Chapter 7
There was darkness everywhere. Nothing existed what so ever. There were no dreams, no emotions, and no opinions. This was how it had always been. But this time there was something different. At the end of the darkness there was a light. At first it would seem small and dim, almost nonexistent. But then the light would expand and it would cause the darkness to disappear, or so it seemed. But what the light revealed made it clear that the darkness was still there. Pools of blood were scattered around the scene. Deaths stench hung in the air. No one had been around at the start. She had always been alone in her dreams. Well it wouldn’t be accurate if we were to call them dreams. Because before the dreams didn’t exist. But for the first time in her life Dreams had started to emerge from deep within her subconscious. They came in the form of nightmares.
The blood suddenly began to spread, seeping towards her. Frightened the young slave would step back, not sure of what she should do. She was alone in her Dreams; her master wasn’t there to tell her what she should do. There was only the silhouette of a man standing back in the distance. He was holding a dagger in his hand; the blood dripped from its tip and flowed towards her. She wanted to scream, but she couldn’t.
The sound of her name caused Candy to awake. She looked up to see Michael looking at her with concern in his eyes. “I’m sorry Master” Candy said trying to hide the fear of what her subconscious had shown her. She had hoped that she hadn’t done anything to cause him any grief.
Michael had been watching her sleep. He felt responsible for her restless sleeps. And knew that the sudden appearance of Candy’s nightmares was his fault. He had gotten rid of one of the causes for Candy’s fear...but it hadn’t gone away. Her head was positioned upon the pillow right next to his. Normally she had always seemed so peaceful and relaxed while she was asleep. When she was asleep it looked as though Candy had no worries or fears. But for the past week a frown had replaced the innocent smile that was normally across her lips when she was asleep. And from time to time a quiet scream would emit from her lips.
“Candy,” Michael said gently shaking her. And automatically as if nothing had happened she would awake.
“Master I’m sorry”
“Its okay” he said holding her in his strong arms “You’re not at fault. There’s no reason for you to be or say sorry” Kissing her lips softly “Don’t worry, I’ll protect you from anything that would try to harm you...now try and get some sleep.” He said kissing her again, laying her head against his chest. As he watched her drift off back to sleep, Michael to finally let sleep take him.
