Jun just pulled her close as he sped out of the parking lot. He didn't care if the cops came after him, at least they were better than the press. "This is just ridiculous. They hound me in sadness and in happiness. Sometimes I'd rather be poor and unwanted then rich and having the whole world want a piece of me."
Anna looked down. "Jun...you sound like you want to call things off..." she said. She looked over at him. "We knew this would happen...why are you so upset?" She bit her lip. "And trust me Jun...I've been poor, it's not as easy as you think."
"No," he told her quickly. "I don't want to call it off, not at all. I'm just tired of the damn press always hounding me." Reaching out, he took her hand. "I know, it's just that it's one thing when they hound me to death; but they were all over you today. I just don't want you get hassled all the time."
Anna placed her hand on his thigh. "I would gladly be hounded by them if it meant I could be with you, Jun. If I'm not complaining, then you shouldn't. As long as I'm physically fine, I think I'll be able to get through this. Besides, it won't be long before we will be old news. I'm more worried about how your company is going to take this. The reports were talking about us sleeping in the same room..." She looked away. "I don't want your career put on the line because of me. I think I've done enough damage to your honor and family."
"I'll worry about the company later. I mean, what's the worse they can say? Somehow a teenager sleeping with his wife to be doesn't sound that bad. If that's the worse they can do then bring it on." He gave her a smile as they pulled up to her house. This was just the beginning, he knew that. The first step was always the hardest but as long as they walked together they could handle it.
Anna's mother had the whole living room a mess when they walked in. Anna's jaw dropped. "What are you doing!?"
The floor was covered in material and wedding things, from flowers to invitations. Her mother smiled at her. "I've been working on it all day!"
"Mom...I know you are excited about this but...I think you have lost your mind," Anna said.
"Well, with your father gone working on that new tower for Jun, I didn't have anything else to do and I just love planning your wedding." She grabbed some white silk. "Feel this! It's going to be your gown when I find someone worthy enough to make it."
"This is going to cost a fortune. A fortune we don't have, Mom," Anna said. She reached out and felt the silk. "Wow...that's amazing. Where did..." Anna shook her head. "No! Take it back. Take it all back. We can't afford this." Anna walked upstairs.
Her mother sighed and looked at the silk. "I think she likes it."
Jun chuckled as he reached out to feel the silk. It was rather nice. "Anything you want please, let me know and I'll order it for you," he told her. He didn't care how much it cost. You only get married once, right? He wanted everything to be perfect, and he wanted Anna to be happy.
Anna's mom hugged him. "You really are perfect! I can't believe I didn't find one of you when I was younger," she said smiling. "Anna is going to be so happy with you!" And then she started to cry again. "My little baby..." She went to her phone. "I'm going to call a wedding planner."
He chuckled as she started calling wedding planners. He felt the silk once more, his mind drifting away before he finally realized that he was still in his uniform. Sighing, he went upstairs to get a hot shower and a change of clothes. "Your mom is calling a wedding planner," he said as he stuck his head into Anna's room. "And you're getting a dress made out of that silk. Maybe some lingerie too if I get my way."
Anna put her pencil down. She was doing homework. "What? I told her to send it back! That silk alone has to have cost more than her savings!"
"She's...outsourcing the payment," he said slowly. He knew that she didn't want him to pay for everything, but he also didn't want to deny her or her mother the wedding they wanted; and he wasn't about to let them go into financial debt because of this.
Anna threw her pencil at him. "That better not be code for 'Jun is paying for it.' Because I know I told you how I felt about that," she said sternly. "I won't be able to pay you that money back, Jun."
Jun let the pencil hit him. Picking it up, he walked over and placed it on her desk. "Well, when we get married it'll be both of our money so it won't matter. You'll be my wife...that's the only thing I care about. I can make this money back within a year's time with my dad's company; and I have quite a bit saved up in my own account. Not to mention the money I inherited."
Anna put her head on her desk. "You make money sound like toilet paper...like you can just walk into a store and pick it up off a shelf." She looked over at him. "I want you to know that I'm not doing this for the money. If you want I can sign a prenuptial agreement."
Jun lifted her chin up so that he could kiss her. "I know you're not in it for the money," he told her. "You're in it for my sexy body." He smirked, hoping that she would realize that he was joking to lighten the mood.
Anna laughed. "Well I needed someone to look good next to me. It's great for a college application," she joked.
Jun rolled his eyes. "Yes of course, because being hot is what college is all about."
She pulled at his shirt to bend down to her. "The teachers give you a passing grade for it now. Just imagine what those looks will get me in college. Those professors will take one look at you and I'll get an A."
Jun chuckled at this. "Only if they're female," he teased. "If they're male and they give you a passing grade because of my looks I'll have to be worried." Before she could respond he took the opportunity to kiss her.
Anna smiled into the kiss. She stood and wrapped her arms around his neck. Her mother knocked on the door. "Save it for the honeymoon, you two!" she teased and grabbed Anna's hand. "I found this perfect place for the ceremony and the wedding planner will be here tomorrow," she said as she pulled Anna out of the room.
Anna looked at Jun and groaned. She would much rather be naked with him.
Jun whimpered as she was pulled away. Then it hit him what her mother said. Honeymoon? He'd never even thought about that. His lips pulled back into a grin as he started to the bathroom to shower. A honeymoon sounded nice. Perhaps he could finally use the stuff he bought them, and she could wear the Lolita dress. He shuddered. Yes, a honeymoon sounded very nice.
Anna and her mother talked for hours. Anna picked out the decorations she wanted and her mother was scheduling an appointment with a catering service so Anna could try out different types of food were going to serve. While they talked, her mother asked about the bruise on her head and her wrists. Anne blushed brightly as she explained the ones on her wrists were out of lust and love and nothing more. Her mother laughed and Anna explained her carelessness that caused the one on her head. The night went on and by the time it was twelve, Anna had passed out on the fabric that laid on the floor with chopsticks in her hands from the take out. Her mother was trying hard not to wake her while cleaning the living room and organizing everything.
Jun came downstairs talking on his cell phone, he grew quiet when he saw Anna asleep. "Yes, I understand. Don't worry so much. I'll deal with the press." He hung up and walked over to her. Moving some hair behind her ears he looked back at her mother. "She looks so beautiful when she's sleeping."
Her mother smiled. "Yeah, she gets that from her mother," she said proudly. "She fell asleep while eating. I've never seen her do that before. She must have had a hard day. But," she looked at Jun, "you should have seen her, Jun. She was so happy picking out things for the wedding. I think in her heart she always wanted a big wedding."
Jun was practically beaming as he heard that. "I'm glad. I want her to be happy, not matter what it takes." He couldn't wait to see what all she had picked out. Leaning over her he kissed her cheek. "I've got to run into the office to check on some paperwork. Hopefully I won't be gone too long."
"But it's after midnight," she said. She then sighed. "Well, I guess it's ok since it's Saturday tomorrow. But don't stay out to long and you call me when you are on your way home so I know you are ok. Before you leave can you take her up to her bed? I've still got some cleaning to do."
Jun smiled at her. Just like a mother. "Yes ma'am." He slowly lifted her into his arms, cradling her as he started for her room. Taking her to her bed, he laid her down. Taking off her socks and shoes he covered her up before kissing her forehead. "Sweet dreams," he whispered as he started to leave.
Anna's mom met him at the bottom of the stairs. "Here, I packed you some snacks in case you stay too late. But...don't. Because I worry," she said and gave him the bag then kissed his cheek.
Jun just smiled. "Don't worry. I'll call to let you know how long it should take and when I'll be home." He was starting to get accustomed to this, and that worried him. He liked being a part of a family, mainly because it had been so long since he'd had one. Shaking the thought from his head, he got in his car and started off to the building so he could see what was going on.
Once he got to the office, he realized it was going to be a long night. One of their contracts had fallen through in the wake of his father's death. He had to look over the information and decide what to do. After four and a half hours, he could barely see straight after reading for so long, but by the time he was through he had net them another project. One that paid nearly double what the last one did. Evidently that scored him major points with the bored. Of course the only thing he wanted right now was to sleep.
Looking at the clock, he was afraid to call Anna's house this late and wake everyone up. He could barely keep his eyes open as he drove home. Coffee had never been his thing, but right now he would've given anything for it. It was nothing short of a miracle that he made it home without crashing. Going inside, he took two steps before just collapsing on the couch. Sleep was good.
Anna's mother came down the stairs after hearing the door open. She smiled when she saw Jun on the couch. She grabbed a blanket and covered him with it before locking the door and kissing his cheek. She turned out all the lights and walked back upstairs to her room.
Even in his sleep Jun smiled. Pulling the blanket closer he snuggled against it as he let a deeper sleep take hold of him. It was nearly ten o' clock before he finally started to move. His body ached from sleeping on the couch, and his mind was rather foggy. Yawning, he immediately started coughing. Rubbing his throat he groaned. These late nights and cold weather was going to be the death of him. He shivered as he stood. A nice warm shower would do him good.
Anna's mother walked over to him and smiled. She held out a cup of tea. "Drink up, sleepy head. It will help the sore throat," she said.
Anna came down stairs while eating a piece of toast. She smiled when she saw Jun. "Oh! You're finally awake." She kissed his cheek. "The wedding planner will be here in a few."
"Thank you," Jun said as he began to slowly sip the tea. It felt as if someone had taken sand paper and rubbed it in his throat. When he saw Anna he smiled. "That's good. You guys should've woke me up sooner." As soon as he said this he sneezed and shivered. "I'm freezing," he muttered. Downing the rest of the tea he smiled. "Let me take a warm shower and through on some fresh clothes."
Anna's mother went to the kitchen. "I'll make you some flu remedies. You'll be better in no time," she said as he started up the stairs.
Anna grabbed the blanket and folded it then sat down and started to go over her wedding book. She started pulling out the things she wanted. Hopefully the wedding planner wouldn't give her too much trouble.
Jun just nodded. After a boiling hot shower, he got dressed in some clean clothes. Running his hands through his hair, he went downstairs only to be handed more tea. He just smiled and began sipping on it before moving next to Anna. Rubbing her back he looked down at what she was looking at. "So, did you already pick everything out?"
"Nope. I still have to decided what I want western and what I want to keep traditional Japanese." She pulled out a picture of the area she had picked out for the wedding. "Look. It's surrounded by the cherry blossoms. I hope they haven't already been booked on the day they bloom because I know a lot of Japanese wedding happen in spring."
Jun looked over the stuff and nodded. "It looks wonderful." Just then there was a knock at the door. Apparently the wedding planner was here.
Anna's mom got the door and a young woman walked in. She smiled. "Hello, I'm Mia Megumi."
"I'm Helena and those two are Jun and Anna, the couple." Her mother shut the door behind her and Anna stood. She bowed.
"It's a pleasure to meet you."
"If you prefer, we can speak English," she said with a smile.
"No, it's alright. Jun isn't too fluent in English. Japanese is just fine," Anna said. "Please, sit."
Mia sat down and Anna showed her the things she wanted. She explained how they were doing a mixture of both cultures.
"Oh, I do this a lot actually," she said.
"Really?" Anna's mother again.
Mia nodded. "Oh yes, a lot of Japanese women like the Western weddings more than the traditional Japanese wedding. This will be a lot of fun. Have you thought of food?"
"Well, we scheduled a date with a caterer to try out some different dishes and things."
"Will you be having a wedding cake?"
Anna nodded. "Yes, but not a groom’s cake. One cake is enough."
Jun just leaned back and listened as they went over everything for the wedding. He didn't say much, not that he had much to do anyways. Anna and her mom had already planned out just about everything that they could. He was just there to listen, smile, and nod when he was suppose to.
Anna stood and got some tea for Mia. Her mother made cookies and little sandwiches for them to snack on. Anna liked Mia a lot. The young woman seemed to really like Anna's ideas. As Anna talked, Mia wrote down a to do list on a note pad she brought. Anna decided there would be no brides maid or grooms men and they would pay their respects at a shire before the reception started. Mia asked about how many kimonos Anna would change into during the reception and Anna said she would change into a red one at first, like tradition, then into a white one after dinner. Before they would leave, she would change into her wedding dress again with the veil and terrain unattached.
Mai nodded and instantly started moving on the places to make the dress and the kimonos. Before she went any further, she asked what Anna and Jun's budget was so she could factor everything in and not go over.
Anna looked down. "Jun...you sound like you want to call things off..." she said. She looked over at him. "We knew this would happen...why are you so upset?" She bit her lip. "And trust me Jun...I've been poor, it's not as easy as you think."
