When Anna walked in the door. She collapsed on the floor. Her mother got to her knees in front of her and hugged her. "You don't have a curfew."
Anna laughed. "I had to get out of there at some point. How did you know I said that?"
"You were live."
Anna paled. "What!?!"
"You did so well, Anna. I'm so proud of you." She helped Anna stood.
"Is Jun mad at me? I know I said some things that I'm sure he would have rather kept private," she said nervously.
"Go upstairs and ask him yourself." She put a mask on Anna's face. "But don't take that off because I can't deal with two sick kids.
Anna smiled even though her mother couldn't see it behind the mask. She walked up the stairs and into Jun's room. She smiled at him. "In case you can't tell," she said pointing to the medical mask, "I'm smiling."
Jun looked at her. He was pale, but he scooted over to make room for her to sit. "You did really well today," he told her. There were some thing which he would've preferred she not say, but they could talk about that later. "I'm proud of you."
Anna shrugged. "I was nervous as hell and I think they actually liked me towards the end. I hope I didn't upset you with anything I said," she said and laid back on the bed with him. She took his hand in hers as they stared at the ceiling.
Jun was silent. "There were some things that I would've preferred you not to say; but there's nothing we can do about that now." He smiled at her and squeezed her hand. "What's done is done; and for the time being you've managed to take on the press all by yourself."
Anna smiled again. She nodded to herself. "Tell me what I said that you didn't like. I'll need to know for the next time."
"Well, for one just talking about the possibility of me hitting you. I wasn't exactly fond of that little part of your speech."
Anna turned her head to him. "They asked the question so I gave them an answer. If I didn't say what I did they would go on and on about it until I eventually would have lost my cool and said something much worse."
"I understand that. Like I said, I didn't like it but what's done is done." Jun's face softened as he looked at her. "Other then that you did wonderful."
Anna smiled again. She pushed her lips to his even though there was a mask there. Afterward. She laughed about it and sat up. "I'm calling you a doctor before my mom comes in here with her herbal soup. Trust me, you'll thank me later." She stood and went down stairs while calling the doctor. She found her mother making the soup. "Put it away woman, you'll kill him with that stuff."
Her mother froze like a deer in headlights.
Jun groaned. He hated doctors. He'd spent enough time of his life with them. Still, he was in no condition to argue. If he had anymore of her mother's herbal tea he was going to throw up...again...but not because he was sick. He was just going to throw up.
His phone rang. There was no rest for the weary. It was working asking when he could be in at the office. Tomorrow was Sunday he could do it. "Yeah, no even if I'm not well I'll still come in. Yes, I'll look it over," he assured them.
Anna walked back upstairs when the doctor came over. She watched him check Jun while her mother stood off to the side with Anna. Anna nervously tapped her foot on the floor. She hadn't been to a doctor since she was very little so she didn't have any idea what he was doing to Jun.
"Is he going to be ok?" Anna finally asked through her mask.
The doctor nodded after a few moments. "He's come down with a virus. Nothing life threatening. Just make sure he gets lots of rest for about three to four days; and that he doesn't do anything strenuous." He gave Anna some pills. "And make certain that he takes those once every four hours. If he doesn't this could get worse and become something serious."
Jun pretended not to hear the doctor. He had a business to run. Rest and stress came with the job.
Anna saluted the doctor and her mother walked him out Anna took out a few pills and handed them to Jun then some water. She watched him take them then she sat next to him. "So I'm thinking about handcuffing you to the bed so you don't leave because I know that look on your face. It's the 'I don't care I'm going to do what I want to do' look. It's patented by Jun Higarashi himself." She laughed lightly. "Seriously, I'll sit on you if you think about moving." She took his phone and laptop. "You can have these back when your better."
Jun's eyes widened as she took his electronics. "But I have reports to look over. Deals to close. People to see. I can't just sit in bed all day." Already he was starting to get up just to get his stuff back. "People's jobs depend on me!"
Anna pushed him roughly back on the bed. "I swore I just said I would sit on you. No moving unless you are going to the bathroom." She moved over to his desk and opened his laptop. "I'll do the work and stuff. After all, I proved that I'm cut out for it. And I'm your secretary. Just get some rest, Jun. I'll take care of it all."
Jun didn't have much choice at that point. Closing his eyes he laid back on the bed. "I still have to be at the office tomorrow for a board meeting," he muttered. That was the one thing she couldn't do for him. Not that typing on a laptop was exactly strenuous, but he didn't want to push her too far. He'd let her do what she could then he'd do the rest.
"Ever heard of video chat? Well that's how you are going to that meeting. You will sit in bed while I hook things up. If they don't like it then they can sue you. But I highly doubt that would happen," she said while her eyes stayed on the computer screen. "Don't fight with my, Jun. Because you will always lose. Always."
Jun smirked. "We're already fighting like a married couple." The pills were starting to make him sleepy. Damn doctor. He should have bribed him to give him a clean bill of health.
Anna looked over at him. "Yeah, but even if we were married, you would still lose. Get some rest. You're going to need it for the meeting," she said as she started typing on his laptop. The work wasn't too complex, but there was a lot of it. She would be up all night.
She didn't have to tell him twice, much to his regret. Within minutes he was sleeping soundly as the medicine tried to fight off whatever virus had taken hold of him. He slept till nearly ten at night; and when he finally woke he was wired. Sitting up slowly, he saw that Anna was still working on his laptop. Stifling a yawn, he slowly got up and walked over to her. Massaging her shoulders he looked over to see what she was doing. "You should take a break," he told her. He was going to have to go down and get something to drink. His throat was raw and he needed to take his medicine again.
Anna pointed to the bed with her eyes still on the laptop. "Bed. Now," she said. "Mom! Jun's up! Can you get him something to eat and drink! Not that herbal crap either!"
"Yes, Dear!" her mother called up to her.
"Bed, Jun," she said and started typing again.
Jun sighed. "I'm not helpless," he muttered. Pointing at the screen he noted an error. "You're tired. You're going to make mistakes if you don't at least take a break. Let me look over what you've done so far and then you can start to work again." He didn't want her to work herself to death because of him. She hadn't even done her homework yet because she'd been so busy helping him. There was no way he was going to let her schoolwork suffer because of this. "Typing and looking over documents isn't exactly strenuous."
Anna stopped and turned to him. "I didn't make that error, your company did. I'm going over it and fixing them because your previous secretary for the company really sucked. I'm not that tired. I've been drinking my mother's energy tea. And as I said before, until you are 100% better, no work for you." She took off her mask. "Don't tell mom," she whispered and leaned up. She kissed him lightly then put her mask back on. "If you get better I'll do a lot more than that."
Anna's mom cam up stairs with Jun some food and some juice. She gave Anna some more tea. "Thank you, mom," she said taking the tea.
Her mother pushed Jun back to the bed and placed the tray in his lap. "Eat up, you will need the strength," she said. She walked over to Anna and kissed her head then left. Anna went back to work.
Jun looked at Anna and then to her mother. There was no winning with this family. Besides that...sex was a powerful motivator to get better. He ate the food and took his medicine like a good little boy. Despite the fact that he'd been sleeping most of the day, the medicine was already starting to make him drowsy once more. At this rate he'd be lucky if he was even awake for the meeting tomorrow. Yawning, he sat up, determined not to go back to sleep. If Anna was going to stay up he could too. All he really had to do was figure out which one of the pills he was taking was making him drowsy. If he could eliminate that one he'd be fine.
Anna stood and stretched then grabbed Jun's tray and put it to the side. "Lay down, Jun. Sleep is a natural healer. If you don't sleep, you won't get better." She pushed him back down and tucked him in. She moved next to him and laid down. "I'll take a break here and lay with you for a bit, ok?"
Jun smiled. At least she was taking a break. Besides, she was hard to say no to. "Okay." Getting comfortable, he wrapped an arm around her to hold her close. Once he was laying down it was only a matter of minutes before the medication took full control and he was once more sound asleep.
Anna fought against it, but her eyes closed and she slowly drifted off with Jun. Her mother came upstairs and grabbed the tray then covered them both up and left. Anna slept for a few hours before her eyes fluttered open. She looked at the time and sighed. She didn't mean to fall asleep. Slowly, she moved Jun's arms from her and went back to the desk. With the extra hours of sleep in her, she would be able to finish the work before the sun was up...hopefully.
By the time the sun rose, Jun was already up and about. Anna was asleep at his laptop. She'd finished what she had to do and then apparently passed out. He smiled as he took a shower. He was feeling a lot better after sleeping the entire day. His stomach still felt slightly queasy so keeping food down wasn't easy, and he was still running a slight temperature, but at least he wasn't bed ridding like earlier. He felt at least 95% better. Popping his pills, he chugged them down with some water before going to wake Anna up.
"Wake up sleepy head," he said as he gently rubbed her back. "I need my laptop back."
Anna sat up slowly. Her neck hurt. Her body didn't agree with the way she had slept. Yawning, she nodded at him. "I'll hook it up for you." She stood and hooked up all the cords then set it up on his bed for him. "There you go. The meeting starts in a few. I already sent emails to the board members to let them know you will be on video cast. I got confirmation letters back from them. So you are good to go."
Jun smiled and leaned in to kiss her cheek. He couldn't do much else thanks to her mask. "I don't know what I'd do with you," he said as he sat down on his bed to prepare for the meeting.
Anna smiled. "Think about that while I get a shower," she said then pushed a button. She waved to the board members. "Jun will be with you in a moment." She patted his shoulder then went to the bathroom.
Jun made certain that he at least made himself presentable before the meeting began. They were going over future projects as well as the direction that the company was going to go. The military contracts were starting to run dry, and Jun wanted to push the company in a new direction. Change was a big step, and a risky one but he believed they could do it. "The first thing I want to do is to buy out our competitor."
"Why? Our company is low on finances as it is. Doing something like that would nearly ruin us!"
"They're also having a hard time right now. If we buy them out and take control that means that any contracts going in or out will benefit us both. Not only will we be knocking out our major competition, but we can run the headline as us helping a company by giving it a fresh start. We'll make some modifications to the staff, but leave the company as it is. They can do their thing as long as its properly supervised. The press will eat it up as a good will mission. Frankly we could use some good publicity. So far the only good publicity we've had lately was when my fiancée saved all our asses at the new conference. I want to get more involved in the city and see what we can do from there."
Anna stood in the door way after her shower and listened. She walked over to him and sat next to him on the bed. "If you want good publicity, get involved in charities. Have blood drives. Plant some trees in a rundown park. There are a million things you could do to make yourself look good while helping others and increasing your profits."
Jun looked at her and nodded. "That's exactly what I tend to do. For far too long our company has just been known as the place which builds stuff that in turns blows stuff up. I want it to do more. We've got the technology and know how to do so much more than this. I want to show the world what we can do and create a legacy we can all be proud of."
"It's not going to be easy to simply change directions like you're suggestion."
"I didn't say it was going to be easy," Jun told them. "But we have to start somewhere." After a few more minutes of talking the meeting had come to an end. By the end of this week the documents would be finalized and they'd have bought out their major rival. Once that was through he was going to have to give a public statement about the company. Might as well go ahead and start working on his speech.
Anna smiled and closed the laptop. "I think that went really well. Can you imagine all the good you company will do with this change? So many people will benefit," she said. She stood. "Well, I have to get my homework done. Rest up. Maybe you'll be able to go to school tomorrow and I won't have to wear this mask anymore."
Jun looked at her as if she was joking. "Oh no...I suddenly feel ill. Far too ill to go to school," he said, laying back on the bed dramatically as if he was dying. Hey, he might own his own company, but he was still a teenager. A teenager who seriously hated school.
Anna tried not to laugh. "Oh no! I guess that means we can never have sex again! If you are too sick to go to school then you are too sick for all of this," she said gesturing to her body. "Too bad." She waved it off and started out the door.
Anna laughed. "I had to get out of there at some point. How did you know I said that?"
"You were live."
Anna paled. "What!?!"
