Chapter 8
Blinking Touma realized he'd allowed his mind to wander again. He thanked the heavens that he'd caught himself in time before his mind wander to certain unwanted events. Shaking his head, Touma cleared his mind and refocused on his breakfast of… /Geez how long have I been gone this time. My food nothing but mush./ He scooped a spoonful of unrecognizable cereal and brought it up to his lips. It was health junk, but then again everything in the Dates household was. Sighing out loud Touma stuck the spoon in his mouth swallowing the milked saturated flakes. He grimaced at the sugarless sustains before deciding to dump the cereal out. /It was barely edible before, but now../
Pushing back his chair Touma turned only to see a pair of dark brown eyes watching him from the door way. Touma gasped nearly dropping the glass bowl in his hands.
"Good morning Touma-san."
Touma just stared not sure how he should react. The unsettling tone in her voice and the way her eyes searched his sending warning signal to his brain.
"Ya..yayoi-san, good morning." /Why am I shaking?/ Touma felt fine tremors passing through his shoulder. Glancing down at the bowl in his hands Touma could see the surface rippled evidence that his hands were shaking also.
"What is it, Touma?" Touma head snapped up as the voice came again only much closer. Yayoi had moved across the kitchen with a sped and grace that was slightly frightening. "I heard what happen to you," /She heard!!/
The shaking increased and Touma could do nothing but stare up at the woman who stood only a few feet in front of him. /Why can't I…/ Yayoi hand landed firmly on Touma's shoulder as she leaned closer. "You poor boy."
"But you look fine now." /Trapped, I feel trapped./ "Well almost." The hand that had moments ago been resting on his shoulder slid up his neck and across his cheek to press lightly on his bruised cheek. She scowled as she studied it. "Who could do this to such a beautiful face?" Finger tips burned as she traced the bruise and then up into his hair.
/ "There now," H smiled down at him as C changed his hold to only one hand and proceeding to run the other through Touma's hair.
"Beautiful dye job." C coed in his ear tongue caressing Touma's lobe as he continued, "If I didn't know better I'd think it was real." With that C captured his lobe sucking on it while mint breath washed over his jaw. Groping hands rubbed his left leg slowly moving upward. /Stop! Damn it!/ /
/Stop!/ He want to get away, to rip away the hand in his hair. /I won't let it happen again./
"Touma you're shaking." /No, it Yayoi Date, Seiji's sister. You can't hurt her./ Touma body stilled even as Yayoi concerned face lean in closer to his. "I can't believe that you a Samurai Trooper are this shaky after a simple kidnapping." Touma's mind barely registered what she had said, but vaguely he realized that she must not have known the whole truth. But that realization didn't stop his rising panic. Unabated the memories he been trying to suppress since he's awoke lying next to his beloved returned. /Seiji./
/"Don't fight it, blue bird you know it feels good." With that he dipped his head down sucking and biting on Touma's jaw.
"Stop!" He yelled as he tried to pull away but a hand tightened in his hair holding him still. Touma's eyes squeezed shut as he clench his teeth the feeling of his hair being torn from its root halting his struggle for the moment./
"Stop," he managed as her hands slid from his hair to his neck. Her other arm sliding to the head of the chair he was still trapped in.
"Stop what Touma-san." She whispered her face changing as she looked at him with a predator gaze. She leaned in closer while Touma pressed himself hard to the chair's back. /I can't, I won't!/ His hands balled his expression hardening. /I can't hurt her./
"Touma I just…" She stopped suddenly pulling back and walking over to the cabinet. As she pulled open the cabinet door, grabbing a tea cup as she called. "Good morning mother."
Mrs. Date stepped into the room.
"Good morning Yayoi, so glad to see you're alright. We were a bit worried when you didn't come home."
Yayoi cup clapped hard against the counter, "I'm quite capable of taking care of myself."
"Your father said as much. Still be careful we- Touma!" The older woman gasped as she raced to Touma taking the forgotten bowl from his hands. Her warm hand tested his temperature. "You're clammy, I knew it was too soon to have you out of bed." Yayoi had turned and was watching the whole thing with a dark scowl. /Why the hell is Yayoi act so…?!/
"Back to bed," the older woman ordered in a very Nasuti like way. As she pulled him from the chair and toward the front room, where his make shift bed was still laying out.
"Yes ma'ma."
*******************************
Seiji swung the practice sword with easies, but his mind was clearly not on kendo as Mokotu, and Noria-san's students practiced beside him. Torin sighed, Mokotu looked totally unaffected by what had happened. /Face so pale, those bruises, god how can he be so calm?/ The images of Touma face were enough to send shivers down the red head's spine. / I can't believe I let it go that far. I… I shouldn't have let him./
"Seiji,"
"Hai." The monotone reply filled the nearly silent room as the blonde lowered his sword and moved toward the door where his father waited. He whisper something to his son to which Seiji nodded and headed to the changing room. The sad expression in his lavender eyes filled the growing pool of guilt in Torin's soul, but the look was gone in only a moment before he glanced up at the others in the room.
"I'm going."
"Sure," their cousin replied before turning to continue swinging the wooden sword.
Torin watched Mokotu for a few more minutes before turning to follow Seiji. His steps were unsure and his heart and mind were in the mist of a heated argument but the second he saw the half cloth Seiji lean against the wall his face a picture of despair he knew what he needed to do. He wouldn't betray Mokotu but he had to apologize even if Seiji never understood why.
"Torin? What do you want?" The red head looked up to stare into pained purple eyes. The stare was broken as Seiji pulled his shirt on buttoning the front as he waited for Torin to reply.
"I just need to say I'm sorry again. It's my fault this happened, I should have made him come back… I should have."
Seiji approached the slightly older man his face set in a frown as he moved to stand in front of his second cousin.
"It's not your fault, but I thank you for the concern." Walking passed Torin he headed out the door. "Touma will be fine, he's tougher then you think."
With that the sword man and heir to the Date estate left. / I hope so Seiji./
"Mokotu…" Torin whisper as he felt his cousin's approach. "We need to talk."
*******************************
Seiji greeted his mother who was in the kitchen before heading into the living room. The tension he felt instantly fled as he laid eyes on the sleeping archer. Touma was asleep on his side per usual. His underside hand curled up next to her face. As Seiji continued to stare Touma stirred his bruised face wrinkling in what Seiji hoped wasn't a nightmare. Slowly he sunk to the floor beside his love and reached toward the bruised profile. The blond healer want so much to remove the dark marks from Touma flawless face, but that would have to wait until after the police arrived to take their statements.
The teen started as he saw the hand reaching for him.
"Seiji?" It was shaky and begged for reassurance.
"Hai." Seiji answered smoothly as he continued to lower his hand down to Touma cheeks. "Time to wake up Touma."
"Is it?" Touma voice was not the sleepy, sluggish voice it should have been. The archer set up wincing slightly as he did so. Seiji had left a few bruise about Touma body as well only healing the most serious of injures those being Touma's knee and ribs. /But his face, I'll heal that as soon as the police leave. I can't stand…/ Seiji shook the thought away as he stared into tire blue eyes.
"They'll be here soon."
Touma nodded.
"We need to decide what we are telling them." Again the only response Seiji got was a nod. "Tou, we still haven't told me what happened."
The already pale pallid became paler, as Touma lowered his eyes.
"I… I don't want to talk about it, please?"
"I'm sorry Touma, You know we can't do that, you and I needed to talk about this. You can't keep it bottled up." Seiji paused smoothing the archer's cheek with his thumb. "You have to trust me on this Touma."
"I can't… I just want to forget." Touma suddenly dove forward burrowing his head into Seiji's chest, fingers clenching the blonde's shirt. "You stopped them! You saved me! That all I need to remember…" His voice quieted as he pulled away he face slowly lifting toward Seiji's. "You saved me… again."
"Tou," The whispered name ghosted from Seiji lip his chest constricted as if held in a vice. He pulled his love back into his arms whispering fragmented reassurances he didn't really understand.
"It's all right, we'll figure something out, ok?"
"I'm sorry," Touma muttered his breath calming from a hysteric pant to an exhausted flutter. /He's going to fall back asleep. I guess I'll just make something up./ Nodding mental Seiji held Touma for a few more minute before lying the young teen back down. It was obvious as the archer didn't stir that he felt safe in Seiji's presence. Recovering his love with a blanket, Seiji stood and walked to the kitchen; his mother instantly offering him a cup of tea.
"Thank you."
"You know he has to talk about it soon, events like these fester in the victim's minds until they either consume the victim or they build and build until they burst in vicious assaults against themselves or others.
Seiji nodded remember things like this mentioned in his physiology class.
"But for now just keep an eye on him." Seiji's neck started to hurt from all the nodding and he rubbed it while glancing back toward the front room.
"So, what are you going to tell the police?"
Seiji shrug both as an answer and also to relieve some of his tension. "I found Touma wandering Daicon Avenue. He was completely out of it, and the bruise and cuts on his body were pretty massive. He all but fainted when I found him. So I brought him back here for my mother to look over. He says he's not sure how he got out onto the streets much less away from the kidnappers." Seiji though not a frequent liar felt himself pretty good at it; enough to be able to lie when necessary.
"That should work, they already have Satsuki's statement and I can show them Touma's blood work."
"His back ground in martial arts can provide us a way around his escape while sedated. And Daicon Ave. is half a city away from were I really found him."
His mother nodded before refilling her cup and then offering Seiji his but her son refused.
"Mom I still don't know if he saw the cameras," Seiji whispered, "Or if he's had time to realize that whom every arranged this could try something again. I, I wanted to talk with him about that today, but…"
"Give him some time, I'm quite sure Touma knows all that, he is the Trooper of intelligence after all, he may simply be trying to avoid that train of thought while he deals with the more pressing issue of how to deal with other people again. Seiji raise an eyebrow at that.
"But Touma been just fine -"
"With you, your connection with him through the armors has helped his body contain and deal with your closeness. That has not been the case with the rest of us."
"I guess I hadn't really noticed." Seiji muttered his shoulder dropping slightly.
His mother's smaller hand closed over his and he looked up to see that patient motherly smile on her face.
"That's because you've had more pressing matter to deal with also." Seiji managed to smile back before standing.
"Haha, arigato gozaimasu." Seiji leaned forward giving her grateful kiss on the forehead before leaving.
*****************************************
Mokuto was not look forward to this as he and Torin climbed into Torin's car. Torin started up the mazda he eyes anywhere but on him. And this made Mokotu increasingly… /Nervous… irritated…. Why? What if he wants us to confess? I won't, I…/
"Mokotu I'm done."
That was it, it was finally and Mokotu knew it, but he still had to ask.
"What do you mean done?'
"I not going to help you anymore. It was horrible and cruel and I just sat there and watched. We-"
"I'm not going to confess."
"I know, and I'm not asking you too, Mokotu."
"Then what?"
"Stop being defensive, I just had to tell you. That I won't help you." Mokotu glanced at his cousin as he heard the catch in his throat. There were tears in his eyes thought none had fallen yet.
"Do you except me to feel guilty? Because I don't that brat got what he deserved, Seiji suffering is just a bonus."
"… Every time I close my eyes I can see his face, held down on the table as those bastards I HIRED try to rape him. I can't believe I did that, and I don't even know why I help you do that. Why I went along with it." Tears were falling now as Torin lean forward placing his head on the steering wheel. "Won't you at least tell me why?"
Mokotu regarded his cousin quietly before answering.
"I don't know."
The stillness that followed was like that after a terrible storm. /Why, why did I? Why did I do it? Why did I… No why do I want to hurt him so bad?/
Torin's mirthless laughter filled the silence like scream in a cemetery before he turn off the car and stepped out.
"Torin!"
His cousin stopped in mid swing the door held in a tight grip.
"Keep your word."
The door crashed shut at those words Torin storming away his red ponytail swung as he walked.
Closing his eyes Mokotu leaned back as he realized he had a pounding head ache.
"Shit…"
The click of the car door opening broke Mokotu out of he mindless wanderings as he turn expect to see his older cousin, though not this one.
"Hello Mokotu."
"Yayoi?"
She closed the door before making herself comfortable.
"Is there something you want?" he final asked felling very uneasy about her appearance. /Did she hear us? No the car was on. Did Torin… No he-/
"Would you like to finish what you started?"
"What?!?"
"I can help you?"
"Help me what?"
"Break up Seiji and Touma?" She paused looked over to him. "That is what you want isn't it"
"But how?"
She stared at him silently for a moment before mouthing. 'I read your lips.'
"And their suffering has just begun."
