anna?" her mother said. "Anna, breathe!"

And so she did.

Jun stood there, sharing the same dumbfounded expression on his face. His English was still deplorable, but her mother sounded...happy. He had to remember if Anna had told her what he thought she had. Yes, that did sound right. Yet, her mother was happy. Were all Americans as confusing as this family was?

"Hang up the phone, Anna, but don't stop the breathing thing, ok?" Anna nodded as if her mother could see her. "Oh! And tell Jun I love him so much and he better have gotten you a big ring! I love you, Anna!" Again Anna nodded then hung up her phone.

"Just so we're clear. You did tell your mother that you were getting married right? To me?" Jun couldn't believe it. He still couldn't get over the fact that she sounded happy. "What did she say?"

"She wants a big wedding...with lots of flowers...and a big ring..." Anna said. She needed to sit down. Using the wall as a guide she moved to a chair and sat down. "Oh my God...I'm getting married...."

Jun quickly moved to her side. "Breathe Anna," he told her. Biting his lip, he looked down at her. "Once again, we don't have to if you don't want to. It's your call, Anna. I just want to make you happy. If that means not getting married that's fine."
Anna looked at him. "Are you kidding me? My mother and father are probably going to the airport right now and my mother is already planning my wedding." She just needed to relax. This is what she wanted. "Yes..." she assured herself. "This is what I want."

Jun was leaning against his desk, trying to absorb all of this. "Yes, I'm vaguely familiar with western customs of marriage." Biting his lip he stared at her. "Would you mind...if we had a Japanese ceremony? I'll still have a ring, of course. It's just that...." He didn't want to tell her. It would sound stupid no matter how he put it. First off, it would just look better for them to have a Japanese ceremony, but the other reason is that he had always thought that having a wedding like that would be....well...nice.

Anna sighed. "I don't know the first thing about a Japanese wedding...do you think that maybe we could do a mixture?" she asked.

He thought about it for a moment. He was already breaking every other rule his father set before him.... "Sure," he told her. "I'm certain we could manage a mixture."

"If you aren't comfortable with that, Jun, I can look up some things on the Japanese culture and we can do the traditional Japanese wedding," she said.

Jun shook his head. "No, it's fine," he told her. "A mixture will be easier for all of us." He gave her a smile when she looked confused. "I don't have to offer as many gifts to the gods if we do a mixed wedding."

Taking her hand, he slowly pulled her up into his arms. "I'll let you and your mom decide when you want this to happen, but I'm pretty certain she won't be happy if she comes home and you don't have a ring." Cupping her face with his hands, he smiled warmly. "So...want to go shopping?"

Anna was nervous. This was all happening so fast. "Jun...my family doesn't have the kind of money to pay for a wedding...I think maybe we should just elope...." She didn't want to put her family in dept.

Jun caressed her face. "Your mother wants a big wedding and that's what she'll get," he told her. "I'll take care of the finances, so don't worry about that."

Anna placed her hand on his chest. "I can't allow you to pay for everything. You're not the only one getting married."

Jun just smirked at this. "Very well. You can pay for some, though the portion you pay will just be added to what I'll be paying your father to build the new building."

Anna smiled. "You are being unreasonable."

"Yes, perhaps so, but for some reason whenever I'm around you I find it hard to think clearly." His lips curved into a smile as he kissed her.

Anna smiled into the kiss. So this was really going to happen. So much for eloping. She pulled back from her and grabbed his hands. "We should go get a ring before school lets out. If anyone sees us buying one, the press will be all over us," she said pulling him to the door.

Jun laughed, but his laughter quickly died when he got out to the main hall. He tried to be as presentable as possible as they walked out through the building. It wasn't until they got to the parking area that he started laughing once more as they all but raced to the car. This was happening. This was really going to happen. He couldn't believe it. He was getting married....

Getting into the car, he looked at her once more before they started for the closest jewelry store.

Anna walked in the jewelry store and instantly wanted to run. Where the heck would they begin? Of course Jun had probably been in here more than once. She had seen in his room that he had jewelry. Then again, he was rich so he was use to it. Someone walked over to them and started talking to Jun. He let the woman know he wanted an engagement ring for Anna.

The woman looked at the two of them, obviously surprised. "Really?" she said, not bothering to hide her surprise.Jun sighed. "Yes," he told her. Looking at Anna, he guided her to the rings. "Take your pick," he whispered. "Whatever you desire is yours."

Anna paled. "You are joking right? I don't know anything about rings..."

Jun smiled. "You make it sound like I do." Letting his fingers dance across the glass. He stopped on one ring. He didn't bother to look at the price tag. "Please, may we see that one?"The lady nodded and took it out for them to see. Jun held the ring for Anna to see. "What about this one?"

Anna looked it over. The diamond was large but not so large that you could see it from space. Honestly, she didn't care what her ring looked like. She just wanted Jun to be happy and since he picked that one out, that was the one she was getting. "Ok," she said and handed it back to the lady.

Her eyes scanned over the glass as the lady was about to ring up the ring. Suddenly Anna gasped. "Wait!" she yelled. The lady froze like Anna was going to shoot her. Anna pointed behind the glass. The ring she was looking as was the same size as the one Jun picked out only the band was delicately crafted with designs and had smaller diamonds surrounding it. The ring stood along in the case and Anna knew it was most likely the most expensive ring in the store. However, it wouldn't hurt to try it on. "Can I try that on?"

Jun's eyes traveled to the ring. The lady looked at him and he nodded. Putting the ring down she picked up the one that Anna had pointed at and handed it to her. Jun just stood back with interest as he watched her look at the ring. That was the one.

Anna slipped it on her finger. It was the perfect size. She couldn't help but smile. It was perfect, she knew it. She didn't dare look at the price as she slipped it back off her finger and handed it back to the lady. "Thank you," she said.
