Chapter 11
Several hours after they had both finished readying themselves, Lord Michael and his young slave were riding together in his grand black carriage. Well on their way to the ball, it was being held at his brothers new castle. The carriage had just passed over the border into new roan.
The sun had started to set just over the horizon; it reflected off of the ocean shore that they had started to pass. Candy’s head rested on Michaels shoulder as they travelled, he had allowed her to sleep as they travelled. He had his arm around her, rubbing her arm up and down. His eyes staring out the window at the scenery as they passed, looking in the distance at the tiny spec of a castle. Turning his head he kissed the top of Candy’s head, signalling to her to wake up.
“Time to wake up beautiful,” He whispered into her ear, just as her eyes fluttered open.
She yawned looking up at her kind master with a smile. “Thank – you” Candy said looking at him as he looked down at her. They gazed into each other’s eyes for a long moment. Only breaking there intense gaze as the carriage came to a complete stop in front of the castle.
The driver opened the door for them allowing Michael to exit first. Followed by Lord Michael holding out his hand, helping Candis down from the carriage. She bowed her head in respect for her master, as they walked up and into the castle. Following Michael as they entered the grand ballroom, where hundreds of other fine dignitary’s from all over had congregated. He led her over to a small group of familiar faces. Candis recognised them all, from their brief encounters in the past couple months.
His younger brother Carson and his current date. A particularly skinny short brunette, wearing a dark red gown. Candis didn’t know her name; she was Carson’s current pick of the month. His father was also there, standing alone in the middle of the group. Michael had once told her that his mother had passed a long time ago, explaining to her why his father never smiled. And then there was his older sister Lillian. She was the most beautiful woman she had ever seen.
Lillian was just a little shorter then Michael. She had gorgeous sapphire blue eyes and long ebony black hair that she wore in an intricate bun. It was braided, and wrapped around so from the back it looked like a treble clef. She wore very little make up, only a neutral colour on her lips and light pink around her eyes and cheeks. A silver chocker wrapped around her neck, and a gold chain around her neck with a small blue sapphire hanging in the middle. She wore light blue ball gown, the shade of fabric grew darker closer to the hem. But it didn’t matter what she wore, it was how Lady Lillian carried herself that made her beautiful. Always smiling to everyone even to Candis, Lillian new when her brothers were happy. And she enjoyed seeing little Michael happy. Her fiancé Mason the duke of Fitzhugh, stood beside her, his left arm wrapped around her back holding her left hand. He was a little taller than her, and had dark brown hair and dark green eyes.
She looked at Michael for a moment, before the music started and he pulled her away to the dance floor along with many other couples.
