Finally Jun got to feel as if he was actually contributing for once. Taking the pen and paper from Mia, he wrote something down on it and handed it to her. It was a rather large figure, something which should be able to pay for two or three weddings if the need be. "Is that alright?" he asked in his normal monotonous tone, albeit slightly scratchy now.
Mai gasped and her hand went lightly over her chest. "Mr. Higarashi...this is a rather large sum...I don't think I...I don't think I will even get close to that number."
Anna grabbed the paper. She felt faint. "Jun! You have to be joking!"
Jun just shrugged. "I just wanted to ensure that you would have enough," he told them both. He wasn't certain how much it would cost. Better to go over then to not have enough.
"I think it's safe to say that it will not cost that much, but it's a relief to know I won't have to hold back. Ms. Green will have everything she wants," Mai smiled.
Anne put the paper down. "I think it's safe to say I'm marrying someone who has no limit on spending money..."
Mai and her mother laughed. "Shall we continue then?" Mai asked.
Anna nodded and they went on. After a few more hours, Mia said her goodbyes. She would stay in touch and meet them when needed. It was her responsibility to call around dress makers and kimono makers, as well as any other people to make sure Anna had exactly what she wanted. Anna sat back down on the couch while her mother went upstairs to call her husband and tell him what was going on. Anna looked at Jun.
"Did you really think I would spend that much on one day?"
Jun just smiled. "I just wanted to have everything covered." He squeezed her thigh before kissing her cheek. "This means a lot to your mother...and to you and to me."
Anna sighed. "I'll have to be your servant for years to pay off the wedding. Either that or give you a lot of blow jobs."
Jun's cheeks turned red. "I'm sure you'd look cute in a maids outfit...and the blow job thing sounds pretty good too."
Anna laughed. "Looks like you'll have to wait after the wedding though. Consider it a present," she teased. "Where do you want to go for a honeymoon?"
Jun shrugged. "It doesn't matter as long as it's just me, you, a bed, some handcuffs, a few kinky outfits, and a lot of free time."
Anna laughed again. "Well, we could go to the states. There are a lot of vacation areas. But if you can't go too far from the office, we could just go to Tokyo and camp out in a hotel for a few days."
"Tokyo sounds nice. I would love to go to the states, but we'll have to see how work is going then. Tokyo will probably be the best bet. We can get a large suit, order room service, live like gods for a little while." He smiled at the thought. That would be really be fun.
"Live like Gods?" Anna looked at him. "You're rich, Jun. You could live like a God every day. All you have to do is heir a few maids and you'll have exactly what the hotel has." She smiled. "But they have to be ugly maids otherwise I'll be in jail before the honeymoon."
Jun smirked. "Well you're already going to be my secretary. All I have to do is get you a maid costume and you can be my own personal maid." He kissed her again, nibbling on her lip. He wasn't certain he'd be able to keep himself off of her till the wedding.
Anna pulled Jun over her as she laid back on the couch. She dipped her tongue in his mouth while her hands cupped his back. It seemed like years since they had really been together. Of course with her mother there it made things difficult. But there was always Jun's house if they really needed an escape.
Jun ran his hands over her body, their tongues intertwined. He pressed his lips to her neck, then to her cheek, then to her collarbone. He would've kissed her further if her clothes hadn't stopped him. This was frustrating. He wanted to have her all to himself. Their wedding couldn't come fast enough.
"Anna, turn on the news now!" her mother yelled.
Anna shot up, nearly throwing Jun off her. Her mother was running down the stairs. Anna grabbed the remote and turned the T.V. on. Her mother was still on the phone with Anna's dad. Anna brought her hand to her mouth when she looked at the news. It showed a picture of Anna wearing the ring while pushing her hair behind her ear. She was smiling and it clearly showed both the bruise on her wrist as she pushed her hair back and the one on her forehead. The news woman was talking about how Jun might have asked Anna to marry him because he gave her a few bruises. It made a close up of Anna's bruises and then the ring. Not only did it say that Jun might beat on her, but they were still pushing the fact that Anna might be pregnant. They showed Anna's stomach from a picture they took at the kendo match. Supposedly she looked pregnant.
Anna's hand went to her stomach. "I don't look pregnant..."
Jun couldn't believe what he was hearing. "That's it," he muttered. Grabbing his cell phone, he did what he swore he'd never do. He called his attorney. "Yes, no, I want this off the air! None of that is true which means that it's slander. Yes, I understand. Fine then we'll buy the news company. Then they have to take it off the air."
He listened to more of what the lawyer said before finally sighing. "I won't have this go on. Okay.... Yeah, just call me back and let me know what you can do."
Closing his phone he looked back at Anna. "Well, as long as we refrain from rough sex and slipping and hitting our head we should be okay." He sat back down and sighed. "And no, you don't look pregnant," he assured her.
Anna blushed. Did he have to say rough sex in front of her mother? Anna's mother went on talking to Anna's dad and went back upstairs. They were upset about the whole thing and her mother was trying to explain to her dad that Jun didn't beat her and wasn't pregnant. Anna looked at Jun.
"This is really bothering you, huh? You would really buy the news station because of it?" She was a little taken back by it all, but she wasn't afraid. She knew the truth and she would gladly tell anyone if it meant for Jun to not be so upset.
Jun ran his hand through his hair and nodded. "Yeah, I would. I don't want people thinking that I beat you. That's just...well it's awful. I'd never hurt you."
Anna sighed. "I know. If you want I can go to the reporters and give them a statement. I don't mind. But...I don't want to sound harsh...but it really is easy for them to think you would hurt me. Your father hurt you and it normally runs in the blood to do something like that. It doesn't matter if I get a bruise ten years from now, they will still think you hit me. It's just how cruel the world is."
Jun nodded, but didn't say a word. Yes, because his father beat him he was likely to beat Anna. The thought alone made him sick to his stomach. Well, that and the fact that he was sick. Getting up, he quickly hurried to the bathroom where he spent the next ten minutes throwing up. During that time, his lawyer called to tell him that he couldn't do anything because it was covered under freedom of speech. Great, more good news. By the time he was done throwing up, his fever had spiked. It was around that time that the office called. They needed him to come in to make a statement about the accusations.
Anna pushed Jun to his room and took his keys. "I'll go to the office. I'll give them a statement. I'm going to be your wife so I should have some kind of say. There is no way you are leaving her with a fever. I'll be back in a few hours," she said. She kissed his cheek and passed her mother while going do the stairs. She was bringing Jun tea. "Watch him for me, ok?"
Her mother smiled and nodded. Anna grabbed her jacket and got in Jun's car. She started it and drove off towards Jun's office.
Jun groaned. "Tell your daughter she's crazy," he moaned. As soon as he said that he rolled over and threw up into his garbage pail. He tried to get up, but he her mother pushed him back down. "She's going to the lions."
Reporters were already waiting for Jun to come make his speech, so they were audibly surprised when they saw his car pull up and Anna step out.
Anna pushed through the crowd. She walked inside and took her jacket off. She walked up to a podium on a platform in a room where the reporters where led. Anna took a deep breath. "Jun is really ill at the moment so he couldn't come, however seeing as I am going to be his wife, I believe that I above anyone should get to say the truth. I'm not pregnant. If you want a doctor's statement on that, I'll gladly get on for you. Yes, Jun and I are engaged but not because you think he hit me." She blushed brightly. "The bruises on my wrists...well..." Cameras were flashing at her and microphones were in her face. "It's from an intimate night between Jun and I." Suddenly everyone started throwing questions at her. Anna couldn't hear them clearly.
Anna's declaration was played on the television. Jun watched it and it only made him more ill. Even though she was telling the truth the reporters were going at her as hard as they could. Pushing himself off of the bed he called for a taxi. He wasn't going to let her face that by herself.
"Jun!" Anna's mother sad taking the phone. "No! Anna has to learn to do this on her own. Eventually, she will be your wife and will have to give statements all the time. Just give her a chance."
Anna held up her hand. "Please, one question at a time."
They all got quiet and Anna pointed to one of them. "What about the bruise on you head, Ms. Green? Where did that one come from?"
Anna took another deep breath. "The night of the first snow fall, I went to see the late Mr. Higarashi's grave site to pay my respects and ask for permission to marry Jun. It got cold fast and the snow got thick. Being that I hadn't been in snow since I was a little girl, I didn't exactly have the best grace with it. I slipped and fell, hitting my head on one of the many stones out there. Jun was the one that found me." She smiled. "He wanted to take me to the hospital, but I was stubborn and instead made him take me home."
They laughed. She felt herself loosen up. Again she pointed to someone. "Do you think getting married at your age is a wise idea?"
"My mother once told me when I was little that if you love someone so much that you can't imagine waking up and not seeing them, or living your life without having them, then you are meant to spend the rest of your life with that person as long as the feelings were returned. And they are. Jun and I love each other very much and we are willing to put everything at risk just to be together. Would I be here right now in his place if I didn't love him enough to make sure he stayed in bed while sick?"
A few of them nodded. Anna pointed again. "Do you think that you are dishonoring his family name by having sex before marriage?"
Anna laughed. "Can you honestly say you waited for marriage?"
That really made them laugh. Anna smiled. She pointed once more. "What do you say to those who believe you are marrying Mr. Higarashi for his money?"
"I asked Jun today if he wanted to get a prenuptial agreement. I would gladly sign it. Jun said no. I have no intentions of ever divorcing Jun, there for I don't think I'll ever be taking his money." She shrugged. "I'm use to not having a lot of money and I'm use to earning what money I do get which is why I'll be Jun's secretary for his company. I believe that together we came build this company up to new heights."
Anna's mother helped him to sit up as he watched the news. Anna was doing well. Everyone seemed to like her, he couldn't blame them. "That's my wife," he whispered proudly, coughing as he watched the reporters slowly coming around. She was doing well, much better then he would have ever guessed she could have done.
Anna's mother sat next to Jun. "She really is great. I can't believe that's my little girl," she said with tears in her eyes.
"As his secretary, do you hope to one day become a higher rank in his company?"
Anna shook her head. "I'm happy with just being with Jun. The only reason I'm going to be his secretary is because he asked me for my help. A lot of his company's business partners are American and it's nice to have another American on his side when dealing with potential associates of my country. I only want what is best for Jun and for his company. He believes having me next to him is best, and honestly, I can't say no to him. I think that's why they call it love," she said sweetly.
They laughed again. "What are your plans for the future?"
"Well, I'll be marrying Jun this spring and after that I think I just want to focus on school. Eventually I want to go to college and maybe get a business degree. Who knows? Maybe I'll have my own company one day," she laughed.
"And you don't plan on sitting at home to be a house wife?"
Anna shook her head no sharply. "I never wanted to be the type to stay home. I like having things to do and I like that I work for what I want. I can't expect to marry Jun and have an easy life from there. Though, he wants to pamper me and give me everything I wish, I am not the type to depend on someone."
"Are you afraid that as his father's son that he will one day hit you?"
Anna tensed. "I know for a fact that Jun is nothing like his father in that sense. I didn't know Mr. Higarashi well enough to say too much, but I know that Jun would never raise a hand to me or to our future children. Besides, if he did, I would feel really sorry for him. I punched his dad once for raising his hand and if Jun ever had the courage to do that to me, he would get a fist to the face as well. I'm not the type to sit quietly and do nothing." They smiled at her and she smiled back. "Thank you for your time but I really want to get home before dark. After all, I'm still sixteen and until I'm married, I have a curfew." They laughed and clapped and Anna got off the platform.
She walked to Jun's car while smiling at cameras and shaking peoples' hands. After getting in and getting back on the road, she took a long, deep breath. That had to have been the scariest moment of her life.
Jun's smile never left his face. "She might end up having my job one day," he smirked. She had faced those reporters like a pro. He was so proud of her. She was going to do well adapting to this kind of life.
Mai gasped and her hand went lightly over her chest. "Mr. Higarashi...this is a rather large sum...I don't think I...I don't think I will even get close to that number."
