Jun closed his eyes. He tried to remember what happened. It came in flashes, but many pieces were still missing. "I remember...warning Anna about Eric. I had dug up some stuff and thought he was off. Anna called me...she was in trouble. I went to find her. He stabbed me. Tortured Anna. We...we fought.... I stabbed him."

He held his head. Why did remembering hurt? "What..happened to Eric?"

Anna's mother walked back over to Anna. "He got away. They haven't found him. That bastard just walked away."

Jun couldn't believe it. He stabbed him. He wasn't dead? Jun shook his head in disbelief as he looked over at Anna. He wanted to go over and hold her hand; but he couldn't with all the IVs in him. "Anna," he called softly as if his voice could bring her back from the brink of darkness.

An hour later the nurse came in and checked on Jun. The police followed her to get a statement from Jun. Anna's parent listened as Jun told them everything he knew and could remember. The nurse walked over to Anna and changed her IV then sighed. The doctor came in and did the same thing.

"What is with all the sighing?" Anna's mother demanded.

"We are worried that if Anna doesn't wake up soon...she won't wake at all," the doctor said.

Anna's mother began to cry again and her father once again comforted her.

"We're going to get married soon," Jun whispered. He couldn't believe that she could stay in a coma forever. She was far too strong willed to just roll over and let this beat her. "She has to wake up."

Anna's mother looked at the doctors. "Can we push her bed closer to Jun's?"

The doctor poked his head out the door and a few others came in. They had to move the monitor around and the cords, but with a little organization, they were able to move her.

"Just remember to not touch her too much. She’s really unstable. She could crash again and I don't know if her heart can take that again," the doctor says.

"It's a strong heart. Adam gave her a strong heart," Helena assured him.

The doctor smiled then he and the others left.

Jun reached over as much as he could so that he could take Anna's hand in his. Her ring finger was bandaged. He ran his thumb over the area where her ring use to be. He wanted to kiss her. To kiss her so that she'd wake up from this nightmare. But kisses only saved princesses in fairy tales. This was the real world, and it was nowhere as kind.

It was another three days before Anna finally opened her eyes, but it wasn't pleasant. Her eyes shot open and she screamed. She screamed and thrashed around in the bed. Her father had to push her roughly back while the doctor and nurses gave her a shot to calm her. Her mother stood off to the side as Anna tried escaping from the bed. She cried until Anna finally calmed down and the doctor pushed her bed away from Jun's so he could check her bandages and stitches. Her breathing was ragged and she was sweating. Her heart rate was above charts. Her eyes were dilated and she said nothing as she watched the doctor hover about her.

After a while, her heart slowed and her breathing calmed. She looked around with tears in her eyes. Everything hurt and she didn't want to be here. All the tubes reminded her of Adam. So many people were around her but all she wanted to know was one thing. "Jun?"

"Safe," her mother whispered and stepped to the side so Anna could see him.

As soon as Anna saw him she broke down in tears and wails.

Jun had been fast asleep when she woke up. The medication they kept him made him sleep more then he wanted to. It wasn't until her screaming reached its peak that he was finally jolted out of his sleep. Looking over at her, he felt tears well up in his eyes. "Anna," he whispered. He tried to reach out to her, but their beds were too far apart. He balled his hand into a fist as he looked over at her. "I told you. I told you we'd be okay."

Anna's mother stroked her hair while Anna cried. When she moved, it hurt, when she breathed, it hurt. Everything hurt so much. She had never felt so bruised and cut before. She could feel every stitch in her body, she could count every spot the knife had touched. All she wanted was to go home. Her father kissed her forehead. She brought her hands up and looked at them. One was stitched and bandaged and the other one had a broken finger...her ring was gone. That only made her cry more.

"Can you push the beds together?" Jun asked a nurse as she walked past him. They nodded, and once more he was beside Anna. Taking her hand, he brought it up to his lips and kissed it. "Welcome back."

Anna turned her head to look at him. Her pillow was soaked with tears and sweat. Her face hurt as she turned it. Her jaw had Eric's hand bruised into her skin and on her cheek was a large bruise from his slap. As she looked at Jun, she let her tears blind her.

"I'm so sorry..." she finally said in a scratchy voice. It was weak from screaming.

Jun shook his head as he reached over and gingerly touched her face. "It's okay," he told her. "We're both okay. Just...the next time I tell you that your friend might be a serial killer...please take it into consideration." He smiled, hoping that she might smile as well.

Anna flinched as he touched her. Her jaw was still sore. She felt her mother slowly pull the hair back from her face. Her father was moving her covers about, trying to make her feel more comfortable. Anna turned and looked at the ceiling. For some reason, the tears just wouldn't stop.

"I should have listened...I know..." She moved the back of her hand to her eyes as she cried harder. "I watched him stab you...I watched him..."

"It's okay," Jun told her. "I'm fine and you're fine. Other than some slight nerve damage here and there and of course the stab wound, I'm going to make a full recovery. The doctor's said you will too. Everything's going to be okay."

Anna looked at her mother. "I...want to see..." she said slowly. Her mother looked at her father and he slowly walked out.

Anna's mother pulled the covers from her undid her gown. She grabbed a small mirror and handed it to Anna since she couldn't sit up. Anna moved the mirror down and looked at the three large cuts on her chest and stomach. The two her her thighs were done oddly. It would make standing and walking uncomfortable until they healed. She stopped the mirror over her heart. Her eyes narrowed.

"I don't remember..."

"They had to open your chest to start your heart," her mother explained.

Anna ran and fingers lightly over the wound and winced. "I looks the same as before...when..."

Her mother took the mirror. "That's enough of that." She tied the gown back on Anna then pulled the covered over her. "You have a good heart, Anna. It just needed a push. That's all."

"I'll have scars...lots of them..."

"We can deal with that when it comes." She reached in her pocket and pulled out Anna's wedding ring. "They had to cut it off but your father took it to get fixed." She grabbed Anna's hand and put it on a different finger.

For the first time, Anna smiled lightly. Her mother kissed her forehead then left. Finally, she could leave and rest. Anna placed her hand over her heart.

Jun reached out to take her hand once more. "They say that if we're good, we should be out in a week and a half." He was glad to see that she was smiling, even if it was just for a little bit. It still made him happy.

Anna frowned. "If we're good?" She looked away. "I look like a butcher shop...and you were stabbed in the back and chest... I don't want to be good...I want revenge."

Jun sighed. "Don't talk like that," he told her. "I want to see him pay just as much as you do. When I think of what he did to you I...." He stopped and got quiet. "Your dad has already purchased a gun after this; and I'm going to get you one as well when we get out."

Anna did say anything. She took her hand from his and looked at her wedding ring. She got Jun involved in all of it. If she had just listened to him then none of it would have happened. He nearly died because of her carelessness.

Another week later, Anna's father lifted Anna out of the bed and put her in a wheel chair. Her mother helped her change and at the moment, skirts were her best friend. Her mother placed a few blankets on her so the cold wouldn't get to her when they got outside. They were warned that the press was waiting for them outside. Anna looked at Jun who stood next to her wheel chair.

"How come he get's to walk?" Anna asked.

"Because he isn't cut on his inner thighs. And if you walk before the stitches come out you will tear the skin," her mother said.

Anna groaned.

"At least look on the bright side. You look cute." Jun leaned down and kissed her as they walked outside. He guided them to the car before they were completely surrounded. "You go on ahead. I'll give them a brief statement and meet you at home." At least this time it was a somewhat positive issue which they were being hounded about. Almost being murdered had a nice sympathy touch to add to all the other scandals which surrounded them.

Anna grabbed his shirt before her mother moved her. "Don't...leave me..." she said in a low voice. She was scared. She wasn't afraid to show it. Eric was still out there and it was the first time she had stepped outside and he was asking her to part with him? It was scary.

Jun took her hand in his and nodded. "Of course." They pushed through the press before getting to the car. After helping Anna into the backseat Jun got in beside her and they started to her house. "I'll call a security company. They'll put in an alarm system at your house," Jun told them as he gently wrapped an arm around Anna.

"I already took care of that," Anna's dad said as he drove. "I also put in security glass on the windows and I'm building a safe room."

"Isn't that a little much?" Anna asked.

"No," her dad said sternly. "It's not enough. Not until he's captured."

Anna said nothing else about it. When they pulled up to the house. Her dad carried her inside and sat her on the couch. Her mother carried the wheel chair in and Anna just glared at it. She didn't need it. There wasn't much room to roll around in at the house anyways.

"When can I go back to school?" Anna asked. School had started back a week before. "I'm so far behind my schedule..."

"You won't be going back for a bit, Anna..." her mother said. Anna looked at her. "You took those winter break classes so you are ahead of the rest. By the time you are better, they still wouldn't have caught up with you. I talked to Aki, he believes you should take the semester off."

"No! If I do that then I won't be able to graduate until six months after I planned to!" she complained.

"Anna, you can't even hold a pencil. You can't even feed yourself. How can you go to school?" her mother said softly.

Anna sat back on the couch. "Then I'm just suppose to sit here all day?"

"No...you'll be going with Jun to his work..." Anna looked at Jun. "I can't be here all day with you and your father can't either. And we don't want you alone in the house...ever. So going with Jun is the only compromise."

Jun smiled and sat down beside her. "I've got a lot to catch up on at work. Most of it I'll be able to do here with you; but whenever I go into the office you'll be my secretary." There was a pause as he moved some hair out of her face. "And I've got to give a speech about what happened. Apparently they think I should get an award for 'killing' Eric. Even though they don't think he's dead." He shook his head. Just one tragedy after another.

Anna looked away. "I don't want to hear his name," she said coldly. "If I ever see him...I will kill him..."

"Anna..." her mother said softly. Anna looked at her with dark eyes and she felt cold. She started for the kitchen. "I'll make us dinner."

Jun gently turned his face to his so that he could kiss her. "We can't let this stop us from living our lives. This is just another dark chapter, but every chapter has its end." He gave her another smile. "We get married in two months. Nothing is going to stop that."

Anna felt her wounds. "I'm going to look a lot different with all the scars..."

"Scars or no scars I still love you," he told her, pressing his lips to her cheek and neck.

Anna smiled lightly. She couldn't wait to be healed. Anna's mother was right. She couldn't even hold a pencil so she would be no use in school. She only hoped to be healed completely when the wedding came around. She had all these plans and it would suck if she had to push the date back.

"How are you feeling, Jun?" she asked moved her hand lightly to his chest to feel one of his wounds.

Jun gave her what was obviously a practiced smile. "I'm fine," he assured her. "It hurts on occasion, but nothing I can't live with."

Anna lifted his shirt. She hadn't seen his wounds yet. She looked it over. There was bruising around the one on his chest and he had extra stitches. Anna leaned in and pushed her lips on his skin a few inches from his wound. She pulled back and let the shirt drop. Her hand caressed his face. She knew she could look romantic the way she was but she wanted to try.

"I'll make it up to you when I'm better," she promised.

Jun smiled and kissed her. "Just don't have study dates with psychos and we'll call it even." There was a small pause as he smirked. "But when your legs heal you will make it up to me. You never got that chance to try on your Christmas present." Her parents were in the other room so he could tease her without getting embarrassed.

Anna laughed lightly. "Yeah, well, when my jaw feels better I'll just give you another blow job."

Jun laughed. "That works too," he smiled and kissed her once more. "I thought I was going to lose you," he whispered.

Anna leaned her forehead against his. "I thought I was going to die while I watched you bleed to death. Though I'm glad you came for me...I wish you didn't...you would have been safe," she said softly. "I want you to know, Jun, that while I was with him all alone, all I could think about was that I never got to tell you...that I love you." She had never outright said those words to him before. They were just always implied.
